Can you try this, put back the stock kext and modify this file to read "true" for your board id.

/System/Library/Frameworks/IOBluetooth.framework/Versions/A/Resources/SystemParameters.plist

You can find your board-id by using option 2 in the CAT tool, mine for example is
94245B3640C91C81

then run this command and restart (replace with your board-id)

sudo -E perl -pi -e "s/\Mac-00BE6ED71E35EB86/\Mac-yourboard-id/" /System/Library/Extensions/IO80211Family.kext/Contents/PlugIns/AirPortBrcm4360.kext/Contents/MacOS/AirPortBrcm4360

This basically tells Mac your board-id is compatible with continuity. If you use Mojave and later you need to do this step with CAT anyway.
Sorry, I haven't been ignoring you, This 2011 MacBook pro is having such issues booting up, every time is hit or miss. I finally have it booting again to prove your command works without issue. Yes, reinstalling the stock 10.13.6 kext verifying handoff has stopped working then applying the command
Code:
sudo -E perl -pi -e "s/\Mac-00BE6ED71E35EB86/\Mac-94245A3940C91C80/" /System/Library/Extensions/IO80211Family.kext/Contents/PlugIns/AirPortBrcm4360.kext/Contents/MacOS/AirPortBrcm4360
re-enabled Handoff and continuity. Thanks for the command BTW, when I get ahold of another non-2012 MBP I will try it with Mojave to also test that it works. (it most likely will)

I'm confused, is this needed with my cards or is it unrelated?

APPLE disables handoff based on the board ID. So regardless of your card if you want handoff off to work on a 2010/2011 MacBook Pro to work, you have to patch the kext to add back in the board ID.

Oh so that explains why I didnt have to do anything on my 2012 A1278?
Exactly, those models supported handoff stock. This is basically Apple acknowledging that the 2012 cards can be installed in 2011 models. But Apple not wanting them to have handoff. It's the typical move Apple would pull to not allow older Macs have newer features.

Agreed. "Programs" like Continuity Activation Tool allow owners/users of 2010/11 MBP's who have installed a capable BT card to bypass Apple's seemingly arbitrary "blacklisting" of the machines. I have been using CAT for years. For me, the only benefits of THIS new card would be faster speeds, and possibly gaining apple watch activation, because my current "updated" card from several years ago does not support "ac".

I'll be assembling the new cards starting tomorrow; I may only do 5 at a time since it's pretty intensive compared to assembling V1 cards.

Thanks for confirming that works. So with these cards I guess we don't need the activation tool.

23 of the cards are 80% assembled. Hopefully tomorrow they can be finished.

I have them listed for sale now again and they will ship within three business days as I finish assembling and testing them.

I just placed my order, while I was originally hoping for a lower price than the fictional Ucard, yours sounds like you put a lot of work into it and it is made here in the US! How could I not support you? I have a 2012 MBP and I’m excited!

I just ordered one as well. Yes it's not a cheap upgrade but he put a great effort in development of those boards.

Thank you to everyone who ordered in the past 24 hours. Cards are being tested and will be dropped off at the post office tomorrow. :)

All right, I am in and confirmed as well. Hopefully mine can get in the batch to get shipped. Thanks!
NOTE: please add Suite 711 to my shipping address. For some reason that did not stick when I entered it. Thanks

Thank you. I had to manually add in handwriting Suite 711 to the printed label since I don't check this thread for shipping changes (public information).

Sorry, it would not let me change it on the order. Anyway, looking forward to getting and installing it into an early 2011 MBP 15".

Was our store contact form broken? I hope it wasn't. Thank you again!

All orders have been shipped and dropped off. I also finished assembling, testing, and pre-packaging the remaining cards.

My card arrived today (thank you Troop) and I just finished installing it. Here are my thoughts in hopes that they will benefit someone. Having previously installed the updated CAX card, and then replaced that when it failed at a later date, and having installed a SSD and done other things, popping the case was not a problem. Standard precautions - power down, and disconnect the battery. Used the old fixit video as a reminder, and walked through the removal. When I went to install this new card, I was disappointed that it would NOT fit the old bracket (early 2011 15" MBP), and I wound up essentially having to use a combo of 2 sided tape, and VERY small pieces of duct tape, to secure it in place. Got it all put back together and fired it up. Then I had a total holy @#$% moment when my computer failed to boot, said it could not find MacOS (High Sierra), and told me to restart. I broke out into a cold sweat, but hit restart and hit my knees. Thankfully, it did eventually boot up into my home screen. However, I got several error messages about my date and time being wrong (b/c battery had been disconnected?), and mail server certificates not being recognized. However, I was excited to see that in preferences under general I for the first time ever had the option to allow my watch to unlock my MBP, so I set that up. Anyway, logged into my networks, and am typing this on my MBP. So, I will keep an eye on things the next couple of days, and report back. The only thing that does not seem to be working right now is handoff/continuity between my MBP and my other devices. If it does not come back up by tomorrow I will go back into CAT and verify that it is working. Might be something to do with the messed up boot. Might just have to sign out of iCloud and sign back in but that is always a beating. Anyway, it is in.

Glad it's working! The included small bracket piece is meant only for 13" owners so they don't have to cut their original AirPort bracket which is described in the installation documentation on the website, which also mentions using tape only on the top of the card.
