I always setup as a new device and once I sign in to my iCloud account on the new device, it'll pull down Messages, Notes, Health/Fitness data, etc. Then I just manually install the apps I need as I need them. I think this is what @julit0 may mean by a fresh migration.
That’s what I do. Is that a correct way?

Mine has been in Louisville since 12:42pm today.
Same here for both of our phones (Pro Max and Pro).

It is the first time they both travelled together the whole way. In addition I don't recall having them in Louisville already on Tuesday.

Makes it someone uneventful.

I didn't like some years, when we still got stuck end of Wednesday in China or Korea. However it built a good bond in this community.

Felt kind of strange seeing both of them in Louisville early on Tuesday.

Oh well, as long they are here Friday ...

Anyone going to take photos on arrival like the last wave? I wish I was in the flight path, but no chance of that happening while living in the Bay Area. 😁

Yes, sorry for confusion @Whistler Mac. I meant that I will only reinstall apps as I need them, but of the apps I load or keep, especially Health/Fitness - I want the synched data to reload. Gotta keep my circles, yo!! 😁

There are definitely ways you can back up the backup, it’s pretty easy to simply move or copy the folder it’s in - I’ve done it plenty of times. but I don’t back it up, realistically speaking the odds of something happening to my phone and my computer at the same time are very slim. If something destroys them both, I probably have bigger problems on my hands :) if that’s a genuine concern then a cloud based backup is probably the more ideal option. I like that local backups are totally secure, reliable, fast, and let’s not forget free.
Good point, since it's stored in two places that's usually good enough. I was more so curious if you also threw them on a portable hard drive or something just in case. And with SSDs drives are pretty reliable these days. I've been looking into the idea of backing up to a computer and then encrypting the backup in something such as Cryptomator (https://cryptomator.org/) then uploading it to a cloud service. But, I'm not sure I really need to do that since I'm OK with using iCloud at the moment.

Man this forum moves so fast I can’t keep up 😂. It’s been happening all day. Packages from UPS this morning took 4 hours to show up as delivered for me. Something on their system.
It's just the volume during launch. They are not going to upgrade their servers for once in year event unless they are in cloud and scale up temporarily.

Hopefully, tomorrow will be a better day when it comes to the scans. Makes no sense why there’s a delay.
