Just tried to order one, support didn’t offer me anything other than the current Magic Trackpad that’s in the retail store. Can you explain how you got it? Also how much did you end up paying?

It was same $129. But you really got to explain to them your not looking for the regular trackpad. So sales cant help you. Because its exclusives to imac only it can only be ordered as a replacement. So whatever you dont let them send you to sales its waste of time. Cause they can only access the regular one.

I tired again and no luck. They said it’s not possible, clearly someone at apple doesn’t know how to do this. ?
All I can say is keep trying.. till You get the right rep In support. i Literally had to tell them What needed to be done before he finally agreed with me and said it made sense and figured it out .. took a few calls
I have the green iMac with magic keyboard, and I wanted the extended green keyboard as well. I went round and round for over an hour trying to get it ordered as a replacement part, and they weren't able to figure out how to do it. I got transferred all over the place, first in chat, and then on the phone. I gave up, frustrated, and haven't had the energy to try again.
At first the separately sold trackpad was the older design with the tighter corners and shiny bottom plastic, but when they started selling the Touch ID keyboards separately they also updated the trackpad to the one that ships with the new iMac (bigger rounded corners, matte plastic bottom). So if you’ve got a silver iMac, the trackpad you can order from the Apple Store is identical to the one you’d receive if you ordered the iMac with it!
Thank you. I was able to exchange my Magic Mouse for the Magic Trackpad and pay the difference at my local Apple Store. I explained the situation and the associate was very helpful with this. I prefer it much more over the Magic Mouse.
Mine shipped last night, I ordered on September 19th Green 8/8/16/512 delivery time was October 20-27 and it is saying it should be here next Thursday 10/21 so seems pretty much on time with what they said. I’ll check out the event Monday and see if anything really makes me change my mind but I need a desktop and I think I would prefer 24” on my desk so mainly just excited to get this one in.
im in similar boat as you are. ord 26/9. delivery expected 21/10 to 28/10. but no movement still/though card was charged on fri. but i think perhaps cos where i am vs where it ships from/so if it says ship it'd be pretty soon (1 day ish) to receive it. i got it via the edu & airpods promo though. desperately need to have a standby computer as mbpr seem to have bloated battery (plugged in usually) shrugs T___T

Got my very first IMac (ever)! I really didn’t want to order online due to shipping times, so for the past week, I’d randomly check Apple stores & yesterday I found the model & color I was looking for!
I didn’t see it listed online, but still asked at the store & fortunately, they had the green in stock. (Was torn between green & blue, but green pulled ahead
I currently use a 2016 MacBook, so Im excited to set my iMac up (I some point, I’ll probably upgrade my 2016 to a MacBook Air for travel)

That’s my plan too I was going to get the 24” iMac and see what they do with the Air refresh in the spring and then decide if I want to go with an Air or MBP but my plan is to go with an Air as these M# chips seem to do what I need. I really loved the look of that green Air render that Mac rumors showed with white keys I hope they do something like that because it would look awesome with these 24” iMac!
I am also getting a battery message on my MBP so I was deciding what to do with that but I may just replace the battery if it’s $200 and use it to dual boot windows if I need and to replace a old mac mini that I have. The value is pretty low on resale for it so I feel like I’d get more value out of it upgrading a lower power computer than trying to sell it.

actually parts of me love laptops due to portability if needed though i do have the ipad for sch as an option too/pencil is very good. but the swollen battery stuff is just so annoying when one uses the laptop like a desktop..
after my assignments are submitted/have the imac would probably send the laptop to apple to check price etc then it can become a 'standby' though love the 15" laptop/tbh it is fine just speakers broken & the trackpad can't click due to bloat. (obviously din realise i have to discharge it often)
as much as perhaps if theres updated m chips. the ship dates will probably be even later for customised ? or maybe not. shrugs shrugs shrugs

text says delivering 22/10. it ships frm china shanghai to me via dhl directly (tracking no.) / diff frm iphone- was probably assigned frm apple warehouse sg to us as the tracking said sg. hoping it can be 21 ? or 20 (wishful)
Mine made it to Alaska and it says it cleared customs this morning and it looks like the date shifted to Friday. I have to admit I really did some thinking over the past few days about a near base model 14” pro but I do think that is still overkill for me and I would prefer a desktop so I’m still thinking 24” iMac now and Air next year and I’ll be done for a while but we’ll see.

calling dhl & apple to check on the status today. weird i wanted to be all confident & like k apples gonna deliver but theres not a single change in status (unlike usual apple/dhl tracking numbers)
-- dhl says unable to trigger any check becos apple agreements hence gonna call/chat apple shrugs!

Mine stayed in China a while too and the status didn’t really change and I think that was customs it shipped on 10/15 from Shanghai and didn’t leave until 10/20 and there really weren’t any status updates in between and then it went to Korea then Alaska then Louisville and actually got to my place today by 10/21 so it seems like there is a delay in Shanghai where you don’t get a lot of updates but after that the delivery went quick. Just getting it set it up and really love the look of it.

not sure if china has too much stuff to send in general they just whatever scanning it

apple person didn't get my point that the dhl tracking is too weird & texting me 22/10 is "ok" just cos it was said between 21 to 27 (im cool but dont mislead me if it isnt coming 22)
but seem like it may come today afterall.
other product that was via dhl with extremely crazy detailed tracking. (weird aint it)
