I just received my card today and installed it a few minutes ago. Install was easy and Wi-Fi speeds are definitely better. However I have zero Bluetooth. The icon has a squiggly line through it and when I click on it it just says "Bluetooth: Unavailable". I deleted the com.apple.bluetooth.plist file and rebooted but still nothing. Any ideas?

It's a MacBookPro9,1 that had the 4-antennas on the original card. I am on Catalina 10.15.2

What version of macOS do you have, and which model and year MBP?

Just edited my post. MacBook Pro 9.1 on Catalina 10.15.2

So, a mid 2012 15" MBP? Usually if Bluetooth has a 'squiggly line', it means the solder joint was compromised since only 4 pins are needed for Bluetooth to work. Let's hope it's just a software issue though that maybe @highvoltage12v can help with.

How hard was it to push the connector on? It can be a fragile connector if not aligned correctly.

Hey all! I received the card today. Installed fine, and it seems to be recognizing AC wifi but I'm having some issues. I have a Late 2011 17" MBP (MacBookPro8,3) running High Sierra (10.13.6)

  • Wifi speeds hardly improved - I have a gigabit fiber connection using a Google Wifi and seeing wifi speeds around 150-250 Mbps
  • Handoff/Continuity/Instant Hotspot/Watch Unlock not working
    • The "Allow Handoff.." option is present and checked in sys prefs
    • The "Allow your Apple Watch to Unlock..." is present but stalls and can't complete when enabled
    • After disabling SIP, I manually set continuity to true in
      Code:
      /System/Library/Frameworks/IOBluetooth.framework/Versions/A/Resources/SystemParameters.plist
      • View attachment 886561
      • I then whitelisted the board ID using highvoltage12v's commands above
      • This is what CAT diagnostics read:
      • After restarting, still no luck with enabling these features. I can't run the CAT tool because it claims continuity is already enabled.
        • Code:
OS X reports Continuity as active.
          No changes were applied.
Am I missing something? Thanks!
If you CAT previously installed, uninstall it.

I shut it down just now and re-seated the connection and on reboot BT is back. Thanks for the quick replies!

Someone said on another thread you have to sign out of iCloud and sign back in. Try it.

That worked! Thanks. All features seem to be working now. Can't seem to troubleshoot the slow wifi speeds. I'm guessing not being on Mojave or Catalina might be a factor, but not sure.

Glad it was resolved! The amount of info in this thread is very valuable for any new people that have purchased the cards. :)

The Google WiFi router tops out at 867 Mbps while the Apple router can do 1300 Mbps max. Based on your screenshot of an RSSI of -62dBm, that would indicate the slower speeds perhaps.

Hi. I have the following specs: MBP 15" mid-2012, High Sierra, 2.6Ghz i7, 8GB RAM, 1TB non-SSD (although i just ordered a new SSD and 2x 8Gb stick of RAM). I've found my internet browsing has become more and more sluggish over the years. While I don't have the cash right now to purchase a new machine, I'd like to perform some reasonable upgrades.

1. Is this card compatible with my machine?
2. Will I see a performance change?
3. I have changed hardrives and RAM in the past, is this a more difficult procedure?

Thanks.

Hello! Yes, it is compatible with your MBP, and provided you have a decent internet provider and speed package, you should see noticeable speed increases as long as you have a modern wireless router, especially one that has 3x3 MIMO with beam forming such as the Apple AirPort Extreme.

The procedure is not terribly difficult and requires no soldering or cutting of any metal, I think you will find the photos posted in this thread as well as our installation instructions easy to follow :)

Hope this helps! :)

That's a big relief. Always worried how the packages fare in transit..

Well this is a bit of a bummer. Seems my BT issues have not been fully resolved. I've been noticing throughout the day that BT will randomly become unavailable greyed out icon) for a few seconds and then come back. When it's on it works fine but then it'll just drop even if the laptop is stationary on a desk.

That doesn't sound good :( maybe too much stress was placed onto the connector. You can contact us on the website if you would like to arrange for a replacement :)

That´s clearly a faulty connection/device. If you try the old one is it good? If so, the failure it´s in the new module.

@troop231 I LOVE this module.

Having similar issue. I mean it works for some time after reboot, then randomly stops - sometimes when the laptop is idle, sometimes after it wakes up from sleep... Do I need to reseat cables or something?

Enter in the Debug menu and restore bluetooth

Hi- I just wanted to pass along my positive experience for my 2012 MBP 13-inch-
The card arrived with super-fast shipping, and installation was easy. The problems I had were on the Bootcamp side- I had never upgraded from Windows 7, so I figured this was as good a time as any. AC wifi was recognized immediately in W10, but the bluetooth would not show up in the device manager. I found out I needed to upgrade from Bootcamp 5.1 to 6.1, which required some fiddling around to delete a registry entry. As soon as 6.1 installed, bluetooth 4.2 popped up in the device manager, and I'm sitting here with a big smile on my face- Thank you!!!
