Stop listening to people on here who don't even own the new mini led iPad, they're here to troll people by spreading fake news or they've got nothing else better to do, they are going off photos and videos online that are way over exposed, these photos and videos are not what you see in real life.

Nothing wrong with the photo you posted, screen looks fine

Enjoy your new device, the new mini led display is absolutely stunning.

Stop listening to this guy, he is the real fake news. The blooming and shadows are bad. Especially when using in the dark.

I have the mini led ipp 12.9 and honestly, as a regular user who uses it for university, apps include notability, one note, etc, 3d apps, and work related apps, I have no issue whatsoever. I do get what users are saying about the shadow etc on the side, but honestly its not even noticeable when I use the ipad that i do not care. I didn't even notice it till users were pointing it out and I'm still - it doesn't effect me.

When I'm watching content, I am focusing on the middle of the screen at my app, not the sides and it doesn't affect the app in anyway. When I use any drawing app, I'm doing sketches on white background. When I read white text on black background, i do not see blooming and my brightness is not even maxed as is at medium. I do not know what BAD means - does it make the device unusable entirely? is it affecting display and content? I am only speaking for myself and I'm happy with the device. Perhaps when more users receive their devices, in July, more will feel the same and just enjoy it ☺️

I do not watch Netflix on the device, never have, as I have my regular smart TV I use. I do watch some YouTube for school, research etc but all in all its a great device, FOR me and my needs atleast.

NOW, the issue is the thunderbolt, as I saw a bunch of YouTube vids saying the speed is not adequate when connecting TB3 devices with nvme etc..which Is what I wanted to use..hoping its a software fix on boosting the speeds or making tb3 port accessible to more enclosures. Not sure yet on that, which is unfortunate. Still trying to see which is the best tb3 enclosure/nvme drive combo.

Just went to BestBuy again and took a more in depth look at the 12.9 yeah the shadow is pretty noticeable. I opened up notes on it and the 11 which was right next to it and you could make it out even from a bit further away. It made it look cheaper too while the 11 looked great. For me it would feel like a downgrade to have to see that especially since I use light mode during basically the entire day. If all previous iPads had a shadow like this as well though it wouldn’t annoy me. Just my 2 cents either way I think potential buyers should simply take a look at in stores and see if they care at all simple as that.

Spoiler alert: I do not own the 2021 12.9 iPad Pro. I have the 11".

All screens are not created equal and that may account for some of the differences of opinion here. Some are perfect or near perfect in color and uniformity and others have flaws that some people can't live with. There is also a difference in perception on the part of the viewer. I am picky about screens and am one of those who once you see it you cannot unsee it.

I went to the Apple store to check out the new mini LED screen to see if I made the right decision in getting the 11". It was hard to evaluate anything under the bright lights of the Apple store and I was not able to see blooming. The shadows on the periphery were minimal, but enough to bother me. Looking at an HDR video was amazing and I can see why many are so thrilled with the new screen.

Bottom line is that those who love it should enjoy it and those who have significant complaints should return it or possibly try another before giving up on it. No need to fight it out here.
I'm happy with my 11" that has a perfect screen in my eyes and is the right size for me.

Since there have been complaints about flaws on some, but not all screens each year since the beginning of time, it makes sense that some miniLED screens will be better than others. Many here are reporting that their screens are not affected or the issue is so minor that they are not bothered by it. I think you should return your device and try one more before giving up on it.
but how?

getting a replacement is not possible with that scarcity, and calling apple, they just say: its normal.

To those who are disappointed, just use your iPad Pro 2021 in a well-lit room instead of watching movies with maximum brightness in total darkness and avoid dark mode. It is a professional work device and not an entertainment machine. Yes, there is a very slight shadow at the edges because of its design. You quickly get used to it and enjoy the brilliant display with its accurate colors. Incorrect OLED colors would be a nightmare for any professional user.

wrong. its called pro to denote that its their superior device. nothing about being a professional work device- its just a marketing term.

think about 120hz, lidar scanner, processing power for gaming, convinient features like face id, bigger screen, and better display.
its certainly is the better option for entertainment.

I would return the device and order a new one, knowing that I would have to wait awhile and check the Apple store stock daily.
