That would be nice, but, meanwhile, our local store has only two 11.6" MBAs:
1.4GHz with 2G RAM and 64G storage
1.4GHz with 2G RAM and 128G storage

They are telling buyers who want 1.6GHz model and/or 4G of RAM to order online.

This was all they had at my Apple Store in Fort Worth, TX when I checked on Saturday. I went out to Best Buy and they had the 1.4GHz 2GB RAM 128GB model out on the floor already for $1199. They didn't have the 64GB models, though. Apparently for the 1.6GHz 4GB RAM 128GB model you have to go to the Apple Store online and custom order if you want the max spec.

Stores in the DC area have started to get a few of the 11" and 13" MBAs in stock with 4GB RAM and/or Maxed SSD/CPU. You just have to call around and make them check for the one you want.

Thanks to this thread!

I just returned my 11" 1.4 2gig for an 11" 1.6 4gig..

Picked it up directly from the Fashion Island store in Newport Beach. The store employees are calling it the 'Ultimate'.

The Mac Stores in Washington/Oregon are going to be stocking the 4gb models as well. So if you're closer to one of them, they'll have them eventually, I guess.

They won't be stocking the upgraded CPU models, but the buffed RAM models will be on hand soon.

Got my 4 gb at Apple Store

I picked up a 2.13 ghz 4 gb 256 gb 13" model last night at the Apple Store at Baybrook in Friendswood, TX. Then I went home and cancelled the one I had ordered and hadn't shipped yet.

It is sweet and feels as fast as my 2.53 ghz MBP.

Lovin' it so far.

Just purchased the 11.6 / 1.6 / 4 / 128 at the Northpark Center store in Dallas Texas. I had to gently "encourage" the associate to check their stock. Initially she said they only had the base config.

Thanks for the info. Was about to order BTO and then I saw this thread.

I just walked out of the Apple Store Corte Madera (north bay in San Francisco Bay area) with 11" ultimate configuration.

Call around, different configuration are out there!

In case anyone's wondering, the Apple Store in La Jolla (San Diego, CA) just got in the ultimate configurations of the MacBook Airs today. I'd purchased the 11.6" 128gb base model last Saturday and was absolutely miserable when I called up the Apple store and found out, but they were nice enough to give me an exchange without making me pay the restocking fee :D

All of the stores in Massachusetts keep insisting that 4GB for the 13 inch is only BTO. Yet, the 11.6 is available with 4 GB.

Not exactly...the Holyoke store had a 13" with 4GB but no 11" as of Tuesday...I'm checking again tomorrow.

I got mine in a store

Yesterday I called the Apple Store at Perimeter mall and was surprised that they had a 11.6/4/128 model available. I drove right there and bought it. When I got to the store the employee manning the MacBook Air station said they didn't have it. I told him to double check with the guys in back and he was shocked to discover that they had one. Lucky me!

Thank you so much for the "heads up". I picked up the 13" Ultimate this morning.

Thx, I did not even know there was an Apple Store in Holyoke. But, Rockinham was much closer.

Are you serious!? I called the perimeter store yesterday around 12 and asked if they had the ultimate 11.6 and they said yes. Fast forward to 6pm, i go in to buy it and they give me their apple bs about it being BTO only and they wont be getting them for a while.

I hate how ****ing dumb the apple store employees can be sometimes. The guy said he talked to the stock guy and they didn't have them in stock. He even said the person on the phone was lying and being dumb by looking on some wall that shows they sell it but not necessarily here.

it seems that every store in my area only has the 11" with 4gb of mem. Every time i've called I get a different story stating that they either don't carry the 4gb models or they have the 11". Stopping by in person I hear "oh we sold out of those this morning" about the 13".

frustrating.. why can't apple just have an inventory system or a consistent message.

Was in the Regent Street Apple Store in London today but the staff were playing dumb. None of them would check their system to see if the Ultimates were in stock.

Any UK FMs hear anything about these? I'm loathe to buy online again after a nightmare with UPS delivering my iMac recently.

Cheers,

jahman

would have perferred to have bought mine in store, but I wanted a loaded 13.3 so ordered online, definitely would be killing me now if I bought a base and knew I couldn't upgrade the ram later.

I called the Belleview, WA store this morning and they claimed to have a "very limited stock" of maxed-out 11.6" Airs. The University Village store said they had none.

ETA: And it was true -- I got one!

Called Lenox Square and Perimeter and both said that the 4GB versions are all BTO and that no stores are getting any in.
