Squuiid did you have to run the Continuity Activation Tool? Also, its interesting that your BT card says "Connectable: No" in System Profiler. Mine says yes and Continuity still doesn't work. WiFi and regular BT stuff work just fine, as does Airdrop. It's just Continuity that's MIA.
I'm afraid I haven't tested continuity. It is a 5,1 but I don't use that machine much. I'll test it tomorrow and let you know.
My main Mac Pro is using one of the older AC/BT4.0 cards which does work fine.
I see what you mean about Connectable: No
This one says Yes.

Wish I knew what the issue is with El Capitan. If I boot into Yosemite handoff works. If I boot into El Capitan it doesn't. Is the Continuity Activation Tool required to get it working on El Cap? I did not need to run it for Yosemite.
I ran into a similar situation with my 2010 5,1 machine. I purchased the kit from MacVidCards, installed it, and worked perfectly fine with no need for CAT until I upgraded to El Capitan. After that, it would not work. I tried a fresh install, login/out of iCloud, etc...all the stuff that normally might make it work. Nothing...it would not work. I spent many hours trying.

I then decided to give CAT a try and sure enough, that got it working. It seems one of the many parts that makes this stuff work is somehow different with El Cap versus previous OS X. Not sure which part, but something. My best guess was something to do with the whitelist feature in some of the drivers, and the specific card that I received from the upgrade kit. I have wondered if a new kit with newer card would be any better, but don't feel like spending another $100+ to find out.

I will give CAT a try. It works by modifying the black and white lists in the driver. It looks like Apple went out of its way to disable 5,1 - disappointing. This means, SIP has to be disabled.
CAT is working great on my Mid 2011 Air, which has the right hardware but is normally also left disabled by Apple.

Well what makes me question it is my 2013 rMBP has worked with handoff consistently no matter what OS I run (all releases of Yosemite and all releases of El Cap). "It just works." haha

And then we have people like Squuiid above who apparently has no problems with the card in El Capitan, presumably in the same Mac (not sure if it's truly a 5,1 or a 4,1->5,1 like mine).

I have checked my card and it says Contactable Yes.

I did the card swap and it worked great in Yosemite. Also supports the new BTLE peripherals.
El Cap created problems. It worked partially at first, the latest release and follow on beta killed it altogether.

Running CAT seems to have restored the function!

The latest beta removed the patch, but Continuity appears to continue to work. Somehow, the CAT application kicked it on.

I installed a module bought from eBay seller below:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-Genuine...LE-Upgrade-Kit-Mac-Pro-4-1-5-1-/252317542350?

I have Mac Pro 5,1 and El Capitan 10.11.4 (latest) along with iPhone 6s (9.3.1) and iPad Pro 9.7 (9.3.1).

Handoff/Continuity/Airdrop are not working between Mac Pro and 2 devices. 2 devices work with each other very well.

I even tried CAT, I downloaded and just clicked 'Continuity Activation Tool' and pressed 1 Activate Continuity (I already did SIP).

I rebooted, still not working.

Funny thing is when I installed Yosemite on a separate partition, they worked beautifully.

Can anyone tell me what's going on?

*********UPDATE*********** After rebooting from CAT installation and signing out/back into iCloud Apple ID, Handoff/Continuity are working, but not Airdrop.

I remember there was one time where Airdrop worked when I overwritten Yosemite's cloudrd file onto the folder. I will try that and update it here.

*********UPDATE2********** Ok, so overwriting cloudpaird onto Coresuervices folder enabled Airdrop too. I didn't have to reboot.

So my solution is fixed:

Handoff/Continuity (After doing SIP)
1) After installing the BT/Wifi module, with 10.11.4, install CAT
2) log out iCloud Apple ID
3) reboot
4) log back into iCloud Apple ID
5) reboot
6) voila, you don't need your iOS devices to log out/in. It worked without them.

Airdrop (After doing SIP)
1) Get cloudpaird file from Yosemite under System/Library/CoreServices
2) overwrite cloudpaird to El Capitan's System/Library/CoreServices folder
3) voila, no need to reboot.

I will stick onto my HO/CON/AIR until 10.11.5. But I really hope Apple sticks their butt up and try to work these out without any issues anymore.

Also, I think version 2 that the seller is selling on eBay right now is not a reliable one. I also had some issues my mouse disconnecting intermittently. It happens on and off.

I had Airdrop working and that was about it. I have ran the CAT, logged out of iCloud, rebooted, enabled SIP and logged back in and everything is working between my cMP and my iPhone and from that I would have to assume it will all be good on my iPad as well.

I just tested my iPad and now all three devices cMP, iPhone 6s and iPad Mini have Continuity working perfectly. I never used the Yosemite Cloudpaird file.

The Yosemite Cloudpaird will not work with the next El Cap update.

The Yosemite Cloudpaird will not work with the next El Cap update.

After turning off and on my Mac Pro, Handoff/Cont. works still but Airdrop doesn't work again.

I deleted and moved Cloudpaird from Yosemite again but it's not working.

***UPDATE*** It works again for some reason. I rebooted. I hate this. I wish next El Capitan update just fixes everything up.

CAT = Continuity Activation Tool

SIP = System Integrity Protection

Thanks so much. So are these solutions using CAT and SIP a scenario where you permanently turn off SIP so that CAT can do its thing. Or do you just turn off SIP to run CAT and once it's working, you turn SIP back on?

I don't know what others have done but after I ran CAT I switched SIP back on and my continuity is working perfectly on all my devices.

Confirmed working on release OS X 10.11.5 (15F34). AirPlay is still iffy at times. But overall, Continuity between apps works. I use it frequently, so this is good.

As a reminder, I kickstarted it with CAT during the 10.11.5 beta, which then was removed after all worked.

Why did this work? I dunno - and I am fairly technical on these things.

This might be of interest. Due to another compatibility issue on my system (Rogue Amoeba's Instant On HAL plugin is not loading) I decided to try a Combo Update, since my system had gone through multiple beta updates.

This BROKE HANDOFF and AirDrop! Rebooting, signing out of iCloud etc. did not fix this.

I turned off SIP and used the CAT tool. It indicated that OS X had Continuity, but did something else. I have to admit, I have not traced out the BASH scripts. I did this twice, since it reloaded after the ensuing reboot.

On the third boot, Continuity was back! KEXTs were not patched, so I was able to turn SIP back on.

Interesting... something it does kickstarts the process.

so my 4,1->5,1 Mac Pro has started getting squirrelly with Bluetooth and WiFi. After a few days uptime, sleeping each night, all my bluetooth devices will disconnect, as will wifi. Going into the Network prefpane, clicking the "Turn Wifi On" button does nothing (the menu item sometimes stays looking like it's connected with full signal, but the menu shows it's not connected to anything).

Using the Reset Bluetooth command under the bluetooth menu debug options doesn't solve it (I recorded it when the keyboard worked, and now have it as an Automator workflow).

Rebooting once, brings bluetooth back, but Wifi shows as "no hardware installed". Rebooting a second time brings everything back to normal.

I'm using this version of the Wifi/BT module on 10.10.5:

Card Type: AirPort Extreme (0x14E4, 0x111)
Firmware Version: Broadcom BCM43xx 1.0 (7.15.166.24.3)

Any thoughts? I was wondering if a PRAM battery might be to blame... or if it's some sort of buffer / log overflow thing.

Might want to try a full SMC and PRAM reset.
[doublepost=1466639206][/doublepost]Latest 10.11.6 beta and Sierra are both working for handoff.
