Just because you have been having good results doesn't mean you're giving good advice. You are indeed doing a disservice to anyone with a lithium based battery.

I've been using, and testing, various lithium chemistry batteries since they have come out many years ago. From R/C hobby vehicles to home built bikes and cars. Yes I have some I run down to "empty" and then rapid charge that have seen 500+ cycles while retaining ~90% capacity. They are the exception.

BEST PRACTICES FOR LITHIUM BATTTERIES
Try to keep them between 20-80%
Feel free to top up during the day to 80%
Don't leave in a hot car
Rapid charging is no problem and will not degrade your battery if it's approved by the manufacturer. They are well under spec of battery manufacturer. IE your iPad pro has a 10 amp battery and a 29 watt charger will charge at roughly 6 amps not accounting for losses. This is pretty low where most other uses we call slow charging a rate of 1C meaning 1 X Capacity. So I would charge my other 10 amp batteries at a rate of 10 amps.

Hopefully this clears up some misconceptions as people just parrot bad advice these days.

Because it takes so long to charge the iPad Pro (at least with the standard 12W charger) I do that normally over night. I don’t think that I am willing to set the alarm clock to 4 am just to disconnect the charger. So this 80% goal for the maximum charge seems a little unrealistic....(besides I have no problem with my lithium batteries durability so far...)

Reactions: Newtons Apple
I can only offer advice based on my own experiences. To do any other would be the very definition of parroting.

You obviously have more experience with batteries than I do, but this forum is here for people to share their personal experiences, and that’s just what I did. :)

What a nice civil reply. I nod my head at you! Nicely done.

I too am a battery geek. I’ve found after several iPhones that even if I baby my iPhone and do the 20-80 within my abilities, my wife with the same iPhone, will drain her iPhone to zero and not do anything to care for her battery - we both end with similar capacity even though she will have 100-200 more cycles.

I think Apple does a good job with battery management. Within a 2 year use cycle it’s not going to matter unless you’re gaming every day or something like that. 5 years? Yeah, 20-80 will show better life but it’s very inconvenient. And RC plane lo-ion and poly batteries get a lot of abuse. So they really benefit from 20-80. Tesla recommends it too. It’s easier to do 20-80 when the software supports it. But I always upgrade my iPhone after 2 years.

TIP FOR ALL APPLE USERS: ALWAYS let your battery DRAIN COMPLETELY before charging it if you want to maintain battery life, don't just charge it when it starts to get low, if you can let it drain completely and then plug it in and charge it to full without unplugging it.

The worst advice I've ever seen lol. Complete opposite of what you should do, unless you were being sarcastic

That is truly the complete opposite. In fact I treat 20% as Zero I never fall below. And totally ruin the chemistry inside the Lithium cells.
