They have been doing "config locks" since I can remember. In order to get "x" processor you need "x" size SSD.

This is a good point - the config permutations lead you to notice the lack of an m5/256 option when really it's the presence of an m7/256 option that's abnormal compared to the rest of the Mac lineup.

Can only hope! Based on past experiences apple are pretty accurate with their dates.I'm still convinced ours will arrive before Wednesday.

My last Apple order from China was a few weeks ago and has export scan on a Friday and delivered on the following Tuesday. And that was only by UPS Standard - the MacBook seems to have been sent by UPS Expedited. Fingers crossed!Can only hope! Based on past experiences apple are pretty accurate with their dates.

Both mine and my wife's were just delivered. Her Rose Gold is absolutely breathtaking - it really needs to be seen in real life. She's in love with it!
VERY initial impressions - LOVE the size, absolutely LOVE the keyboard. These are the exact portable machines we were hoping they'd be. The weight is unbelievable. Extremely pleased so far.

Hi there, great to hear. I did go to the Apple Store yesterday to check out the new MacBooks, and rose gold was certainly attractive but very pink...ironically my wife's 2015 MacBook gold has a rose gold shade in certain angles...both are attractive though. I'm waiting on an M7 as well to be delivered next week.
Did you get an m7, if so, would love to see benchmarks, R15 cinebench or geek bench scores.
Happy to see you love your computer!Also if anyone may want to see cinebench scores of the 2016 base 1.1 model, I managed to install cinebench in the store and run them just for comparison to the 1.2 scores earlier in this thread. Very geeky, I know.

It seems that you prefer rose gold...are you regretful with your space grey choice?

NO! Absolutely not regretful at all. I should say the Rose Gold is breathtaking "for her" - The only reason I mention it at all is because I hadn't seen the Rose Gold MacBook - I've been looking at the Space Grey one (that I got) at the Apple Store for the last year - so I had no surprises of what mine looked like. The Space Grey is beautiful!
And we got the m3 models. I have a MacBook Pro for power, these machines are all about portability for us.
