F1 threatening to put up "Blocking Barricades" in front of all the Clubs and Establishments along the track unless each establishment pays a "$1,500 Licensing Fee" for each individual that will be inside during the race.

Vegas is going to be a disaster.
Wasn’t it always? We need better tracks not PR stunts.

Weh had Brundlefly and that that other imbecile... Who'd you have?
David Coultard. Alex Jaques. Billy Munger.
Channel four highlights. The show is a few hours. You just have to avoid the results for a while.
Also the evening is a better time for me.
Mrs AFB isn’t an F1 fan.

Oh and it’s free. And I’m as tight as a pair of skinny jeans on a middle age man!

Yeah, I found it very odd that no one from Sky comms team actually thought about the track and the cars that race on them... The track was built when cars were the size of go karts, now they are the size of SUV, and no longer fit the track, the 2023 car is too big for the minute tracks they race on, the cars need to shrink, or the tracks scaled up to match the new 2023 proportions of the cars.. Why is this such a hard concept to understand... The FIA completely forgot the cars are 4 times bigger in scale than in 1980..

Bigger cars are safer though right? So I'd think they could/should update as many tracks/courses as possible.

Although I would like to see smaller cars again. I wonder what the size difference is between a '97 car and a '23 car?

And if you could make a smaller car as safe as they are now? Surely they could? You might have to sacrifice topline speed though.

Bigger does not make it safer, F1 and lower formula cars are made primarily from carbon fibre, for really one reason, safety, as in the case of a serious accident, the amount of energy in the accident needs to be used up, and to use this energy, it is used to delaminate the carbon fibres, as to reduce the amount of energy on the human driver....

There are no airbags, so making the car bigger was only there to accommodate the modern technology, if we went back to a simpler system, using vodka water instead of batteries, the car would be scaled down....

The drawback to this is now the car is actually too small for modern high def television, so what is we want? A better looking car we can actually see on 75 inch tv's or cars that fit the tracks and that can overtake where the track was designed for overtaking back when cars fitted the track and 4:3 tv screens??

Found this....

Honestly, this is not an issue. I don't mean this aimed at you, but F1 fans seem convinced problems exist where they don't, whilst other series do just fine. I watch more non-F1 than F1 series now days - car size on the screen is not an issue.

Regarding the size of the cars:

The length is due to
- extended crash structures for driver
- fuel tank to do the entire race
- battery and hybrid system
- additional crash sturcture for the fuel tank and batteries

The problem still remains, the cars are longer, NOT wider, NOT taller, than before, which is odd, as I would have thought they would have been wider, but NO, just longer, nose to rear, which is why they still just manage to fit the tracks such as Monaco, and Monaco without the barriers, and tiny street circuits, barely fit... Through this thread I have too learned a few things.

They're longer because that's where you need the extra crash structure. Side impact, the cars have always been extremely good. Front and rear impacts are where you start getting odd spinal injuries caused by spinal compressions that you can't solve as easily. The current cars have massive crash structures - mostly in front of the front axel, which acts as a bulkhead, but also behind it. Additionally, the gearbox crash structure is massive to accommodate similar from the rear, but also to predict the hybrid system. These longer crash structures make front and rear impacts less severe, to cause less spinal compression.

What a truly dreadful race, I can’t think of much that was positive apart from seeing the McLaren’s back at the front. Perez getting the fans sympathy for DOTR and the trophy getting broken in an amusing moment. It’ll at least have an interesting story behind it even if Horner wants Lando to pay €60k for a new one. Roll on 2024 I say, I’m struggling to remain interested if I’m honest. Bigger things to worry about though and a very first world problem.

Almost as bad as the $50,000 USD "Apple Sneakers" on page one........

Yay, the Grand Prix of Formula 1 in Belgium :) Another weekend to watch a fine race, and hopefully a focussed super Max. I'm eagerly awaiting it, exciting.

Max has a 5 place grid penalty for swapping too many parts.
Shame it’s not 5 laps. Then we might see a different winner!

The only person who has a car that is fast enough to fight Max is Perez. And you know how Perez is the worst driver on the grid, getting beat all the time by people with much slower cars than him.

Will be funny if Perez is clumsy and takes out Max by accident when Max tries to overtake him.

Will also be interesting to see how Ferrari will end up beating themselves with some crazy strategy calls that makes no sense.

Yes, it was. But this move really shows F1's current state of mind.
Money money money MOooney! You know the song, even Lewis was in some documentary and was walking along with Botas I think and he said 'cash is king' in the sport, to which Botas agreed.
