Aw man! That sucks. The best option for you might be to go to the Apple store and see if they are available. You can also reserve it in the morning.

Guys - our iPhones will likely say PTS in the apple status page until literally Wednesday or Thursday night. Lol
They don’t update that until UPS gets it in KY and routes it out I think. Nothing in Zz, ANC, or Korea gets tracked on the apple status page.

In the last few shipments i have had recently, I have not gotten the email and text message to follow my delivery to be honest, all i get is the notification that it was loaded on the truck and that it left the warehouse but then again I’ve only gotten ground shipments, i am curious to see if express or two day shipments would give you the prompts.

Apple has always shown the order "preparing to ship" until the package clears customs in KY and then it gets scanned for departure to it's destination hub. So, the earliest you will see any update from Apple will be Thursday, after it clears customs. I agree with you on your point, though.

I ordered two iPhone 14 Max last Friday at 5 AM PDT, and was told that my orders were received and should ship on Thursday. Today, I noticed from the carrier that two packages which are supposed to be delivered on Friday will arrive early, Wed., Sept 14, 2022. Both packages weigh in at 2 pounds. The packages are coming from:

Space Black 1TB sitting in Louisville, KY as of two hours ago.
Could use some advice. Mine is expected to be delivered on Friday, 9/16. UPS My Choice also reflects that.
However, I had already planned to be out of the country on that day and don't return until Sunday, 9/18. My gf will be at work on Friday and home in late afternoon. I always instruct UPS to deliver to the back of my house but they don't always do that and don't want to risk it being stolen if they deliver before she gets home.
Would it be best to reschedule delivery for Monday? Or hold it at a UPS store so I can pick it up on Monday?

Sounds like a plan. Keep us posted, on what you decide to do. Maybe Apple will bump up your shipment dates. My fingers are crossed.
So out of curiosity I checked to see when I followed my first iPhone order here and it was the iPhone 5s in 2013. Before that I went to the store and hoped to find the phone I wanted, sometimes hitting several stores. Had the original iPhone a year after it was released, it was jail broken and set up with a hack to run on T-Mobile. So I had original iPhone, iPhone 3gs, 4s, 5s (first I tracked here!!), 6s Plus, first big iPhone, X, Xs Max and now 14 Pro Max. These forums are so fun, and even though I don't post a lot, I read almost everything. I especially enjoyed when people figured out how to track what plane your phone was coming in on. Genius!!! Anyway, I'm patiently waiting in ZZ to be picked up, my first new iPhone in 4 years, I didn't want to give up 3D Touch!! I sold my Xs Max on swappa and have been using an old iPhone 8 for almost two weeks, the pain is real. We might be crazy, but at least we're not boring!!!
Won’t deliver to back of house so only option if hold at ups unless request another day that you would be home.

I would hold it at UPS CC and pick it up on Monday or the UPS store i that case. Whatever is convenient for you. They will hold package for you for 5 days
