3G support group - surviving the extra 30 days

It wouldn't be such a big deal, if I didn't see myself wanting to the use the GPS at times. I just don't want to be left out on GPS type apps. I know WiFi has location services, but as the day gets closer, it's getting harder and harder to wait for the 3G, but I hope so.

Damn, I really don't know what to do.

You know, it's like how some people get fully loaded stuff and never use it, but if they use it once, they will be happy they got it. That's kinda how I feel about the iPad. I can see myself using the 3G and GPS a bunch, not all the time, but a few times, but will I miss it if I don't have it?

I have iPhone 3Gs and plan to get new iPhone as well, lmao.

The more and more we get closer to April 3rd, the more and more I'm talking myself into getting WiFi iPad. As someone said, I will have books and content when not online. Also, in a pinch I have MyWi on my 3GS. I'm not really going to use the GPS except like once probably to play around with it. DAMN! How am I talking myself out of the 3G iPad? I'm so psychotic.

Aer Lingus flights are cheap anyway!

If you have MyWi, wouldn't that serve the same purpose? Couldn't you then just create a network using your iPhone, on the same data plan?

Does MyWi work well? If it does, it's the perfect solution -- isn't it? Or does the phone need to be jailbroken too?

I have thought a good deal about this issue and honestly I think I'd need 3G on the iPad maybe once a week, for about ten minutes. No data plan on earth makes that level of usage worthwhile. And that's without factoring in the multipurpose nature of the iPad, where I could read books, newspapers, etc., without 3G access.
 
Well I've succumbed. I couldn't do it. Numerous factors came into play. 64GB WiFi iPad it is. LMFAO! I think it's the right choice for me.
 
This wait is killing me. At first it didn't matter too much but now I read that folks are getting charged already for their 3G iPads (I haven't) so now I'm getting more anxious. I'm hoping it'll ship early but I feel like a kid waiting for Christmas. I have a big business trip in May where I'll be traveling all around and I plan on taking just my iPad. :D

I have a trip around April 10th, and I couldn't wait any longer. LOL!

WiFi iPad and MiFi will give you a much more flexible setup (as previously stated) and if you want to push the cost down further..

how about buying a wifi cell phone, using that as a wifi router and then you have cheap MiFi

A mifi costs $1500 for 2 years. Too expensive. Stick to finding free wifi or paying for 3g when you absolutely need access.

I had a feeling you were going to change your mind especially
seeing all your other posts. I for one reserved the 64gb wi-fi and once the wi-fi + 3g comes to the store I will get that also.

Hahaha, Alicia, you are the best!!!! It's clear how psychotic I am when it comes to this thing. Mostly everyone knew I wasn't going to make to the 3G. I am now questioning maybe this is fate and i really don't need the 3G. :-D Oh well, it has been done LOL! :) 64GB WiFi here I come.
 
I'm going to wait for the 3g but perhaps it will not be such a long wait. I hear that people who ordered one are getting their cards pre-authorized now which might indicate a sooner delivery date than expected.
I don't have an iPhone but I do have a iPod Touch. Getting 3g will be a nice added feature set and worth it to me. Location based Apps , GPS, freedom from being chained to a Starbucks or McDonalds for WIFI plus ability to find my Pad if it is lost (and lets face it since it is not pocketable it is going to be an easy target) with cell tracking security software available all make the 3g the one I want.

We will revisit this opinion once the 3G finally does ship :D
