Best thing about my 8 Plus for me is the insane battery life and bigger, wider screen over my old 6. The much better camera, True Tone, wireless charging, and haptic home button are all benefits as well I enjoy! I look forward to getting a X Plus in a couple years! The 8 Plus does everything I need it to do right now! It’s a great upgrade from the 6!

So, two months later you bought the iPhone 8+ and kept it 3 months

BTW my entire family owns iPhones and my company uses them. 6's thru X's. Never heard anyone complain about call quality---

It seems that the OP has a problem with every phone he gets. You should go Android and maybe you would be happy for a change.
Android is not the option when you are stuck in iOS eco system??

My personal thoughts on iPhone 8+
What I don't like:-

: Display is dated compared to the competition
: Bezels too thick
: No headphone jack (sucks)
: Heavy
: camera bump

What I like :-

: Stereo speakers (sound better than X)
: 16:9 aspect ratio
: Battery Life
: Home button and touch-id
: Classic Design and Space grey color
: Camera

I have both the 8 and 8 Plus. The 8 Plus has some weight to it, sure, but I like how it has some heft to it, for a big phone. For the smaller 8 I also like how it feels so lightweight, for a small phone that I can wrap around in it’s entirety, I am not paranoid that it will fly out of my hand. So in essence, for a large phone heft is welcomed, but not so much on a small phone. At least for me anyways. Having said that though, I can definitely appreciate how much more lightweight and smaller the 8 is, after having immediately handled it’s larger brother.

I don’t mind the bezels actually, and see there’s a practical side to it, at least I can easily handle it in landscape mode and not have my thumb or finger get in the way of the screen. Nice to have a placeholder for my finger other than the edge of the phone.

The 8 Plus is a monster in terms of battery life, given it’s battery size I would say it’s the efficiency of the A11 chip and software that makes it last as long as it does. On the Android side of things, my Huawei Mate 9 needed 4000mAh battery to give me similar battery life.

I like the home button. I much prefer the aspect ratio of the 8 Plus over the new and trendy 18:9. For video consumption I still feel 16:9 gives me a much better viewing experience. The audio jack is a non issue for me personally.

Both phones grow on my daily, having both makes me appreciate both differences so much more.

I don't have a problem with a person objecting to some things Apple does, or not liking certain features or omissions of some Apple products. That is to be expected. Apple won't please everyone.

What i do take umbrage with, is the OP's lengthy history of constant Apple product bashing even before a product is released. He states that the product is boring, or whatever flavor description of the day or week. He states how he hates this, that and the other about iPhone models x,y, and z, and then goes out buys the product, and then complains about the very same reasons why he said he wouldn't get the product in the first place.

The OP has one record and he plays it over and over and over. After a while, logic would dictate, that if one is not happy with the products from Apple, that one should stop spending money on said products and find something else that will make you happy, instead of constantly complaining on the forum about the same things. Engaging in the aforementioned mindset over and over and expecting different results is foolish, especially when one is not being objective, rational and understanding that there is no such thing as perfection in life, much less from a company.

In my opinion, someone that engages in this kind of ongoing behavior is seeking attention on the forum.

Sorry, call quality for ALL cell phones sucks because they are too cheap and do not care to give enough bandwidth to assure quality sound. Sucks. Very similar to the way airplanes are too cheap to provide good air.

Thanks for the heads up on the OP. Definitely on the ignore list for me now.

I have the 8+, having come from the 6s. It’s nice. I do so much with it - productivity-wise. Typing on it will spoil you. But I got it primarily for the 56mm lens, yet I’m disappointed in the image quality. So I barely use it and stick mostly to the wide.

My main issue with the plus model is lugging the thing around. I do long for a smaller chassis. If there is an update to the se, I might be temped depending on the specs.

Thanks for all your feedback. I am probably going to get an 8+ in the fairly new future.

