In general have all iMac’s (specifically in UK) been on time for what the initial order time said?

When you pick delivery it gives a window of a week, whereas pickup to store it gives a specific date. Has anyone ordered to a UK Apple store for pickup?

Mine was a little earlier, forget how much. In store didn't have the spec I wanted at that time. Home delivery.

On the checkout page when you chose delivery it has a window of a week, but also allows pickup at local Apple store but it’s a specific date, which is the last date of the delivery window. Just wonder why this is and how correct, wondering if the pickup date could change to.

I would hazard a guess that shop slots are to allow staff time to deal with you correctly (especially with covid). I wasn't going to travel 25 miles to pickup when they would bring it to my door, and the box feels like it weighs more than the computer (it really is a sweet construction).

well, I don't know if the box is heavier but certainly is heavy. Other hefty grey box and a well constructed display box.

I ordered my custom build for in-store pickup. It arrived at the store earlier than expected (earlier than the first day of the window stated when I ordered, though I don't remember how much earlier), and I was able to pick it up more or less straight away. I didn't have to wait for the original date.

That’s good to hear, I’m not sure why there’s a difference really.

Did they inform you that you could come earlier, did you get email to say had arrived and could collect when it was in store?

Thanks

I ordered a max specd M1 iMac on October 20, still waiting... Ordered via a reliable reseller, but there seems to be no ETA. Has anyone experienced such long waits?

Can you see where and when iMac’s were built now using serial number?

I’m sure I read Apple were changing the way you could tell. I’d be interested to know from ordering one what the manufacturer date was.

Delivered yet? Also, how much off, original price? Thanks

Yes, it was delivered this morning by UPS (had to sign of course). I haven’t opened it yet because of work. How much you save depends on your configuration, so for me, I ended up saving $325.

How do you make sure the iMac you are ordering is the same year? I am guessing 2021 is all they still have.
Are there 27" 2021 versions out there?
I purchased my 27" last year and I got a 2019 version.
Will take any and all advice.

Not 100% sure. But, the 24" iMac I purchased in early December 2020, was a 2021.

Do you mean manufacture date? As all 24” M1 iMac are classed by Apple as “iMac (24-inch, M1, 2021)”

How do you tell if so the manufactured date from serial now?

No way anyone could have purchased the coloured M1 24’ iMacs earlier than May 2021. It was announced in April and released in May .

The model year of iMac is when it was announced, not when manufactured.

All iMac models are listed on this page, with links to specific tech spec pages for each model:

Additionally, if you are on the Apple website, within the Mac section, you can click on 'Compare all Mac models'. The drop-down will identify the current and most recent model of each desktop and laptop Mac model, and the year associated with most but not all models is given in parenthesis (they probably don't give the year for the current 27" iMac because it is still the 2020 model and they don't particularly want that emphasized):

I placed my order for a Pink iMac (3rd tier model) on the 4th, received an update this morning but with two different delivery dates. Apple says the 17th, while UPS says the 14th. Which one do I believe?

This also happens to me. In my experience the Apple delivery date is the worst-case scenario, and the UPS date is the best-case scenario. Mine usually show up somewhere in between both dates.

In case anyone's curious, here's Amazon's breakdown of verified M1 iMac reviews.

Interesting. How did you get that compilation?

(and clearly there is something wrong with the blue M1 iMacs since they have a disproportionately high number of 1-star reviews! LOL)
Yes, "Customer Expectations with respect to Choice of Colour" is an interesting topic. I conjecture Silver buyers know what they're getting, performance wise, and want something that's easier to sell later-on: they're the most satisfied bunch, overall, among the popular colours.

Poor ratings were generally, ie. not limited to blue iMacs, caused by third party resellers; some customers though, just had unreasonable expectations:

My iMac arrived this afternoon and I'm in L-O-V-E with it. 😍

I really thought going from 27" to 24" would be jarring but it's not whatsoever.
If you're happy to pull the iMac a little closer to you, you'll find adjusting the "Scaled" setting works great: select the "More Space" option and you won't miss the 27" as much.

I may, on occasion, need to zoom-in to read text more comfortably, but this is trivial on my Trackpad; not sure this experience carries over with the Magic Mouse since I've never had one.
