yes, but is this ram ANY GOOD?
Or is it crap?

So, i have to get 2 different rebate coupons, and then i just go to the checkout?
Are the mail in rebates combinable? Because it says regular price is $48.17, then there is $7 off retail price, than a $13 mail in rebate.

I didnt mean Dell brand RAM.
I meant Dell is selling it, not ebay, not some 3rd part site, a major computer respected distributor.
AKA: It's fine.

ahhh, i see. I have no experience with OCZ, i thought it might be a dell brand or something?
Anyways, good to know

Anyone know if I can still get this deal if I am in canada?

I just thought about this. Can a Mac really run this RAM? I was thinking the timings on the RAM may not be the same because RAM for Apple computers seems to be locked regarding the timings. Anyone know?

All of my Macs that are using third party RAM are using "PC RAM".

It's not any different.

Come on, folks. Lest we forget in the marketing haze, an Apple computer is a PC computer with a TPM chip soldered on the motherboard that permits it to run OS X. They don't require magical memory, Apple-approved hard drives, or premium electricity to run. They're made in the same Chinese factories as every other PC on the market.

I know most of the parts are the same, but I see RAM on every website advertised separately as Apple RAM. I just wasn't sure if they used different timings that kept them from all from being interchangeable.

Guaranteed compatibility with said Apple hardware. Not that other identical components won't work either.

I've used Patriot, Crucial, and G.Skill in my personal Macs. They were never "Mac compatible" to begin with.

Search eBay for Dell RAM, the prices will most likely be higher. Even higher if you search a specific model. There will always be the less knowledgeable people who will buy something because it is guaranteed to work.

We all know better though. And how long have people here been buying third party RAM for these Intel Macs? Do you really think that all of a sudden compatibility will end when you buy these?

Well folks. Sorry for not knowing better. I've used Windows based computers up until 2 or 3 weeks ago when I got this MacBook on Craigs List.

Macs have never used any magic hardware when compared to every other PC OEM.

Just because we run OS X doesn't make our hardware alien to the rest of the Windows running world.

just bought two of the 2GB RAM sticks.

all for a grand total of = 45.32 before the $13 mail in rebate. :)

so $32.32

even without the rebate its a steal.

I've had my MBP since late Sept, but know very little about its internals.

Will this ram work for m 2.4 SR MBP, or is this for MB's only? (basically, is the type of ram/# of pins in the MBP and MB different? I don't know...)

If this will work in my MBP, I'm buying 2x2gb sticks right now...
