Are you going to order the new iPhone 14?

Is having no glass screen protector an option? haven't put one on in years...and I've never looked back :)

Only reason I use it is because I can’t stand even micro scratches. I am not worried about the screen cracking though as I always get Apple Care+.

Not just this. I love the oleophobic coating on new screens but it doesn’t last long and I am not aware of any way to reapply it once it’s gone. Screen protectors come with it applies and when it goes away I just apply a new one.

When I get the tracking number, will I see the phone's entire journey up until this point?
Yes, you will. Also, on Thursday Call apple and obtain the full tracking number. They will give it to you. At least you can see and wait for your import scan to hit on Thursday.

Import scans will occur in the morning and afternoon PST time.

Please get this UPS MyChoice account fix for the next year. Don’t wanna go through this again.

Don’t forget to report if you were part of wave 1 or 2 I will share the info with u.

Will do. It should be fixed a few days after I actually need to use it. 😅

Before you set up your new phone make sure to unpair your watch from your old phone. Unpairing it will create a current backup. Once you get your new phone set up and working then pair your watch back to your new phone and it will restore from the last backup of the watch that it made when you unpaired it.
Ok, do I get this right?

Unpair watch, backup created on iPhone.
Plug in iPhone, so it backs up to iCloud. Give it enough time to complete iCloud backup.
New iPhone, when ready, you put in your iCloud credentials and it pulls watch backup from iCloud?

where does it put that backup when you unpair it? is it on the 13 and I will need to do quick start? I was going to restore from my 3 days old 15.6 backup on finder on my MacBook but maybe this requires I do quick start to get the backup from the 13???
It will store the backup of the watch on the phone that it is currently paired to. If you backup that phone to iCloud then it will back it up securely there. If you back up to your MacBook as long as you make an encrypted secure backup then it will store things like wifi-password and health data. If you don't make them encrypted, these settings will not be saved and you'll have to reconfigure them when you restore.

Is there a reason I _shouldnt_ do the CC pickup? I know which CC serves me and it opens at 8:30 on Friday. I guess it increases the risk of missorting? Or maybe I’m just overthinking it...

And to install that day 1 update, you have to do that before you load your current iOS 16.0 backup. That's the point, you can't just fire up the 14 and load your backup if it was done on iOS 16.0 on your current phone, you have to install the day 1 update first.
If I recall. As of iOS 15 or iOS 16 beta you’ll be prompted to update during setup right before the restore is done. That way after the fresh install is completed you can quickly proceed with the restore.

Yes, this is a great reminder! Thanks for posting this! I have a new watch coming in Friday, as well!

I'm probably on wave 1 or 2. I literally ordered the phone 1 minute after pre-orders went live and was charged almost immediately.

Edit: No ... no tracking number.
I’m in the same situation…I’ve tried every which way possible on UPS My Choice and made sure everything matches exactly correct, but still can’t get a tracking number to reveal itself. I’m confident I’ll get it on Friday as that’s what is still promised, but I can’t help but feel I’m missing out on the fun this year. Maybe things are different for Canada bound phones this time around 🤷🏻‍♂️ I’m super excited to follow this though and it’s fun to see all of your scans and flight tracking 🤩

Essentially yes. This document will walk you through the whole process step by step. :)
