Wow got sent a video of a Japanese Judo champion in women's judo (52 kg category) and who won gold in Japan lst time losing and getting eliminated by an Uzbek athlete. She had a sever breakdown. No comment.

Judo defeat

The Uzbek girl is a force.
A bit like the breakdown American tennis player CoCo Gauff had after her 3rd loss to Croatian Donna Vekic, claiming she was cheated out of a potential victory.

Ms Gauff was one of the favorites to win a medal.

I welcome the Olympics, both Summer and Winter, for many reasons. One of the things I really like is the opportunity to watch sports that are normally difficult to see or to attend (for example, in the region where I live, short track speed skating and team handball).

Professionals competing doesn't bother me as long as the level of play is raised up as a result. But I'm less likely to watch sports such as tennis, where the Grand Slam tournaments offer plenty of chances to see the same players, or basketball, because the Dream Team is too dominant and most non-USA teams only have a single NBA player.

I actually participated in the '02 Winter Olympics! But as a musician, not an athlete:

I'm on the left, keyboards/fiddle/harmonica/vocals (I wasn't patting myself on the head, the photographer caught me mid-wave)

We actually got to do two shows. The first was in the Ogden bandshell the first week of the Games, 19º F; glad we only played one 45-minute set, our hands weren't working too well by the end. The second show, shown here, was in front of the Salt Lake County Courthouse

Closing ceremonies were the next night, and it was a balmy 45º, much more pleasant and had a nice crowd. Despite the massive security measures (this was five months after 9/11) this was an absolute blast!

She was. She heard the "out" call and let up. The chair umpire should have simply replayed the point which he had the power to do.

The Italian fencer, Filippo Macchi, is a class act.🤗🤗🤗 I don't know enough about fencing to know if he was robbed of the Gold as the Italian delegation claims, but he accepted the referees' decisions. If it took experts watching the final point 3 times to make a decision, it could have gone either way. Most athletes would be pissing and moaning about being cheated.

On a related note: Hong Kong fans are trash.😒

That used to be the case, but not anymore.

Australia - 9
Canada - 9
France - 4 (could have 5 if Embiid played for them instead of USA)
Germany - 4
Serbia - 4

And some of these players aren't from the end of the bench. There are MVP's and other Max and SuperMax level players on some of these teams.

Still none of them should be there.

Could have been robbed. Apparently, fencing is a highly rigged sport.

Was it just the public you played to or was there Olympic athletes there?. Great story by the way :)

Team GB doing rather well so far

I do love the exposure of other sports we’d never usually watch during the olympics. Apart from the weird opening ceremony, it’s been very enjoyable.

Hey, they finally let the swimmers in the Seine.

Not sure who thought that swimming in a major city river was a good idea.

Wut!? If I were an Olympic swimmer, I'd pass on taking a dip in those polluted waters.

Coriolanus Snow, of course. May the odds ever be in your favor.😏

Edit: I read about a swimmer who vomited after swimming in the Seine. I'm hoping that's the only problem he will experience. I've know people whose health deteriorated (infection, parasite) after swimming in polluted/sewage water.😬

Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo 'showed that Seine should be clean enough to swim in' by doing it herself before the Olympics. They have cleaned the river out a lot I've read.

WOW - our Sarah Sjöström took her 1st gold 🥇

In a distance (100 meter freestyle) she first didn’t planned to participate in, though she still have the world record herself in it. She's totally amazing!

But is Parisian Sewage, so it must be okay. And if someone got sick it is because they are not accustom to the rich & flavorful Parisian Sewage.

The news reports about the swimmer vomiting are a disgrace because all of them have tried to insinuate that the vomiting was due to the effects of being in the water. None of the news articles say that it was due to the water but they try to imply it by first making it known that the river had high levels of E.Coli in it which the authorities had been monitoring for months prior to the Olympics. Then after they mention about the high levels of E.Coli they then immediately mention about the swimmer vomiting. It is clear the intention of the news media, they are trying to imply that the swimmer was affected by the polluted waters.

Now here is the problem, you look into the symptoms of E.Coli and EVERY medical article states that anyone affected with E.Coli will start to show symptoms 3-4 days after being infected. The swimmer had only been in the water for a few minutes!!!. It is a medical impossibility for E.Coli to work that fast. The news media would have known this but they wanted to stir up trouble anyway.