Just have a silly question for you all. Can you use the landscape keyboard using Facebook and/or Twitter app's? On my launch day 6, I used to be able to use a landscape keyboard on Twitter. But no more. And the only way I can use the landscape keyboard on Facebook is when I post a photo. Otherwise, I am stuck with that teeny-tiny portrait mode keyboard on my small iPhone 6 screen. Pain in the butt.

Am still going to wait for Galaxy S9 reviews. But more than likely will stick with the iPhone for now.

My thoughts also. If Apple offers an SE 2, I will for sure purchase one. Just carrying around a larger iPhone is too cumbersome and not comfortable in my pocket. I owned the first SE, given it lacks some of the technology the newer iPhones have, I am willing to sacrifice that for the sake of comfortability.

Thanks for the input, OP. And I don't see anything wrong with someone posting likes/dislikes. It helps give a more well rounded review. I mean, very few things in life that I have bought have absolutely no con's whatsoever. And Apple isn't a perfect company. And they don't issue perfect products either. Especially when personal tastes are involved.

I am leaning towards the iPhone 8+ myself. I am slightly afraid of the weight of it, considering I am coming from an aluminum bodied phone and going to the glass-backed one. But I think I will enjoy the bigger screen real estate that the 8+ will give me. Especially when seeing the occasional video clip.

The gold is definitely lighter than the gold color of my iPhone 6. Though in person it doesn't look all that different. Still haven't seen a Space Gray phone in person. That color is intriguing to me. Will probably go back and forth until I actually decide to purchase the darned thing.

Thanks again for the review, OP.

Just curious? In other threads you are saying you are waiting for 6.5 inch iPhone and iPhone X is small for your standards? Do you think iPhone SE screen will be comfortable for your usage.

Do you think you will be comfortable using iPhone X Plus if you are planning to buy one.

I did the reverse. I switched from Android to Apple after years of being dissatisfied with both hardware and software offered.

The SE was my introduction to Apple, which I still have. Just picked up an 8 about 2.5 weeks ago now, and I love it.

I miss carrying the SE, but I love having the 8. It’s a wonderful device in my opinion.

I am still loving my 8+. I can see the appeal of the slightly smaller X but not enough to warrant me switching at this time.

8 Plus user here - I upgraded from a 6S in December.

I'm pretty much happy with my 8 Plus in every way. I can't think of any downsides or annoyances. All is good :)

There's one or two minor iOS niggles, but that's not the device's fault.

Time, because it rules EVERYTHING!
I have just sold my X on eBay after ongoing issues with the screen flicker/PWM and not liking the overall weight. Bought a non-plus 8 and love it. Its light, small and wireless charging like the X is a boon. I don't care for all the 'features' of the X over the 8 and the notch annoyed me.

How are people getting on with the 8/+ without a case? How tough is this phone? I would prefer not to bother with one.

Hi, as someone who has gone from the X to the 8, in terms of one handed use how different are they? Is the 8 easier to use because it doesn’t have the screen stretching down to the bottom, do you find yourself having to move vet the X around in your hand more then the 8 to use it one handed? Also how different have you found the cameras?

Happy overall, nothing earth shattering from my 7+ but until there's a larger X this was the way for me to go. No complaints. I do enjoy both wireless charging and quick charging.

I can honestly say the 8 plus is my all time favorite phone. It’s also my first iPhone. Coincidentally, my wife says her X is also her favorite phone ever. Add in an Apple Watch and we’re not even paying attention to the new galaxy phones this year. It was a yearly tradition to buy the new galaxy every year for us. Going to stay with Apple for a while I think.

Best overall phone is still probably the note 8, but I’m happier with my 8 plus if that makes sense. Wish I had switched sooner.

I bounced back and forth from Motorola to HTC and am very satisfied with my 8 plus 256gb SG iPhone. I have 6 seasons of TV shows downloaded, 2 movies, multiple audiobooks, podcasts, music, etc. Copied my wallpapers and photos over too. The memory is still only about one third full. (I consume a lot of media content being an OTR driver.)
