Damn shame they didn’t offer 128 as the bottom tier. It’s actually ridiculous until you understand their motive.

Which is **** customers even though what they charge for the price difference is astronomical. Then again. They’ve always **** on their customers this way. $100 or more for twice the storage? Yeah.

It’s really no different from carriers charging exorbitant prices for texts in the past. Now they **** you with data.

Not one company in this game doesn’t want to **** you in the ***.

This is how corporate America works. And most people don’t care. Which is fine.

4k video is going to chew through that. Maybe if you didn't do that and live photos, you may be fine. Or if you don't plan to use apps. It all depends what you use your phone for. It could be enough, look at your current phone, is it 64GB? Maybe it will work.
people keep preaching this, but why save huge 4k clips on ur phone? transfer them to ur pc/external hdd or icloud. seems like a obnoxious way to utilize ur storage even if u had the 256gb. 4k video at 60 will chew thru anything. or record at a sensible resolution. like 1080p...

All the 4K TVs don't help and 4K displays. Imagine what it will be like when 8K TVs and displays come out and the iPhone is going to support double the resolution. What will storage space be like then? 512GB?

64gb feels like cheaping-out on the most expensive iPhone ever made.

Why would anyone do that? It's like buying a 1.5 liter engine Ferrari.
u talk like its gonna be crippled cuz its lower storage...it the same thing otherwise...

Yeah, if you think about Google phones like the Nexus, those come with 16 GB of space. It's all in the cloud.

no phone even has a 4k display.

I know right? Yet it's got the ability to record 4k video? It's got to be the TV and monitors that are causing this.

Is 64 gb enough?

I've been enjoying my VZ 256GiB iP8 for a few weeks now, and it has entirely met my expectations.

Switched from a VZ 64GiB iP6 (owned for 2+ years (which I gave to my Girl (who uses ATT, and was able to successfully activate/use (in its entirety))))...

Where I usually had (roughly) 8-10GiB of free-space on the 6, I now have over 200GiB available:

I have always been generally indiscriminate about my usage of Messages, photos and videos, but it does feel comfy knowing that the Ceiling has been raised :)

If I remove my locally stored music, that would bring me to 51/256gb. Problem is I’m often in and out of reception in remote areas and locally stored music is nice. Plus, with all the fancy AR apps and games coming out file sizes are gonna get bigger. I’ll play it safe with a 256.

You take lots of video no

4k at 60fps, even at 30 FPS that takes a lot of storage.

Yep... videos are huge. Just a few minutes of video occupies over a gigabyte of space! (1,000MB+)

But that only becomes a problem if you intend to keep lots of these files on your phone forever.

Do people not offload their giant video files to a computer or something? I don't believe the phone is supposed to be permanent storage for every video clip they've ever taken.

I think it's great that there are larger and larger phones. But it's just a band-aid solution.

What are people supposed to do with all those videos? Long-term, I mean.

Look... you can probably keep a couple hours of footage on even a 64GB iPhone.

But should you? :p

I’m using 23gb now and I regularly download my pictures and videos to my computer to keep them, and reupload what I want to carry around.. so yes 64gb plenty for me I think even though I don’t like going down from the 128 I have now

Ohh , opps i forgot to include how much i use my phone.

I dont take pictures too much, And dont record videos oftenly. I also dont download lots of games.

But doesnt it take 4gb to download ios updates or whatever? Doesnt it add up? I also have spotify.
Sounds like it would be enough for you.

iOS updates need some space, but only temporarily and usually much less than 4 GB. Once the update is installed the space that was being used to download/unpack it is freed up.

Ok, folks. Let’s face it. 64 GB is a slap in the face, especially considering what the next tier costs. Greedy. Ridiculous. Nonsensical. And everyone will pay for it.

I went to a family reunion with my iPhone 8 Plus 64GB and I don't keep much else on it, but I took video and pictures half the day and I never ran out of space. I think the issue is do you feel you need to carry them around with you rather than store them on the cloud. Now, personally I LOATH Apple's iCloud and I actually have a Google G-Suite account with unlimited space. So, I use Google/Drive Photos Then if I am even remotely running low of space click save space and the Google Photo app will upload and delete on the fly. Apple's iCloud in comparison sucks! Again it all hedges on the need to carry them around with you. I always have access to them and can show them at will, I just don't find it necessary to keep them stored on the phone.

Hey... at least we're not talking about 16GB anymore...

I thought those forum threads would never stop! :p

Go to your settings and tell us how much available space you have on your current phone and what storage size it is and then we can tell you the answer.

Cheaping out? Why waste money on the 256gb when I don’t need it? I have 50gb of iCloud storage also. I’ve only used 10gb on my iPhone. I don’t need 256gb.
I have a 64GB S8 and it has an SD Card slot but I haven't even used 32GB of storage and don't need the SD card slot.
