Been using the iPad for a few days now, and do not even notice it now...
I saw it only when someone was commenting it on the forums, but it is so so faint, I can’t even see it unless I really squint hard to see it :) I definitely love the iPad ?

First blooming and now shadow edges? lol. Why did Apple not go OLED? the 12.9” display is awful.
So you and everyone else can complain about burn in? Don’t think more than 3/4 of the people on this forum can handle oled without complaining about something. Harsh reality.

This is not acceptable apple can never make a perfect screen every device has issues this is a joke, no way am I keeping this

The iPhone 8 plus had a perfect screen without PWM flicker, color shift, pink hue, text smearing and so on...

Sadly Apple forgot how to make good displays. OLED and Mini-LED are inferior technologies. Steve Jobs knew it and he was right to this day.

I didn’t notice any shadow the first week of owning the 12.9. Then, accidentally my iPad fell from the night stand to the floor (inside the magic keyboard). When I turned it on, I immediately noticed the shadow around the screen. I thought it got damaged.

BTW, I wasn’t aware of this thread. If this is a common thing, I can’t believe I used it for more than a week without seeing it (since I am pretty obsessive about even screens).

It looks nowhere near this bad in person. And it’s even less noticeable when you don’t use it at max brightness in a dark room, which no one ever should.

A lot of the bloom is either from unlikely use scenarios (100% brightness in complete darkness) or exaggerated by the camera. High use HDR (when it cranks up to 1600 nits) can also make it more likely. Also, some people are just more prone to seeing it, due to their eyes or other factors.

Most of the people here who do care, don’t even own or have seen one in person ????‍♂️
Look, based on the number of posts you throw up daily defending the 12.9 mini-LED, it’s clear you’re a loyal, somewhat rabid, Apple fan. Great, good on ya. Understandable you’re willing to overlook some flaws (design/tech/manuf) in their product.

I am too except when there are issues, I call it like it is. I started out with the 12.9 and ended up with the 11 due to blooming and shadows. My eyes, professional background, use case, etc are different than yours. That’s a good thing. Life would be pretty boring if everyone was the same and thought the same.

However, attempting to dismiss and cancel others’ complaints and observations because you don’t agree with them by claiming most don’t have the device borders on ridiculous. A fairly large quantity of devices made it into the wild so this isn’t an exclusive club.

All 12.9 2020 models have a flaw that is very hard to see as well. A faint white dot about a cm round from something inside pressing on the back of the display. All 3 of mine had it.

Blooming and shadows are total non issues in everyday real life use, it's not about being loyal, don't like it when there is 100 threads making a big deal out of nothing and scaring people off from buying this awesome device.

People already regret not purchasing the mini led iPad within the first week when released after hearing all these overblown stories, now they have to wait a month or more to get theirs.

These dudes are the biggest Apple shills on Youtube.

He called it how it is, just about everyone who owns a mini led iPad, in real life use they are seeing exactly what he's seeing, total non issue.

What's funny is that people don't own one and don't intend on buying one, are going off over exposed photos and videos online, then coming here and turning people off with all the fake news.

Go ahead and return or skip purchasing if the unit cannot satisfy both your technical need, your visual preference, and your emotional satisfaction. It is your right to return a unit that does not meet any or all of the three factors.

I’m not finding my unit a huge disappointment.

As John Lydgate, the poet stated, or Abe Lincoln, depending on your source, said, “You can please some of the people all of the time, you can please all of the people some of the time, but you can’t please all of the people all of the time.“ The corollaries to that old quote include “You can please some of the people none of the time.” as well as “I will wait until the next one comes out” and “What were they thinking”. We are all experts in supply management and logistics and we all know how to design the right equipment, even if we never intend to buy it.

As for me, I have found two things about this shadow issue on my unit: 1) It appears to be a visual artifact to my eye that rapidly goes away, and when I set my manual photo settings to take a picture, there is nothing showing up. Blooming is also much worse with the camera than the eye and with manual settings barely shows up.

It’s an expensive unit no doubt. If it cannot satisfy your technical, visual and emotional hurdles it is the wrong unit.

Got my 512GB WiFi 12.9 today and I have to struggle to see the shadow on a white or any other background and even then I'm not sure that it's there. Not an issue for me.

The new Display is a huge improvement, very satisfied. The minor shadow is barely visible. If not using in darkness and dark mode blooming is no issue.

Curious, do you guys notice the blooming on yours on the top right where the battery logo is? Seems like that corner has some blooming even in ambient light..

Stop listening to people on here who don't even own the new mini led iPad, they're here to troll people by spreading fake news or they've got nothing else better to do, they are going off photos and videos online that are way over exposed, these photos and videos are not what you see in real life.

Nothing wrong with the photo you posted, screen looks fine ?

Enjoy your new device, the new mini led display is absolutely stunning.

Haven't discussed final contract yet lol.

This shadow and blooming nonsense has been taken way to far, for people who don't own a mini led iPad they shouldn't be commenting about it, for people that stress about every little small detail, return it.

In everyday real world use, this so called blooming is a total non issue.
