Might need to go into the overclocking section.Yeah, the ATI tray tools isn't showing me my card speed. =[
That's strange. It had 1680 x 1050 on my iMac Core Duo 20". It ran great on Medium textures at 1366 x 768 too!I don't seem to have an overclocking section. I see how the menu looks in the screenshots on the guru3d but i'm missing some of the sections like overclocking for some reason.
CoH on 1600 x 1200 - didn't have the res you were looking for eidor.
with everything on high/max minus AA like the previous one i posted.
average fps : 29.7
max : 58.0
min : 11.4
cheers. Just what I have been waiting for. I think around 60FPS is acceptable for CoH and 90FPS for BF2. I think if you could adjust the setting at native res to get close to that would be cool.![]()
Anyone know how hot these GPUs can get before they freeze.
The 65nm process makes them mighty cool.According to this review, the desktop versions should be fairly immune to overheating due to high clock speeds.
Anybody else out there think that the under-clocking may be a heat issue. iStatpro reports the GPU heat sensors at 65-70 while everything else is 45-50. Anyone know how hot these GPUs can get before they freeze.
Just out of curiosity, can the iMacs use the Catalyst drivers or do they need the Apple Bootcamp ones? Reason I say this is because ATI just released new ones.

well about 30mins ago i just upgraded to those catalyst drivers for my x1600and then gamed on cod2 online for about 30mins. it ran exactly fine. i didnt have fraps open so didnt notice any changes, but it most certainly does work equally if not betterly than b4.
Super to hear that! Now if we can get some of these wonderful, generous souls who have new imacs to comparison test for us...![]()
My iMac will be arriving at or before 12:00 noon EST tomorrow. I may have a couple spare hours to conduct benchmarks, tests, etc. Any actions I could perform that would help solve this mystery (aside from cracking the case open), detail here and I'll see about getting it done in a timely fashion.
Some confirmation would be nice. Chip ID and GPU clocks, like above. If you can get 3dmark06 running under bootcamp with the new Catalyst 7.8 drivers that would be good too. Cracking the case open would be best.![]()
uumm youd be looking at 80°C(ish). sometimes is hotter, maybe 85
I tried to install 3dmark06 to run a benchmark but it crashes my iMac during the initial scanning of my computer. I've tried multiple times.
The Catalyst drivers DO NOT work in XP. You have to rely on Apple's Boot Camp drivers.
From Futuremark: (seems to apply to the Radeon HD cards in the iMacs too)
Q: I just bought the ATI Radeon HD 2900XT and 3DMark06 freezes during the splash-screen. What is wrong and how can I fix this?
A: This is a known issue and we have been able to reproduce it in our test lab. The problem lays in an DLL which we use to detect the graphics cards' core and memory speeds. We are working on an update to correct this issue after which all Futuremark benchmarks should run fine with the latest offerings from all IHV's. Until then you can work around this issue either by renaming the "Direcpll.dll" file (found in %WINDIR%\system32\Futuremark\MSC\) to something else, or you can run the benchmark using the -nosysteminfo command line. Please note that if you use the -nosysteminfo command line, you will not be able to publish the result online. Futuremark will inform all its users when the update is available!
