I started using my X two weeks ago. As always, I did not import the iCloud backup from my 6 and set it up as a new phone. By now, I am using about 20gb.
I used my 6 128gb since 2014, much stuff piled up in three years (mostly photos and downloaded playlists from music streaming services) and by the end I was using about 80gb. Since I plan to keep the X for at least the same amount of time as my 6 (I upgrade only when there is a complete redesign), I went for the 256gb version. With better cameras and higher resolution online content, I expect it to be more future proof.

It is enough for me

Nope. Won't even hold just the OS + my iMessage cache.

I’m sorry but that sounds silly.

iOS takes a few Gb, so are you claiming you have around 50Gb iMessage cache?

Is 64 gb enough?

A lot of people will tell you “no” especially on a tech forum.

64Gb is plenty if you don’t plan to download a lot of movies or songs to keep them offline. HEVC makes photos and videos smaller and if you plan on using iCloud Photo library, it’s fine.

For most users, I think 64Gb is ok. If you can afford more, sure, why not, but for apps and streaming + cloud, it’s quite fine.

Sure, if you take regular back up.
How is that going to help?

Do you mean "Sure, if you regularly spend time removing stuff off your phone in the hope that you will not need it again when you are away form home"?

If you can afford 256gb then get it, if not then suffer the problems of 64gb.

I have 256gb and i currently have 54gb used. That means I do not have to worry about anything for a few more months. If I want to show a work colleague a video I did in September then I know it's still on my phone.

The convenience and piece of mind was worth the extra.

It all depends on your usage.

64gb is enough for me because I don't take that many pictures, and even I did I have 1TB of one drive space so I can always have automatic camera upload.

Music and Movies are through streaming services like Spotify and Hulu.

So you have to evaluate your usage to see if 64gb is enough for you.

Want to watch Blade Runner 2049 in Dolby Vision on your iPhone X? That downland is 22GB. Pacific Rim? 17GB.

I concur that in most cases 64GB is plenty for a phone in most cases, but with an entry fee of $999, I would go all in at 256GB for $150 more. As mentioned before, 4k video recording will also eat up space.

Yes by "sure" I mean : if you are able to sort through your data and decide what is important to keep on the phone for instant use and what you store for later use. It never going to end if you want to have all your data on you for instant use at any moment. Online backup / the cloud is the solution for this.

64gb was plenty on my 6S so I went with 64 on my X. I don’t use the phone to watch movies or to mess around on the internet unless I’m not home. If i’m home or traveling, my iPad is my preferred device to view movies, internet or games. I really do wish they would of offered a 128gb version because that is the sweet spot for storage. The Cloud has really made storage less of an issue.

I found that I was using around 30 of 64GB on my iPhone 8; therefore upgrading to the 64GB X makes sense to me.

For me 64gb is more then enough. For the wife not so much. She does a lot of video and pictures. Its not that bad though. Probably just need to backup and wipe her pictures one extra time this year.

I was making it with 16 gig on my iphone se. I pay for the extra storage with icloud. I looked yesterday and I have only used 10 gigs. I will just make due. What do you all do that fills up your storage? I don't download movies. I usually delete my imessages after a while anyway.

There’s no need to get 256 gigs. Watching 4K movies on a phone? Why would I want to do such thing? There are TVs for that or at least computers.

I will not need more than 64 gb

For me it would be enough. I currently have a jet black iPhone 7 Plus with 128GB. At this time, with everything I want on it, I am using 36GB. Sixty-four gigs would be plenty for me personally.

Depends on your usage. For me it wouldn’t be anywhere near enough. My 6, 6S and 7 Plus were all 128GB and I only had about 7 GB left at any time. This time I went for the 256GB.

However for you 64GB may enough.

Depends on your usage. I don’t really use my phone much for offline content consumption, and I’m connected most of the times. 64GB is more than enough for me.

I only store photos locally on my X (although I back up images from time to time via Google Photos). I stream music and TV shows/movies, so I’m only using a total of 25GB of 64GB.

If you are doing the upgrade program, go for the 64GB. If after a year, you realize it wasn't enough, get more next time. If you are buying it, I would spend the extra bit and get 4x the storage. It's already an incredibly expensive phone, and wishing you had more storage after some time would be a way more expensive mistake than the extra $100 or so, to go max.

My 7 before the recently acquired X was 128GB, and I never got close to using all of it. I think at the most I was somewhere around 50% capacity, and I had all sorts of apps I never used on there.

I've never really been a hoarder when it comes to my devices (or anything else for that matter), as I like to keep them lean in terms of apps that I actually have use for. Never had any music or movies on my phones either. Photos and videos take up most of my currently used ~35GB's, so I'm quite comfortable myself with the 64GB offering. If in the future things get too tight space wise, there's always optimize storage for iCloud Photo Library.

Before I got the X, I had a 64GB 6s Plus. I was down to 5GB of free space, so a 64GB X was not even up for consideration. I take a lot of photos and have a good part of my CD collection on my phone (I don't use any streaming services), so there's no such thing as too much space. I also plan on keeping this phone for at least 2 years, so I'll definitely make use of the available storage.
