We'll see what happens….not a great Sweden sprint-team out there.I saw an interview where Mondo mentioned that his PB on 100 meters was "about 10.5 seconds" from when he was 18 (6 years ago). In pole vaulting the run up is about 45 meters, and he's one of the fastest in the sport, so he should probably have an edge as a sprinter over Warholm.
He also mentioned that his main goal after the Olympic gold is now to learn to use starting blocks and eventually try to help the rest of the Swedish running team to beat the national record on the 4x100 m relay (38.63 seconds, set at the 1996 Olympics). He's clearly determined to win.
He has challenged Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce as well on 100 m, after she's back after her injury. 😄
Mondo is a joker, and everything he's up to outside pole-vaulting I take with a grain of salt until I see it happen.
Edit: If he was really serious, he should just start to run against other male 100 m runners!
But instead he create a circus around how good he is, and challenge a woman and a male 400m runner, and are going to ’help' the Swedish sprint team. The guy needs help to loose, obviously.
Nah, until he qualify to a 100 m (or 60 m indoors) this is just a charade to me.
