Since my JB on 3g phone using 3.0 firmware I have noticed worst battery life. All I have installed from Cydia besides Cydia is tricker3g (and of course mobilesubstrate)

Anybody else seen a change in battery performance?

Edit: I didn't install winterboard, sbs settings, battery meter or any of the other fluff. I turn off and on wifi and bluetooth as needed. Of course this is the first time I am using my bluetooth headphones. I hope I don't have to give them up.

Thanks

Yeah my battery life seems to be crap as well. I have iPhone 2g unlocked and jailbroken. Have cydia and icy installed. I have a battery % running, and have installed couple of apps. And my battery performance is really crappy. I just lost 6% of my battery life just typing this post.

Damn I was hoping it was just an anomaly with my phone

I was about to post this as well.
I just jailbroke my 3G.

I installed

- SBsettings
- Mobile substrate
- Voipover3g
- Bitesms

and the battery is definitely way worse. It's decreasing at a rate of 1% every 2-3 minutes!!!

I really hope the developers work hard to improve battery life :(

I was actually loving how much better my battery life was with 3.0..

Hummmm... I'm not seeing any increase.

Yup, my battery life is ***** as well. I'm not 100% sure that it is OS 3.0 or jailbreaking thats causing it.

Think I'm going to do a full restore as I'm beginning to realise that there is nothing available via JB that I will actually use.

Well, I'm on 2.2.1 JB and battery life isn't too bad.

Maybe Apple made 3.0 give 3Gs really bad battery life so they can say "Look, new iPhone has better battery than the old 3G!!" :p

Yeh ive notice a decrease in battery life after the jb,

I only really wanted to jb so i could unlock the phone for another network but that seems to be a no go right now

whatever happend to just entering a code to unlock a mobile phone like we use to with our nokia's ;)

My battery life stinks as well. I was at the beach today, started playing Star Defender for half an hour or so, another 30 minutes a little bit later, and I went from 80% to 53%. Thats real bad, and I hope a fix comes out soon, otherwise Im going back to the original 3.0. The only reason why I JB'd was because of the winterboard options, pretty much.

Last night I could watch it go down, losing a percent every minute but after an overnight charge its back to normal (if not better) with 4 hours of standby and 1 hour of usage and im at 99 percent, although when im running cydia it just kills it, but thats it.

You can't have one whole hour of usage, no matter what you do, and only loose one %. You battery meter is not refreshing properly. It will go back to loosing 1% or so per every minute of ussage.

Is the battery not as good after jailbreaking and then installing some apps for some of you?? What if the iphone 3G was just jailbroken just to be unlocked without installing any apps to mess around with? Anyone have any problems with battery doing that?? Father is leaving for the Philippines with his 3G and I don't want to do it for him and leave him with a messed up phone hehe...Thanks so much for any future replies.

Sling / VoIPover3G / jailbreak 3.0 / WTF

I use to be able to watch TV ANYWHERE !!!!!

I cannot get SlingPlayer to work on 3.0 ...It worked incredibly on 2.2 with a jailbreak scenario. Now...when I run the app ... it just keeps giving me the
"can only run on WiFi networks"

...anyone have comment about this....help

this morning my meter was stuck at 100%.
after 10 minutes using Navigon GPS and 1 hour of ipod playing music and a few updates with cydia, I realised somehting must be wrong, so I restarted the iphone and.. boom.. it was down to 73%.

Not applicable to the thread topic - I would seach the forum and then start a seperate thread if not discussed before

Yep, mine is crap. Charged it fully this morning, not used it once and looking now it's about 50%? I hope they get this sorted!
Do you think this is only affecting JB phones?

I'm the same, I've only got a battery % thing running and my iPhone died from full charge in roughly four and a half hours. Ouch! I'm restoring back to apples firmware when I get home.

Mmmm - I was already to JB tonight (16gb 3G, OS 3.0) but now I'm not so sure.

I find the battery life in 3.0 (not JB) to be fine, but if it gets much worse with the JB I'm not sure I want to.

Is this something the redsn0w people will be able to rectify?

I'm conflicted now

It was def the % battery thingy that was doing my battery in. Removed it went back to stock then rejailbroke. Now its back to normal.

The battery % on a 3g really drains it for some reason.

Are others here of the same opinion? I can live without the % battery indicator - I want Backgrounder and video recording. And to be able to unlock at some time in the future.

BTW - do I need to be JB in order to unlock?
