Unless 3.1 is a major update (which I doubt right after the release of 3.0), they won't announce it at any event.
Good point, actually, but it's just as likely that they'll do a 3.0.2 just for small tweaks in the new iPod touch.
That I doubt because 3.0.1 fixed a "SMS Vulnerability". Since the iPTs don't have SMS it will either HAVE to be 3.0 or 3.1
MMS can be available through an AT&T update, nothing to do with the rest of the world. Especially if, as rumored, iTunes 9 will be out tomorrow and will have to do with the iPhone/iPod I suspect 3.1 to be out tomorrow.
A friend of mine is a developer and is having problems with his iPhone, the apple care guy told him on the phone to wait 9/9/09 for the new official firmware. Whether the apple care dude knows something or not I sure enough don't know.

If iTunes 9 is released tomorrow you better believe we will see 3.1 along side that.
MMS is something completely different and is already inside of the OS 3.0 What we will get is an update (much like the os updates in terms of initiating the update) on the 25th that unlocks this feature. All it is, is the carrier file that allows the OS to display and activate MMS.
I believe we will see OS 3.1 out tomorrow or before the end of the week.

To the op. Can u go get a hobby? Posts with mms by such n such a date. Polls about os release dates and hardware updates are getting bloody boring. I clicked veiw new posts earlier and the top 10 were about mms and iPod updates. What's wrong with using the original threads?????

I hope your joking cause it wont be "tomorrow" in California for another 14 hours or so plus the press conference isn't for another 24 hours.
I think AT&T already told us when 3.1 is coming. They said MMS will be available September 25th along an iPhone Software update.
I think that should be enough for a smart mind.

just kidding, AT&T is,I believe, the only one not offering mms on the iPhone, but we'll see
I voted neither. OS 3.1 will come out next summer because that's when Apple has been releasing all iPhone OS's.
