So Dan Ric is out of F1 again, he should be, no better than the bloke he replaced, not sure what the fuss was about, Dan Ric brings nothing better to the party, he has no right to be on the grid, out in Q2, really not sure what the fuss was about, he is so mid field, even Suzie Wolff might have done better... Dan Ric is a joke..

Alpha Tauri has been knocked out of Q1 the last 4 races. Daniel delivered by putting it back in Q2 again, something that Tsunoda and DeVries were failing to do these last 4 races.

Daniel managed to do 1 in session that DeVries failed to do all season long. And this is despite never driven this car before.

And check again where Alpha Tauri is, they are the worst team on the grid. Putting that car in 12th is very good. Especially since it's his 1st time driving the car.

0.003s during a one lap qualifying won't translate to a materially improved race pace. Sky were hilarous with their commentary like Lewis already won tomorrow and insinuating RBR has had it. Too funny. Luckily Torpedo George is at the back of the grid. Roll on the actual race.

Exactly. Did he beat his teammate? Yes he did. That is really the measure of how well you did at any team.
I think we will see Daniel in that RB sooner rather than later. Unless of course Max gets his way. He doesn’t want a fast teammate!

Codswallop, I get you don't like Max for whatever obscure reason, but don't start making up stuff.

I don't get the hype around Dan Ric, he is at best mid field, he sadly was at his best in the worst teams, against Lewis, now against Max, there are maybe 2 or 3 F2/F3 drivers that might actually be a bit faster, a bit braver, maybe willing to risk just that 1% more.. F1 is becoming a retirement home for failed drivers, way too many seats taken by old men that refuse to accept they are not up to the standard..Rosberg made the right decision, champ to retired driver... There are so many formula that Alonso, Ric, Bottas, other drivers that really should move on, Alonso bless him, but he is so past his best.. We are being robbed of brilliant racing by tired old men... F1 is now stupid as a result..

Alonso is still a great driver. Stick him in the RB and see how he measures up to Max. Not saying he would beat him, but I think it would be interesting.
Nico bailed because he knew he would never beat Lewis. I also think the emotional turmoil of that season meant he didn’t want to continue.

Piastri is the best of the best F2 has to offer as the reigning F2 champion (and F3 champion before that) and he cannot beat Norris.

So what makes you think F2 drivers can beat "old men" like Lewis and Alonso who are even better than Norris? Also Nick De Vries is a former F2 champion and he got destroyed by Tsunoda. And as a F2 champion, DeVries was literally the best of the best of F2.

So i think you are really overestimating how "good" these youngsters are. There is a reason why these "old men" are still around in F1 and get paid like they do.

Daniel did a test recently and after only 7 laps, he did a time so fast that would have put that Red Bull on the front row of the grid. Marko was so impressed by this, he immediately fired DeVries and put Daniel in that car. None of the "youngsters" were able to do what Daniel did.

It's an opinion, however looking at the facts, it is also clear that there is no actual basis in reality for that opinion. Age is just one part in top sport, and just a number. There is so much more to it as week in week out is being demonstrated. So on the contrary, when these 'old men' retire, you actually gain a false sense of how 'good' some of these youngsters are.

Over, and over again it is being demonstrated that it is quite a big step up to F1 in all aspects, not just the cars. Very few are capable of handling that.

I applaud any maturity in F1. But I certainly wouldn’t attend a sport that bored me.

Like with every sport, sponsorship plays a huge factor in sport and those putting up the money will want to see results. Sponsors will not be foolish into thinking that the team/people they sponsor will be No.1 but they will be under no illusion as to the performance of the team/player they are sponsoring thus the sponsor will be looking for improvements over the year(s) if they are to continue with their sponsorship and that means contracts will be drawn up that have performance clauses in them, not only for the driver but for the car as well. Certain performance figures will be expected for continued sponsorship and therefore team principles will be looking to see who can achieve the performances required per stipulations in the sponsorship contract and if that means an old but experienced driver can deliver the performances required then the team principle will hire the old driver over a younger one who could struggle over the year.

Money talks in F1 and that means do teams take risks every year with new younger fresh drivers coming up through the ranks of motorsport or does the team stick with the old and tested drivers who they know can still deliver a performance. Sponsors want their team and their driver up there winning and they pay handsomely for that to happen and when that does not happen, telephone calls and meetings start to happen getting the team principle to explain what is going on. Sponsors can wield a lot of pressure on a team when they want someone hired or fired. Like I said, money talks in F1.

Like tanking of Red Bull Sales in Mexico if RBR were to fire Checo prior to the end of 2023. 😏

Red Bull has plenty of young drivers they could have drawn from, but Alpha Tauri desperately needs an experienced driver who can work with the team engineers to develop what is clearly the worst-performing package on the grid. Putting a young F2 or F3 driver in that seat is just going to at best result in them floundering around in the bottom five places like DeVries and more than likely going to result in DNFs that will gain the team no data on how to improve the car and AT will end up last in the Constructors Championship behind Williams. And when one of your teams is #1 and the other is #10, that's not a good look.

This is why Marko put in Daniel and, frankly, why Daniel took the drive since he knew if he passed it by for a hopeful better future offer, he might end up with no seat (again) when the musical chairs end in Abu Dhabi come November.

And Ferrari's strategy once again is going to cost them points.

It says something about how s**t your Team Strategists are that the driver (in this case, Sainz) has to develop his own race strategy on the fly to try and salvage something.

Wow what a start to the race. Max easily taking the first corner and the lead immediately. Oscar jumping into the gap left by Lewis, and the. Lando also overtaking Lewis. Great driving by Red Bull and McLaren.

Lewis on the radio “ I am sorry about that guys” oops.

Not sure why Lewis is struggling so hard, considering George was able to drive through the field to be right behind him before he just pitted.

IMO, Lewis’ Pole yesterday was simply him overdriving the car, as he is one of few able to do that. The emotional release yesterday must have been like opening the flood gates.

Today I think he is emotionally not 100%. Still allot of laps left….

Perez is very fast in the races, which shows how fast that Red Bull really is. He really needs to fix his qualifying problems.

He drives a Mercedes, a slow car. That Mercedes didn't belong to be pole position.

And yet Russell is really tearing through the field in the same car while Lewis is just treading water in place.

Maybe it is just George is motivated since he started so far back and Lewis is not since his start was so poor.

Going through "backmarkers" is totally different than fighting Red Bulls and Mclaren which are faster cars.

A Mercedes car is still better than an Alpha Tauri or a Williams, they are not that bad.

George had a bit of luck with the alpines as well. Unlike Daniel who got stuck with them.

Ferrari though still having big team issues there. Sad to see.

What is Perez doing? Even Lewis is driving faster than him at the moment. He won't get 2nd place driving slow like that.
