I know this is a "cool story bro," but I just don't seem to have much use for my 32gb 3G iPad. I wanted one so bad until I eventually got one as a gift. It just seems to sit. I have a MacBook pro and an iPhone 4. Am I weird because I don't use it? I feel like it's such an awesome device, I just don't need it. I wish it had flash.

Anyone have any comments or similar stories?

I know how you feel. I have a MB and an IP4 and I just bought my iPad. It will be going back to Apple as I just can't seem to justify having something solely based on its coolness factor.

I can wait till Rev. 2 comes out.

I also have an iPad 3G 32 gig and a Mac book. The Macbook is the one that sits and Im planning on selling it. The iPad is in use as much as my iPhone 4.

Eventhough it doesn't have flash? It's nice that the browser runs so smoothly, but you just can't eliminate half of the Internet.

What is Rev. 2 going have that's going to suddenly make it useful to you?

Half the Internet? You must be joking. If you think not having flash allows you to only look at half the Internet, you're delusional.

For this comment alone you need to return it. Clearly you don't know how little flash matters on the iPad or to most of the net.

It's not that the 2nd gen is going to have something I want (no one knows whats coming with it), but their are many things that can be upgraded:

Screen (Even time I put down my IP4 and look at the iPad screen, its like a blow below the belt. The screen can't compare.)
Memory (at least 512mb of ram, 1 GB would be nice)
More abilities over wireless (Printing, Playing music via Airport Express)

Now none of this is promised. I don't __NEED__ an iPad at this time, so I can live without it. If these things are upgraded a long with making it more verstaile as far as computing abilities, I am sold. As of now, between my iPhone and my MB, the iPad is just a toy that I can't find any good uses for due to limitations.

Also when I first seen Multi-Touch introduced, I was hoping that the iPad would be similar, but its not.

This is what I want to be able to do with my iPad:

Gen 2 will not just be magical, but mutha fu**** magical, ya feel me?!?

To be honest, I don't get the obsession with flash. It has only prevented me from viewing 5 or 6 websites in their entirity since I've had the iPad (5 weeks now). And of those, all but one were using flash for advertising, so really it was a blessing in disguise. Bottom line is that the inability to use Flash has in no way hindered my productivity.

Flash, in my opinion, is overvalued by most - it's just a damn media player, and a buggy one at that (30% or so of the time I use a Flash based website on my PC I have problems, such as freezing, failure to load etc.) that was never designed to be touch-input compatible. If HTML5 is as good as my cursory experiences have been with it, then I concur with the claims that Flash's days are numbered.

I pretty much only do things on coolness and I have no idea what other reason there is to do anything.

Great story!

Were you late on a car payment or something??
:p

Read my sig, I have the lot, and I love it all.

I use the ipad when out and about, iphone when the ipad would be in danger and the MBP whenever I am stationary long enough for it to boot.

When I want to go to BMWs website and drool over the M3 via video I want to drool over that ****** M3 via video not the "please install flash player" message. :D :D I love my iPad but when I am sitting on the couch and my family is using their laptops and I'm trying to see a flash video it's kind of embarrassing that I have to ask to use one of their when my $500 toy should do it out of the box.

just like me. i wanted it
so bad and after i got my iPhone 4. it's sitting in the dust. i guess it's not
portable enough to bring it outside because i don't carry a bag.

It's the opposite for me, I used to have my Macbook out with me everyday, but now it's the iPad.

Fashionable screen resolution whining...

No offense to the OP, but I have to admit that it's getting really old to read post after post complaining about the screen resolution of the iPad compared to the iPhone 4. Especially when most of these folks have a MacBook Pro, and here's why.

The 13" Pro has a resolution of 1280x800 at 13.3" and the iPad has 1024x768 at 9.7 inches. Without troubling myself to work out the exact math, aren't the two devices PPI in the same ballpark, if not better on the iPad?

I have an iP4 and an iPad, as well as a 17" older iMac at 1440x900, and I would never choose to use my iPhone for anything screen related if my iPad was near, and only use the phone out of necessity while on the go without the iPad.

All the whining about how you just "can't stand using the iPad after using the iPhone 4 screen" while you will happily use your MacBook just makes no sense whatsoever to me, and I don't think I'm alone.

for the macbook yes, but not with my 1900x1200 mbp 17".

My Macbook is sitting collecting dust. I use my iMac and my iPad. I use my iPhone 4 for whatever in between. Honestly could not care less about flash. Just spent $150 on a new bag and what not to make my iPad and all its accouterments easier to carry around.

Funny you should mention your 17" MacBook Pro...

The PPI is identical to the iPad, at 132 pixels per inch. That 17" Pro must be driving you nuts-- soon they'll have Photoshop on the iPhone 4 "retina" display and all will be right in the universe! :)

Also, while we're at it, the 13" Pro has 113 pixels per inch.

Thanks Wikipedia!
