After my suffering iMac 27” is confirmed by apple to have no longer any hardware support. I purchased a new iMac 24” (was holding out for the 27”, but we all know that story).

So, ordered April 10, my shipment date has changed twice now. It’s now stating 01 July.
Meanwhile, my productivity could be better, working on my iPad Pro, rather than my ailing 27”.

Silver
1 TB
16 GB

Probably the longest wait I’ve had (using macs since the newton)

edit, I wrote ETD June, not July at first. It’s 3 months for what I consider a standard spec.

My first ETD was this week :-(

Strange update to my order:

Money was withdrawn from my Bank Account Friday 27 May and cleared the following Tuesday. To be clear, the money was no longer in there and gone to Apple.

Today 07 Jun and the money is back in my bank account. Double checked my order it's not canceled but still 'processing'.

So, I've gone from a 2 week delivery date, to 3 months, to now unknown...

mmmm....

Congrats on your orders. I decided to wait in hopes the larger iMac will be available later this year. I am happy for all of you.
I hear you! My late 2012 iMac 27 is getting a little long in the tooth. I was ready to buy a new one in 2020. Are you listening Apple?

i wonder if these are still selling well after the announcement of M2
I was planning to order an M1 iMac this week. Not impressed by M2 benchmarks. They had to overclock it and it's still barely faster. And as of now there's not a single rumor about a low cost M2 iMac anyway.

I've yolo'd it. Ordered the base spec orange iMac (4 port model) last night using education discount with the back to school gift card. With the Magic Trackpad instead of the mouse, it came to just over £1,200 after discounts. I've been in need of a monitor for my 16" M1 Pro MBP, and really wanted a mini-LED option, but just couldn't stomach the price of the XDR when it's almost 3 years old. Hoping the iMac will act as a nice stop-gap till there's an affordable external mini-LED monitor :) Due to arrive on 26th July, I'll post pics when it arrives :)

I too am expecting delivery of my new blue 24” iMac tomorrow which will be Thursday. Ordered it on June 6 with the arrival tomorrow July 21. I maxed out the Ram and storage and it was done in China. My old iMac is 8 years old now and Apple doesn’t support it anymore. Definitely time for an upgrade!! I can’t imagine how it’s gonna look and perform …. super excited !! 😊

I feel like these are the next iMacs people end up having for 8+ years. Or maybe apple shortens support cycle going forward and we end up closer to 5 years.

Ponylover52 .... It makes you wonder what iMacs will be like 8 or 10 years from now. As I look into my crystal ball I see; 1) holograms 2) Smellovision 3) Texture Feel. I mean where else can computers go towards doing?

My orange base model just arrived! Absolutely beautiful :) I'm noticing the 60hz after being spoilt by the 120hz on the new MBPs, but hopefully I'll get used to it. If they do upgrade these iMacs with 120hz anytime soon, it will be really tempting...

100% you get used to it and it becomes smooth to you after a few days. I downgraded a lot of promotion devices to non devices and I find it all perfectly smooth, yes though I know what you mean haha.

But that would be a very expensive iMac Pro…..
If they make me choose between a 120hz grey monster and a 60hz orange beauty... really hope they release the eventual iMac Pro in bright colours but I think the chances are slim :(

The 60hz feels a bit more "normal" on day 2, getting used to it :)

I think it's gonna be gray, dark gray, and black. At most :)

I'm thinking of ordering the gray M1. I assume it goes well with different colors of wallpapers. Do you feel that the orange color of your iMac limits what colors of wallpapers you can choose from?

So you even went with 8GB RAM? Do you feel that's gonna be a bottleneck in a year or two?

I don’t feel that the orange limits the wallpapers I can choose from :) but personal taste obviously. I love the colour so much that it’s worth any slight loss in versatility.

Yep 8GB! i was tempted by the 16GB but I’m really just buying this as a placeholder till a mini LED external monitor comes out from apple, with 120hz etc. Will be selling the iMac when that’s out so went for the base :)

Was on the fence about ordering a 2021 iMac for months (waiting for M2 and a bigger screen), but I found a sick deal on a 8/8 core, 512GB SSD, but only 8GB RAM (would have wanted 16) from Amazon Warehouse deals. It was $1150 before tax and described as "acceptable" condition. I took a chance, and the iMac arrived today in perfect condition except the box was damaged because the outer shipping box was in horrible shape... looks like they didn't use any cushioning so it probably bounced around in transit a bit. Due to my concern about the rough handling, I chatted with amazon and they gave me a 20% discount on the iMac, bringing it to under $1k after tax! I'm sure this model will suit my needs for now, and if they come out with a 27" M2 in the next couple of years, I can always sell this one and recoup my cost.

We just purchased an iMac for our new family computer. Not sure if this is helpful, but thought I'd share an update on the lead time.

Blue 8/8 core iMac (wanted yellow or orange but wife won out, blue still looks good though)
16GB RAM
512GB SSD
Keyboard with Numeric Keypad
No other options

Purchased with via education store on apple.com

Order placed 7/15
Delivered to home (Midwest USA) estimated date: August 8-15th
On Friday (7/22) my credit card was charged the full amount and on Saturday (7/23) the order status has switched from "processing" to "preparing to ship".
Expected delivery date updated to August 3-10th.

So we'll see. Upgrading from a Late 2013 Retina 13" MBP. Very excited.

Blue looks awesome in person, I was set on silver, but in hindsight I love it, glad I added just a subtle bit of color to my apt. I don't see the back so its not in your face being up against a wall.

Our iMac came today. It's amazing, especially compared to the MacBook Pro 13" we were using.

I do have a regret in not getting the trackpad (matching in blue).

This is a bit of a long shot, but if anyone happens to be ordering a blue iMac and doesn't want the trackpad, I'd be willing to pay for the trackpad and shipping if you spec it on your order.

Just PM me. I'm not sure there is really any other way? I tried chatting with and Apple specialist and they only offer the white and black.

I managed to get an orange Magic Mouse after the original order. Try and talk to AppleCare and speak to someone in the repair department. If you're persistent enough and tell them that others have managed to do it the same way, they will eventually let you. Cost be £86 for the mouse, so similar to the price you'd pay if you bought it with the Mac.
