I don't get this thread. From what I could tell when I've traveled to the UK on several occasions, that's just how pricing works. A $1 item in the US is generally not £0.62 in the UK. A coke in the UK cost, say £1.25. I get that same Coke in the US for $1.25 (£0.77).
A direct comparison: When I was doing a show in the UK a couple of years ago, I had to order some lamps. The lamp cost £14.50 (now $23.44, then almost $30). That same lamp in the US runs around $15.
So yeah, it's not just Apple that prices things like this.
