Yes, Apple stores do have stock on launch day for walk-in customers. There is no guarantee you will be able to get your preferred model, storage, or color. The best way is to check your local store's inventory by going on the Apple website early in the morning before they open and checking periodically through the launch weekend.
Guys, I don’t feel like going back to work tomorrow and actually, I don’t feel like going to work this whole week. Knowing myself I don’t think I’m getting anything done. Anyone in the same boat as me?
The Ultra to me puts the Stainless Steel in a weird place. If somebody was planning on ordering a 45mm Stainless Steel at $749, I'd pay $50 more to get the Ultra. Seems that I'd either go with Aluminum or Ultra at this point, unless I could get the Stainless Steel on sale for at least $100 off.

There should be a separate walk-in line (NOT the pick-up line) at the Apple Stores. You may need to wait in line before your local store opens. I haven't waited in line in awhile, but when I did, I would go an hour early or something. I'd recommend to keep checking your local Apple Store for pick-up availability for 9/16 and book a time slot. The inventory keeps getting updated.
I agree with you 100%. I find the stainless steel in a weird spot but Apple probably doesn’t want to lower the prices. That’s Apple.
Same boat (though my order was completed a bit later than yours since I was part of the region that was staring at the "almost there" screen for close to 15 minutes until the update to open the store hit the CDN); still on preparing to ship (9/16 by express delivery) and nothing in UPS MyChoice (checked from both desktop and the mobile app).

The year I ordered from AT&T they promised Launch Day. That’s why I ordered with them. 10 days -2 weeks later I still hadn’t received my phone from AT&T, so I canceled that order and picked up the phone I wanted at the Apple Store nearly 2 weeks after Launch Day! I always pre-order from Apple now.
I’ve got an ESR in hand for my 14 Pro, it covers the Dynamic Island fully. I had an ESR for the entirety of my time with the 13 Pro, that also covered the notch, and Face ID wasn’t affected in the slightest. Just as fast and responsive as without a screen protector. I’m not worried, but I’ll respond back on Friday and report back!
My 13 Pro is also on hold and autopay deactivated, no payment currently due. Like it’s been mentioned citizens may just be sluggish in sending out emails with loan number information.
