This is how corporate America works. And most people don’t care. Which is fine.
You are failing to grasp basic concepts of economics and capitalism. Corporations aren't your friend and they aren't charities. They charge the price that the market will bear with a goal of maximizing profits. Apple prices their phones the way they do because people are willing to pay their prices. Apple hardly has a monopoly on smartphones, there are many out there that you could buy instead of an iPhone. But as long as people are willing to pay these prices, Apple will charge these prices and even as we are seeing with the iPX, raise their prices.

Apple isn't trying to **** you in the ass. They are simply behaving like corporations need to behave in order to maximize profits. You can always buy an Android if you don't like how Apple's products are priced.

If you are angry about the price, don't buy it. But I think what is really going on is that there are people who can't afford the iPX and they are angry that Apple has made a model that is out of their price range.

4k video is going to chew through that. Maybe if you didn't do that and live photos, you may be fine. Or if you don't plan to use apps. It all depends what you use your phone for. It could be enough, look at your current phone, is it 64GB? Maybe it will work.

Remember HEVC and HEIF though. Live images and videos will take up 1/2 the space as before.

Been using 6s 64gb for two years and I’ve only used 25gb. My iCloud data is 141gb of 200gb. So, the X 64gb is enough for my needs.

I really think i can make do with 64 easily coming from 128 7+

Ive only ever had 64gb devices recently barring that

SE and 12.9 pro gen 2 are 64 and just fine

My ipad needs are so friggin minimal tho

But 64 is pretty all encompassing I would think just gotta run a little leaner

It would be fine for me. I'm always surprised at how many people need so much storage.

To me, my phone is not a storage device. Everything I really need is in the cloud.

Right now I have 128GB iPhone, I am only using 60GB (29GB of that is photos) and I am going to get 64GB, just because 256GB is just too much, I wouldn't mind paying a bit more for 128GB version but since they decided not to offer it, I'll have to do with 64GB.

I agree. Too many times I see those who are barely making it for storage with what they have, and Ultimately regretting that they did not purchase the higher tier model just to save the money, when it will inconvenience them when they need it most.

lol
no it's not.
that's a horrible analogy
;)

I agree. It's more like buying a Ferrari with a 5 gallon fuel tank. You have the power of 500 hp+ (e.g. recording with 60 fps at 4k) but you'll run out of fuel (64 GB capacity) within 60 miles. For me, I wouldn't be able to fully enjoy the thrilling ride in a Ferrari because I'd always have to worry about running out of gas. But this is just my personal (probably a bit compulsive) opinion. :p

You could rent a fuel truck, which would follow you everywhere you go AND refuel you without needing to stop your brand new Ferrari (iCloud).

Is 64 gb enough?

If you somehow manage to insert the 256gb microSD card inside SIM card slot then yes. But you won’t be able to use it as a phone.

Ohh , opps i forgot to include how much i use my phone.

I dont take pictures too much, And dont record videos oftenly. I also dont download lots of games.

But doesnt it take 4gb to download ios updates or whatever? Doesnt it add up? I also have spotify.

Then I suggest don’t buy any smartphone. Buy the flip phone you will look smart with these phones.

Currently using 10gb of 16gb on my 6 after 3 years usage. iOS is just under 5gb of that. I'm really thinking 256gb is complete overkill for me.
Haha I wish Apple also made 16gb storage on X for ppl like you who don’t use storage much.

Really just depends on your usage.

Look at your current phone’s usage and you’ll quickly know what works for you.

Ferrari fuel would be likened to a phone's battery.
sorry, but again, a bad analogy.

i don't really think there's a proper analogy to be made between a Ferrari and a phone's storage capacity.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

On another note I am dismayed at the lack of quality flip phones. Wound up buying a cheap $50 one for my mother and father. Low res, etc,, just crappy.

I checked my 64GB phone and still have 40GB free. I stream my music, don't use games, and my photos/videos are backed up to Google Photos which has unlimited storage, and the original files are synced to my computer then erased from my phone.

This morning I accidentally preordered the 64 X instead of the 256 which was my intention. I immediately started panicking. This is the end of the world! I can’t live on 64GB! I need to cancel my order and take the day off of work and wait in a line to get my precious storage!

Then I remembered that my 6S that I got last year was the first iPhone I had that was over 64GB and I survived just fine before that.

Reading this thread was a nice reminder that I don’t need 256, especially with Cloud storage.

I’m currently using 79 of 128 and if I put my photos in the Cloud it would free up 25GB. Deleting large attachments in my messages frees up another 13GB. That would put me at roughly 41GB. These are things I should be doing anyway.

I feel better about my “mistake” an hour later.

Yes its plenty. As long as you don't record a ton of 4k video, you should be fine. I only got the 128gb last year because there was no 64gb option.

I used to have the 128 iPhone 7 but I too opted for the 64 gig X, with Apple Music, iCloud Photo Library and 50 gigs of iCloud storage and Dropbox, I have plenty of room left on the new phone. 49.02gigs to be exact, although the 50gig iCloud storage is getting full, so I'm gearing up to dump all my photos onto an external hard drive. It's important to check the Optimize iPhone Storage (Settings-Photos-Optimize iPhone Storage) on the phone. Are you happy with 64gigs? I think it's the way to go if you have other hard drives to keep old photos/videos and a music library from before Apple Music. I think most people just keep buying more gigs on their phones because they don't spend any time managing what's stored on the phone or just want everything they have on the go, which I certainly don't need.

Is 64 gb enough?

Yes! In combo with 50 gigs of iCloud storage, iCloud photo library, Apple Music and dropbox.

I had a 256 7plus before getting my 64gig 8plus and now 64 X. It was nice to have the 256 but I never even got close to 60. Just looked at my X and have 32gb free, keep all photos on google photos and just about 12 gigs of music locally, which is only there incase I need it, which is doubtful.

I upgraded from a 5s 16gb model that was always getting full, I bought the iphone X 256gb model so that I never get caught out with a lack of storage space and I have not regretted it. I've used up about 30gigs already in just over a month.

One thing I would say is that the 4k video recording uses up huge amounts of storage so if you are the kind that takes a lot of videos then prepare for 64gb's to get full very quickly! If I had bought the 64gb model, I would have used almost 50% of the storage in a just a month of ownership. 256gb is the way to go in my opinion.
