Wow, what a race. No need for for a second coffee this morning. ;)

Master Class by Carlos despite the Ferrari Flop on the VSC. Congratulations to Lando on P2.

Devastated for George. P3 was his.

Impressive drive by Max to P5 in the RB19 given the circumstance.

Best race for a long long time, great win by Carlos. So cool to see Lando second and gutted for George. Happy Lewis was able to pick up third instead though. Amazing what motivation can be seen visibly in the drivers by a mix up of the order .
I would have been gutted if Carlos had lost but still elated with a win by any of those four.

I seriously thought RUS was going to pull it off until the last two laps.

Yes, I was hoping, praying, for Carlos to win, not that I am a Ferrari supporter, but more about he did so well and man it would have just ruined the event, would have been happy if George had won.. But in the end, this was the race we have wanted for years and years, this race will live on, it was insane...

Definitely one of the better races this year. Its always better to me when the racing is close, and there's not a runaway winner. Brilliant drive from Sainz, so a well deserved win for him.

Just finished it (starts at 5AM so I waited until 8AM to catch the VOD on ESPN) and yes, it was amazing.

Even without the hindsight of seeing how the race unfolded, I believe Ferrari made the right choice keeping Sainz on his Hards. He had done an excellent job in protecting their life and with only fresh Softs available, I do not believe they would have survived against the fresh Mediums on the Mercedes.

I do believe they should have pitted LeClerc for fresh Softs as he probably could have gotten past Lando and then helped hold off the hounds and he might have ended up a bit higher.

Congratulations to Lando on P2.

Carlos did a fantastic job of helping Lando hold off George. It's great to see drivers think tactically and understand helping others can also help oneself.

Devastated for George. P3 was his.

He is young and aggressive and that aggressiveness sometimes bites him in the bum, as it did here. Lewis showed the benefit of the years of seasoning he has acquired, but then I remember when he was young and aggressive too and it bit him in the bum (China 2007, for example). The pairing really do benefit Mercedes and once they get the chassis squared away, they will be a major threat.

Impressive drive by Max to P5 in the RB19 given the circumstance.

IMO that P5 was purely down to having much fresher tires than the drivers he was passing for the last stint. When he was on Hards and everyone else was on Mediums, he was not really able to advance from his starting position. For whatever reason(s), the RB19 was just lost at sea on that track and as talented a driver as Max is, he just could not do anything with that machine.

I feel for Alonso. Aston clearly does not have the in-season development budget the peer factory teams (McLaren and Alpine) have and it clearly showed this race.

What a race. Those last few laps were the best of the season. Ferrari got the strategy 50% right. I think if they had pitted LeClerk they would have helped themselves. He had a free pit stop.
If I was Mercedes I’d have split the strategy. They may have got 2 and 3. To be honest at the end I think Lewis had more pace than George, so fighting each other cost some time.
Lando drove really well. Happy to see him get 2nd.

Sadly next race will be business as usual for RB.

Haven't seen the race today, I’m going to try and see if I can watch it on my Apple TV and VPN with the new OS update tomorrow, fingers crossed. I’ve had so much trouble due to Apples damn VPN bug to get it to Airplay from my iPad or iPhone with the F1 app.

Bloody hell, Red Bull really messed up big time. It just shows what a great driver Max Verstappen is that despite everything happening, he still managed to get 5th place, and very nearly fourth.

It was nice for Carlos and Lando, though, great to see them on the podium.

Odd, I'm abroad and had to use a VPN as well and watch it on an iPad, which worked just fine. I pretended I was in Cyprus ;) Latest iOS, ProtonVPN, no bugs…

It works on my iPad etc, it’s just when I try to Airstream it to my Apple TV is when it doesn‘t work.

So I updated to Apple TV OS 17, and only one VPN app in the store, called UK VPN, set it up and it’s working fine with the F1 TV app, looks really good too, very smooth.
Just watched the Williams drive all the way round spreading carbon bits everywhere to the pits, THEN they call a safety car… race directors as efficient as usual then.🤦‍♂️

What a win by Carlos! Using great strategic tactics, Russell showing he’s still a rookie. And Lando did brilliantly to hold off the two Mercs pushing.

I think had Mercedes switched Russell and Hamilton, it might have been a bit more of a problem for Lando. It did remind me a bit of the Rosberg days where Hamilton applied the pressure and forced his teammate into a mistake. Great racing to watch though and the way Carlos and Lando worked together to protect their positions was brilliant.

Sadly Max’s form has returned in FP1 in Japan. But Sainz and Norris are keeping him honest.
Mercedes didn’t run on the softs so didn’t set a representative time.
LOL Max never lost his form. Did you seriously think that?
