Spend all day reading the naysayers posts about how the iPad sucks and will fail. That will get you through. You may not even want one when it is released. :)

you will rarely use 3G, by the time you're ready to use it more, 4G is out.

Buddy, I'm still on EDGE here. The nearest 3G to me is about 30 miles away and I'm on an Interstate pathway. I still use EDGE a lot and AT&T has announced they're going to light up 3G this year for the rest of us here who are still waiting. 4G will be a LONG time coming here. I'm sure I'll be using 3G for at least a couple more years.

I think I can pretty much guarantee that we won't see LTE on Verizon here for at least a couple of years as well. It took us a couple of years to get EVDO after the major metro areas got it.

Guys for what we will be using the iPad for, 3G is plenty fast enough, expecially since it supports the 7.2Megabit version of 3G. The backbone network is slower than this.

Maybe this will help you keep your morale up.
I was going to get just the WIFI but it is starting to make more sense to wait for the 3g version. The 30 day wait will get the early production and supply issues resolved and who knows maybe OS 4.0 will ship with it-it's possible. Also I have come around to the idea even if you are going to be a WIFI user the minimum ATT data contract makes sense because it is my understanding you also get free unlimited access to all the ATT WIFI hotspots around the country. That's better than Boingo and you have the 3g as a backup when needed.
Plus you get GPS which is a nice added feature with the 3g model.

I'm just throwing this out there as a thought. A lot of people say they will wait for the 2nd gen iPad but in a way the 3g version is different enough to be considered as the 2nd gen since it comes after the WIFI model and offers new features. The WIFI model is really not much different than a large iPod Touch and it is not until the 3g version do you get significant new features. I'm thinking the 3g version is worth the investment and will get you a higher resale value so I say the best value is probably the 16GB 3G.
Just saying....

nonsense. you buy what you need/want, not for resale/investment/value. tech changes and depreciate too fast. The more you spend, the more you will lose.

when 4G, USB3, webcam coming out, your 3G 64G loses big time.

Get the wifi with the mifi.

Bit the bullet and did that last night. Love the little mifi device.

Now just need someone to make a iPad case with a little mifi slot.

? Nothing in what you say relates to what I posted so the nonsense is yours but just what I would expect from FoxNews
I was saying there is value in getting the 3g and I recommended the 16GB as having the best resale value when you want the next version next year that will probably start at 32GB.

is that why the iphone 2g is still selling for 300-400bucks? its really all about jbing. the early 3g's are worth a lot due to bootloader 5.08 and the early 3gs due to the 24kpwn (which i both have)

I'm in Aus, and have ordered one to ship to a friend and then to us. We'll have a WiFi 64GB model for my mum soon  then dad and I will probably get 64GB 3Gs.

So we get to play with one before it gets there. I'm hoping it'll get here April 7th.

Actually no I said it right, I wasn't calling it a 3GS I was saying 3Gs as in 3G's.
Otherwise I would have said "then dad and I are going to get a 64GB 3G each".

Guys, help me!!!! It's getting rough! With 10 days to go to WiFiPad, I need to stick to 3G iPad. I have a trip on the 10th of April which sucks!!!!! I need to stay strong for the 3G iPad. I hope I can do it!

One of my friends is already teasing me about how she knows I won't be able to resist buying the iPad on Launch Day at the end of this month and then won't be able to resist again when the 3G version is available. "I know you," she laughs, "you'll have BOTH of them!"

considering a wifi model is 500-700, so 600 on average, if you really love sports, you can go and officiate in some tournaments. 600 is about 3 days worth of games if you go a whole day, so about 2 or 3 weekends. Why not go work a few games, have a great time, get paid to do it and turn around with that money and buy a 32gig wifi iPad at launch?

And then, end of april, pick up the 64gig 3g ipad with the money you saved up for it already...

or, go to best buy, buy the ipad at launch, bring it back 30 days later and pay the restocking fee, therefore, "renting" it for $60 or so...

Thanks Connie! I needed that. I can make it, I can make it. I'm repeating that mantra in my head.

I can't. I'm getting it launch day, even though I wanted 3G. I figure it will replace my Kindle and so if there is no WiFi I can always "Read." And where I travel if there is no WiFi there is generally no 3G service either.

There is NO WAY I can can hold out for the 3G version -- No Way at ALL!

Still waiting...

For those waiting for the 3G model, I know how you feel. I was disappointed when Apple announced they wouldn't launch at the same time.

Im still going to the launch of the Wifi vers. just so that I can play with it for a bit.
I also was a bit bummed out when I saw that the 3G vers. didnt have the nice flush back like the Wifi model. That plastic strip is a bit unsightly IMO but I understand why they did it.
