Customs clearance does not require being in Louisville. Shipments like this very often will clear long before product arrives stateside and will directly enter the domestic package stream without being held in an FTZ at Worldport.

That sucks, Iām sorry. I have seen some folks in the past not have any sort of tracking whatsoever and their phone shows up on their doorstep on launch day. Logistics is weird. Did you at least get a charge on your card?
No. UPS is contractually obligated not to deliver any iPhones before launch day. Even if they could be delivered, they will hold them until Friday.
Honestly that sounds good right now.

A few years ago (iP X or 11?) there were some (mine) that didn't get delivered until Sun/Mon due to issues with customs...I remember having UPS customs exceptions logged as the phones sat in KY.
