I just flashed my evga card with the rom using nvflash. Everything seems to work fine. Thanks so much Altimeter88 for uploading the rom.

nice!

could you post the md5 sum of the working rom? And plz let us know about your upcoming testing. :)

so where can I get the power cable? is it the same as the one for the early 2008 MP?

I think using the origial nvidia flashing tool should be the best way. Who knows maybe the Nibitor did not save the full rom. It is also good to use the same program to save and restore the rom. (to restore you cannot use Nibitor)

OK finally got nvflash to work, the file size is the same as the previously posted file. FYI I used the latest version (5.63) to get the following file.

I'd also like to see an export from NVFLASH.EXE under DOS. Something looks a little strange with this ROM.

For instance:

NVIDIA Firmware Update Utility (Version 5.57)

Board ID I know should look weird, but Device ID, I've never heard of 0602. 8800 should be 0611 as far as I know. And "Device Name", G92-300. I think it should be G92-270 for the 8800 GT. Device ID scares me the most though.

A quick fc /b (file compare) shows this file to be exactly the same as the one you posted previously. Cool, as long as it's working for people, thank you very much!

Can someone post a screenshot of their Graphics/Display settings under Apple System Profiler running this ROM? Thanks.

MD5s are the same for files taken from both programs.

Excellent Thank you for posting this rom you are the hero of allot of people here.

I just flashed my card and everything is working fine. Had to do it from dos and used the following options for nvflash: nvflash --index=1 -4 -5 -6 nameofrom

You need to use nvflash 5.53 iirc or higher for it to recognize the 8800.

i have two video cards so i have to use the index command to specify which one, you might not have to use that if you dont.

also the video card i flashed is an eVGA 512-P3-N802-AR.

big ups to Altimeter88 for taking the time to help us out.

Awesome that is the exact card I have. You working in bootcamp as well?

Thanks for the ROM!

Just flashed my EVGA 8800GT Superclocked and its working fine. I don't use bootcamp, so I can't report that side of things, but it's working fine in OSX 10.5.2.

Yes, this ID change is "normal" according to the rom content ... now I just can't figure out why Apple/NVidia decided they needed to change it ...

This probably also explains why the card only works in bootcamp with the latest beta driver.

Can someone check your flashed 8800GT's core, shader, and memory settings under OS X and Windows?

For some reasons, 8800GT efi 32 rom reports weird core, shader, and memory clock speed compared to 8800GT efi 64 rom under NiBiTor

NiBiTor shows efi32 rom's clock speed as -- for core, shader, and memory under Extra, and 24420 for core, 600 for shader, and 100 for memory under 2D, and 100 for core, 0 for shader, and 0 for memory under 3D.

Hm the question is why NiBiTor shows wrong setttings...

1. a programming error in NiBiTor
2. a currupt firmware extraction
3. the Apple EFI32 is a quick and dirty solution

I tested the EFI32 und EFI64 rom with NiBiTor 4.0.
The EFI64 rom is supported and shows the right settings.
The EFI32 rom is not supported, the program shows a warinng about that.

So the program was tuned to read the EFI64 rom, the EFI32 rom is probably just to new.

ROM - Compatible with 9800gtx

Hi all, what about flashing a 9800gtx with this rom.

Are there any reasons why this should not work?

Same chip
Same memory

The gtx is only an overclocked 8800gts.

Bumble-bee

If you flash a 8800gt rom on a 9800gtx you would get a 8800gt...
But the 9800gtx is not exact the same hardware as the 8800gt so you would get a broken 8800gt. ;)

Thanks for the ROM!!!!

Just wanted to report complete success using this ROM on a eVGA 8800GTS (G92) KO edition card in both OSX and Vista 64bit using the latest Forceware 174.93 drivers. As soon as NiBiToR recognized this ROM properly I'll be able to clock it back to its original specs. :D

Viper69,

You can use RivaTuner for reclocking under Windows for now. Obviously it is not a solution under OS X.

Do you know NiBiTor can access EFI? I assume that NiBiTor BIOS overclocking will only work for Windows anyways.

I figure we are stuck with reference 600 core speed in OS X until Apple allows community access to EFI.
