Don't want to over-complicate a thread but I've been reading and came across a similar issue a while back when I put a 2011 card in a 2008 MacBook Pro. I had real issues with the patches for unsupported macs, because I wasn't paying attention to what they were installing, it is sometimes too easy to click go and get a result! As @highvoltage12v said, make sure to choose appropriate patches for your hardware, as the patcher detects your system id, not the hardware that is actually installed. For me, to undo whatever needed undoing to get a newer card working, required a clean install.

Great post; thank you! I also recommend the macOS combo updates as well.

We just placed an expedited order for an Apple Watch to try and help people troubleshoot.

Update: we were able to replicate the Watch Unlock issue (borrowed a friends watch to test) and were able to resolve it by using the instructions at this post in addition to restarting the mac and signing in and out of iCloud: It took a few tries, but seems the issue is watchOS 7 related.

I had 2 different hard drives. One has a fresh install of High Sierra. I tried all the suggestions and it did not work.

The second drive is had Catalina (that was installed over High Sierra using DosDude1's patcher), followed all the suggestions and it did not work.

2010 MacBook Pro.

same here I gotten no sucess with watch unlock but wifi and bt is working fine.
Appears to be an Apple issue. Our new test series 6 watch came today and was able to enable Auto Unlock with the Mac, but on the password screen it says 'Unlocking with Apple Watch' and then just brings up the password field.

My friend ended up flaking out on his card. It's for the 13" model. I currently have it listed up on eBay, but the eBay fees drive the price up.

I can deal with someone on here directly if they wish to avoid the eBay charges or if @troop231 wants it back I can do that as well.

Just trying to recoup what I spent on the second card. The one in my 15" MBP has been working great and have been able to unlock with Apple Watch.

What did you have to do to get unlocking to work? Is Handoff working good as well?

I feel really bad for people struggling because of Apple.

It was a quick test on a brand new install of Catalina 10.15.7 (habit of mine when installing new hardware).

I will try to get a hold of another watch to keep playing with it as I don't have one myself.

It´s an Apple Issue. In Catalina the Unlock password works, not the unlock screen. In Mojave, the unlock screen does work. Also works in High Sierra.

Thanks friend for the reply :) Really appreciated!

I don't understand Apple's software QA (or lack thereof) nowadays at all.

This card works much better than the original one. Faster of course, and bluetooth is also much more efficient. I had so many problems with the bluetooth of the old one, now it works without any problem.

Yes, I’m so happy with two of them in my two Macbook Pro 17 2011. Almost a year with them and they are rock solid. Never a single problem.

I recently purchased the 802.11ac card for my 2011 13" MacBook Pro and the machine is working even better than before (faster network speed, no more external hanging dongles out of the USB ports...)

I am extremely satisfied... kudos for a fantastic product! The instructions on the website were clear and I found the installation process pretty straightforward too (with the right tools.) Happy to say I didn't have any issues getting up and running, connected, and working.

Keeping the older, good quality Apple products up and running is worth it IMHO, so thank you, and keep doing what you're doing! o7

Hi folks, received my 802.11ac card for my 2012 15" MBP and thank you @troop231 for the super fast shipping, am excited to get it installed!

I purchased a larger SSD and am planning on start with a fresh Catalina install, and am curious if I should install Catalina on the new SSD with the original AirPort/BT module left in place (edit) then swap in the new 802.11ac card (/edit), or is it safe to perform a fresh Catalina install with the 802.11ac card already in place - any advice on which route is recommended?

Just install Catalina with the original card in first, then do the upgrade afterwards. We did that today on a friend's machine. :)
