I'm not really following this discussion, but my girlfriend had a new launch day iPhone originate from a California warehouse. It was already in-country. Of course it originated in China, but the phone started tracking in California.
Did she order from Apple.com or carrier website?

I'm jealous. I've seen the A380 in person at SFO and Heathrow but have never flown on one.
I flew on the Air France variant, since they codeshare with Delta (my usual carrier of choice). Unfortunately, I was flying in Economy and the leg room was less than satisfactory. Then again, being 6’4” and flying Economy is a recipe for disaster! 😂

The plane itself was really cool. JFK has a special boarding area for it, since it requires two jet bridges, one for each level. In terms of technology, however, the 787 definitely takes the cake.

I was charged yesterday for a store pickup on the 17th that I found yesterday, hit my Apple card as soon as I clicked Apple Pay. What is interesting is my better half did store pickup on launch day and that hasn’t gone through. Not sure why the difference.
I believe it has something to do with Apple Pay. I used my Amex and it was supposed to be a 6 monthly payment installment but they changed it last week to 3 payments :( thanks for letting me know Amex!!!

Awesome pic. I was sondering, since you work at Las Vegas Int'l Airport, can't you just walk to the UPS terminal and pick up your phone?
I sure can but not allowed to do that. Everyone is being watched and monitored. Even the Director. It's the airport especially in Las Vegas, Nevada so they are alert 24/7. It's just not possible. You don't want to set a wrong impression and next thing you know you are on the radar. It's not worth it.

View attachment 2058738View attachment 2058739For everyone that kept saying that all phones ship out of china or that I was mistaken and it was a case not a phone. It finally sent an email with the tracking number so you can see mine was from Indiana.
Yours was also ordered from the carrier... it's extremely likely that the carriers have their own stock stashed away stateside...

Here are some comments

Phones ordered directly from apple will ship from china until there is stock in the U.S. warehouse. Once stock is in the warehouse they will ship from those. China shipping will continue for the next month or so due to demand.

If you ordered from a carrier most likely it will ship from their warehouse here once the bulk order of phones shows up. (I ordered thru T-Mobile. I have a tracking number but it’s coming UPS ground from Indiana.)

It is possible to get a carrier ordered phone directly from china if your carrier drop ships. That is a rare chance though as the carriers order by the pallet and have to inventory devices.

UPS

UPS may be using private charters from china to Korea. Then they will fly on UPS planes to the states. It is possible they may fly a charter all the way to a UPS hub. Many carriers do this during busy times.

When a package is on a charter you may not see scans on your tracking. You may see a departure from china. Then an arrival a day later in Korea or Alaska. Then it will flow thru the UPS system to Louisville.

Pallets are either single pack or multipack with multi going to stores and distribution centers.

Correct, there are lots of misinformation everywhere.

In the old days, all phones came in from China and distributed pallets to different carriers and Apple Stores just before launch day.

Nowadays, Apple has smartly distributed way ahead of launch day to carriers & Apple stores. TMO already has the 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max in their US warehouses.

In addition to my iPhone 12 from a nearby Apple warehouse on launch day via Ground service; I also had a Mac Mini on launch day arrive from Bloomington, CA warehouse which normally supplies Apple Stores via FedEx Ground on time.

So everyone needs to get out of their "old thinking"....

Wow... iPhone 12, huh? Slightly behind the times...

Totally understandable. It would be nice though if you were able to.

Long story short...person was arguing that their phone was already in the US....it was NOT an Apple.com order (a t-mobile order) and therefore irrelevant to the discussion in this thread.

No one is saying phones do not eventually ship from the US at some point, but there are NONE right now.

ALL apple.com phone orders at this point in time have or will ship from China....there may be a VERY rare excpetion where a shipment is lost or damage and Apple makes it right from some backup stash, but pretty damn rare.

Same! Love working from home. I don’t have to worry about missing the iPhone delivery anymore! Plus my dog is with me all day haha

Yes, the dog life is defintey one benefit. Plus your own fridge and bathroom. TV in the background, it's all good.

If your iPhone was shipped with UPS (if), you can do track by reference number and put in phone# associated with it.

Mine shows delivery for 9/16 wooo

Cant locate a parents, either hasn't populated or using Fedex or some alternative I suppose. Still hopeful there.

Looking at my shipping status this morning. Still puzzled on weights. 3 packages arriving Friday - All from Apple. 2 from China (Mine and Wife's phone). Can only assume the other is the Watch - but is the watch & packaging that much heavier than the phones?

0.40 KGS is 0.88 LBS - Unless this isn't the actual weight of phone & box, and just the negotiated upon weight per package?

Here's the suspect shipment that I can only assume is my Aluminum Apple Watch Series 8. 1.5 LBS. Not concerned - just bizarre that the packaging for a watch & band bundle (with charging puck) is that much heavier than the new phone & cord.
I have the same thing, same weight, same Clayton, IN
Must be the apple watch 8, and it comes in a big heavy box (?)

I flew on the Concorde, but never an A380.

When you're saying "it's showing" are you trying to request it to be held online on the UPS website? How would they charge you, are they asking for a credit card number on there? You're best bet is to get a hold of the facility where you want to pick it up and ask them if they can hold it for you. If I get a chance at lunch, I'll call my local Hub and ask them if they charge for pick up and if they say no, I'll ask them if any location should be charging to hold a package for pickup.

I ordered both the 14 Pro Max and the series 8. UPS shows a shipment expected for Friday coming from China but fedex shows something with a “scheduled date” for tomorrow coming from PA. I’m not expecting anything early but the heavier package is the fedex one.
