Pretty much. I expect LeClerc to finally win at Baku, but if Piastri somehow takes him for the Checkered...do they still support Lando or do they prioritize winning the CC?

Devastating for Lando. Some say he was caught out by the Yellow Flag for Ocon and others say he just stuffed it in a corner and ran wide onto the curb.
He seems to thrive on these tight street circuits...

Colapinto & Albon in the top 10 !! Nice. Bearman too thanks to the guys with power unit issues!

Just fantastic. Absolutely sublime racing up to Lap 48. Such outstanding driving up front. No 2nd cup of coffee this morning……

Master Drive from Oscar. Watch this space…

I don’t see anything else Charles could have tried. Great drive from Sergio until Carlos decides to give Ferrari a Parting Gift.

WDC lead now at 59. On to Singapore.

We’ve got ourselves a title fight, awesome drives by both McLaren drivers. I think those team orders will be discussed again in the coming two races. I think Max is watching this one slip away this year but at least it’s entertaining.

The Pawpaws should stick to Version 1 of the rules, they have a bad habit of going from hero to clowns in less than 2 hours...Charles LeClerc mugged them 1 race back... so payback...

I have we heard anything from Sainz?

Did he not see Checo?

Carlos claims he didn’t see Sergio. MO is this was a 50/50. Obviously they were both trying for Charles’ slip stream. Charles moved L. Carlos came L to catch it. Sergio was already in that lane.

Sure, he could have moved L. He wasn’t obligated to……….

It was a strange accident indeed. They both seemed to drift into each other. Very odd.

Oscar drove an outstanding race. Not sure how many laps Charles had DRS in second. Quite a lot.
Great recovery drive from Lando. He should not have been able to out score Max after qualifying. But he did.
59 points in it for the drivers.
Shame it was the other RBR that had the DNF.

McLaren are now the championship leaders by 20 points. Even Ferrari are only 31 behind.

Max is all under investigation for passing under the VSC. Not sure what the punishment could be for that.

Max escaped punishment in an article I just read, lucky lad.

This season reminds me of a recent season, in which a certain driver could have won a title, but failed at the last race due to obtaining not enough points to buy himself a title.. Words like robbery/crime bandied about..

You see in order for Max to win the title, and if he has a bad race, the best thing the number 2 driver can do, is take points from the opposition, To have Lando take points of Max, Those points should have gone to Perez, sort of the thing that should have happened in '21, when Bottas should have taken points of Max [3 times 2nd places in Bahrain/Spain/Portugal] but Bottas finished 3rd 3 times, and this was +9 points in favour of Max, and at the end of the day, 1 more than Lewis.. So in the next 7 events, Perez's only task, rob points from Lando.. As long as Max is +1 ahead at the flag in Abu Dhabi, he is WDC.. Look it is not that hard.. But Perez is playing the role of Bottas in season 21.. not a great series if you are Merc's number 1 hot snot...

Well Perez is performing stronger since the Summer Break. The Race believes this is because Red Bull is finally listening to his observations about how poorly the RB20 is handling - though it took for Max to also fall off a cliff before they gave his insights any credence.

TheRace article was spot on IMO. I’ll admit I was disregarding Sergio as well. I need more evidence though. Baku is a Sergio biased circuit.

He was very racey yesterday.
Yes he was. He was staying with Charles and Oscar for the most part.

Then Carlos decided to implement strategy F.

“I just don’t know what happened. I just don’t know. I was on my racing line I was using all race. I just don’t know what happened.”

I’m sure Oscar was pondering if Charles would be upset as he took the line to pass.

Seriously Carlos???

I saw the Perez and Sainz incident as more Perez’s fault after watching it a couple of dozen times. No idea why he tucked himself right next to Sainz’s side-pod while partially alongside. Both seemed to move slightly towards each other but Checo had the most foresight I think. A silly incident for both really and completely avoidable.

I still think it was 50/50

But I like the idea of it not being Carlos' fault. I belive they both wanted to catch the draft from LeClerc.

I can respect that. It’s simply the more I watch the Carlos’ interview after his meeting with the stewards he seems disingenuous.

It looks different from different angles. From head on it’s on Sainz and from Perez’s onboard view it’s mostly on him. Checo had more space and a better view of the situation, so he should have probably given Carlos more room. All in all though it adds up to a racing incident.

Max's driving style does not favor street circuits, so I could see Perez outperform him at Singapore and Las Vegas. Red Bull has upgrades that they believe will significantly improve overall car performance at Austin, Brazil and Qatar so Lando and McLaren need to make hay at Singapore and Las Vegas as well as be ready for a possibly resurgent Max and RB20 when the circus comes back from break at COTA.
