Not sure if it's already been reported (too many pages!) but, for those of us in the Bay Area California with Oakland as our ups landing spot, mine left the Louisville facility at 1:19pm and is probably on UPS 2938 which took flight ~1:30. Currently winging itself closer.
They are pretty good at this stuff! The vast majority of people who saw 9/16 Delivery when the clicked "buy" will get their iPhones on Friday.
Just because it's not yet noted in the iPhone's itinerary doesn't mean that it won't happen. I think it's noted in an early morning email from UPS reminding you that you requested that they hold it for you. They are kind that way.

I have 4 more weeks of waiting thanks to T-Mobile and there system crash. Was hoping I would get moved up to sooner, but donāt think that has ever happened for me so not counting on it.

Tomorrow's going to be a fun day. Already got the confirmation of the phone being delivered tomorrow, yesterday I ordered a Series 8 from Verizon (getting it dirt cheap with discounts and trade in) and that's also arriving tomorrow - had notification on that from UPS. My wife better not want us to go shopping tomorrow afternoon, that's all I can say.
Funny, a few minutes ago I heard what I imagined was a UPS truck pull up. I started towards the door and heard a knock and saw the UPS brown dressed driver at the door. I joked with him, "Hey, my iPhone is a day early". He was apparently not impressed with my humor and just handed me the device to sign for my Lanyard for my new AirPods Pro 2 case that won't be here for another week.
That momentary thrill of thinking the iPhone has finally arrived! And strange as I will be picking mine up at the CC tomorrow morning rather than waiting to hear that track rattle down my street again before I hold the box.