The only way any of us will know if the levels of E.Coli in the river was enough to infect the swimmers is if we hear reports 3-4 days later that those who swam in the river are showing symptoms of E.Coli.

This is going to get awkward in female boxing. Two alleged women, one from Taiwan and the other Algeria who both failed gender eligibility tests at the Women's World Championships in India last year are banned from competing by the IBA because they had too much XY (Male chromosomes) in their body but have been allowed to compete in the Olympics because the IBA does not run Olympic boxing, the IOC does and one of them has just been in the ring with Italy boxer Angela Carini who battered her so much that Ms Carini quit within 46 seconds.

It has been the same issue with South African runner Caster Semenya who exploded onto the scene beating everybody in her path (note: note always beating everyone though). There were complaints about her, she was tested and was found to have elevated levels of testosterone in her body. World Athletics (formerly IAAF) had introduced testosterone testing in Women since 2011 because the then IAAF said having high levels of testosterone in the female body gives them advantages over other female athletes. The a court case in 2015 basically said the IAAF had to prove their argument that high levels of testosterone did give advantages. Testing was put on hold until 2018 when the then IAAF came back with evidence that high levels of testosterone in the female body does give them an advantage

source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caster_Semenya 2018 testosterone rule change
n a report explaining its decision, the IAAF wrote that there was a "broad medical and scientific consensus" that athletes with high testosterone can "significantly enhance their sporting potential" due to greater muscle mass, strength, and hemoglobin levels. The report added that "there is no other genetic or biological trait encountered in female athletics that confers such a huge performance advantage

The IAAF subsequently changed it's rules to that of any female athlete with DSD's (Disorder of Sex Development) (Semenya has DSD) above 5 nmol/L would be required to take medication to lower it.

The IAAF finally proved that a female having high levels of testosterone in her body DOES have an advantage over others. I believe this prompted other sports associations to look at their own testing which is why the IBA banned the two boxers in question for having high levels of XY chromosomes in their body.

The IOC has different acceptance criteria than the IBA hence why the IOC has allowed both boxers to compete in the Olympics.

Edit: Removed error in linking chromosomes and testosterone are the same thing.

I'm inclined to think it's most likely a gag reflex from inadvertently ingesting some polluted water. Similar to how if you drink dirty dishwater.🤮

The possibility exist that he might have overexerted himself. Since he's a world class athlete, that's very unlikely.

That's plain irresponsible. Taking risk with athlete's health for the sake of entertainment--our entertainment. Hunger Games vibes that. If water is so polluted that they have to run tests to make sure it's under a certain thresh hold that's playing Russian roulette with athlete's wellbeing. But hey, for 5 out of 6 players, Russian roulette perfectly safe.😏

There was no way France going to allow the swim not to take place because they have spent over a billion euro's cleaning up river for the Olympics and days before the Olympics the river was safe to swim in. Apparently ALL rivers have E.Coli in them, it is just how much that concerns people and apparently there is a medical scientific level that determines if a river is safe to swim in or not. According to news reports the safe level for the river had been low enough to be declared safe for at least a week and then what happens, down comes the rain, rain water is fed into the river from sewers and other pathways and E.Coli levels are too high again.

If any of the swimmers get ill from E.Coli I would expect there be lots of laws suits coming in against the IOC.

But most rivers is France are not nearly as dirty as the Seine going through Paris. It was a stunt for a photo shot in the shadow of the Eiffel Tower.

Don't forget there were poop protestors who were upset about the Olympics and threatening to poop in the Seine just to make it dirty.

There were plenty of places in France they could have held this event, they choose not to and if they get sued, then they deserve it.

That should be obvious, since animals 💩 too.

They could have the swimming leg of the event at the coast. Have the athletes run and bike towards Paris. The English Channel is a mere 120 miles from Paris, that's less a trip from Houston to Austin, Texas. I have had commutes to work that's longer than that.

Mondo (Armand Duplantis) might been one of the games most certain gold,in Polevault.🥇
Lucky that he were chosing his Mother's side, and gf, for his representation for Sweden early on.
He grew up in US with and have an American Father.
But he never had any competition from other Swedish polevaulter's, but not a lot more from the American's either. He totally plays in his own devision.
Raising the World record 1 cm at a time - best pay off, and why hurry, he have no competion on thise hights whatsoever 🥳

Watched him. He is truly above the rest. Loved how he was celebrating 6.25 as he was falling. He knew.

As for his GF, he might want to watcher her around the French pole vaulter. 😂
