Mines perfect. As is my experience with all apple products. I have never needed to switch anything and they all just work;)

I've come to the conclusion that there are too many Apple employees on this site now. I asked in another post for someone with a perfect screen to take 2 minutes and take a picture of a solid black image on their 'perfect' iPad in the dark. There were no takers.

I'm on my 4th one too, and it has backlight leaking as did the others. I don't know what or if I'll try again. My issue is mainly when watching Netflix or similar that it's distracting.

To the OP I say take it back if it bothers you too much.

Dude, no one cares about your 'problem'. No one (myself included) needs to prove anything to you. Take it back and get a JooJoo. Then cry on the JooJoo forums.

Or take it back, get nothing, spend time outside, and go get laid.

Sorry, the compel was all too strong. :D

Ahh yes, the typical teenager reply. I figured it would get someone uptight.

Asking someone who responds that they have a perfect screen to bad screen posts, to be kind enough to take a quick pic and upload it for comparison isn't asking too much.

I would be glad to do that for someone. And no you don't have to prove anything, your reply says enough about you.

Exactly. Nobody is an Apple employee, we just aren't going to waste our time to fufill your paranoid delusional fantasies.

You should just give up on e iPad. Is there perhaps another company that offers something equivalent that you would like?

Mine seems perfect, but I'm sure if I scrutinized it long enough I could probably find something wrong with it. In the meantime I'm just gonna enjoy it.

Yep it says that I am frustrated working with younger generation people that think they are owed something. People that want top dollar on the job, but lack basic skills. How hard is it to goto the apple store, best buy, or view a friends iPad ??? Yet because I don' t harass the wife for the digital camera and post a picture, my iPad MUST be imperfect, making me and everyone else liars. I am not an Apple employee, but it sounds like you need the services of one. Use one.

No problems with mine. Back in the day I sent back 3 third gen iPods before I got one that had no problems. I guess sometimes that's the way it goes.

Open the iPad in the store before you leave...

I have a VERY VERY tiny back light bleed on one side of my iPad. In the 10-20 LCD monitors I have owned I have never seen a "perfect" display. They all have some kind of bleeding. So you are expecting unrealistic expectations about a perfect display.

Amen brother... I don't notice any bleeding on my pad, but I am not trying to find it either. I just enjoy it.

Hmmm...I thought my iPad was perfect until I started reading these forums!
Now--like all the other technochondriacs--I'm looking for dust, checking for backlight bleeding, and using a magnifying glass to inspect each and every pixel. ;)

Seriously, though, I do notice some backlight bleeding but I also have the same thing on my Samsung monitor. I just assumed that most LCD screens have the issue, and it's not really all that big a deal. It is only noticeable when the screen is black--99% of the time, I don't even see it. Few things in life are perfect, and apple products are no exception. Even with the minor flaws, the iPad is great. (And no, I am not a secret undercover apple employee...)

I know the OP's pain. I went through three iPads before I finally just accepted it.

The first two had such bad backlight bleeding, it was visible at 50% brightness on a normal (i.e. not entirely black) screen. That, combined with three or four stuck pixels, and it was grating on my nerves every time I used it.

The third had less severe backlight bleeding, but nine stuck pixels.

The fourth has three stuck pixels and one area of problematic backlight bleeding, but I have since taught myself to accept the flaws.

I believe there are very, very few "perfect" iPads out there. Out of the four that I've owned, three of my friends, and my dad's, I haven't found one that is entirely free of problems. That's 8, which is a pretty good sample size, considering that they're all from different manufacturing batches and purchased at all different times.

Just enjoy your new toy with the understanding that many, many people are in the same boat.

I am starting to wonder if I am too relaxed about my 'perfect' iPads. I cannot see any dust, the colours/light do not seem to bleed and no stuck pixels on either of them. I have had a good look, but nothing.

Should I take them back anyway?

2 pads in the house - all perfect---BUT....

I have not examined them with with calipers, a micrometer or an electron microscope...I'll have to get started.......

ok, so i see threads like this from time to time ("on my 5th MBP, screen sucks"; "4th iphone with uneven backlighting").

what are the chances of this happening? every apple product I have owned has been flawless. sure, there is may be one bad fish in the batch....now multiply that times 4 and we have your situation.

so there are only 2 explanations:

1) you have some major bad luck
2) you are one of those ridiculously picky snobs, for whom it would take a happening of astronomical proportions to satisfy.

1) Huge spec of dust under the screen
2) Horrid, horrid backlight bleeding
3) Yellow screen on bottom 1/2
4) Bad backlight bleeding and dead pixel

Should I just ****ing give up, or do "perfect" iPads actually exist? I'm sick of going back to the Apple store. They oftentimes give me a referb which obviously isn't going to be a good iPad...

I got a perfect one. A first gen 64Gb 3G Ipad....and I got the unlimited 3G! Sometimes it is good to be first.

No issues with mine.

I also got a 32gb Iphone 4...and it has no issues. I guess I am lucky.

First of all which model of Ipads are these?
I have seen 3 perfect Ipads....mine, my sisters and and her husbands!

There are more perfect Ipads than there are duds.

We all have 64 Gb ipads...wifi for my sister and wifi\3G for myself and my bro inlaw.

Actually it is. If we're happy with our screens why would we bother going to try and find a problem with it?

Trust me. Under close, close examination, I can almost guarantee that you don't have three perfect iPads... It's that you don't know how to look.

I found a piece of dust under the screen when I was putting on my screen protector that I didn't notice before because it is on the black portion and my case covers it. Is this going to cause any problems in the future? I keep reading about everyone trading in their ipads for dust under the glass but i don't want to risk getting something worse if it is just this minor thing that took me a week to notice.

Not asking you to find a problem. Just a pic of anyone's screen that is perfect. No one is forced to prove anything, just thought this was a Mac Forum where people try and help. The fact that some take the time to make sarcastic comments, but don't seem to be able to post an image is telling in itself.

Trust me, you don't understand led backlighted screens. Then again, sometimes ignorance is bliss.
(Those that claim perfect screens)

Turn down the brightness.

My screen, wifi, and 3G data plan are perfect. (Wifi only iPad.)
