I called the Belleview, WA store this morning and they claimed to have a "very limited stock" of maxed-out 11.6" Airs. The University Village store said they had none.

I was at the bellevue store today and was told the 11" w/ 4gb only had the stock 1.4 w/ 128gb ssd. They had 3 left this afternoon.

Every time I go into an apple store I hear a different answer..

Called Lenox Square and Perimeter and both said that the 4GB versions are all BTO and that no stores are getting any in.

I got the same answer on two separate occasions. So I ordered online. How frustrating. Oh well mine. Will be here monday. Wish I could have it now though

called 4 Boston area stores and 3 out of 4 told me that "ultimates" were BTO only...the 4th store (Chestnut Hill, MA) had the 11.6" Ultimate in stock, got myself one...

I was in the Oklahoma City store on launch day and subsequently called them. Both times I have been told BTO is online only. Dang! Well, I guess I should just go for it and order now.

Well that is a bummer, was about to start checking with them in hopes of getting the GF one for Christmas before she goes back to school. On the other hand... it's a saving grace preventing me from that ever so present impulse buy each time I step foot in Penn Square.

Wow so confused as to who has what. Not many people have gotten the 2.13 w/ 4GB at their stores it seems, but there's only one Apple store in Utah so let's hope! Would really like to walk out of a store with this thing.

I picked up the 'Maxed' version of the 11.6" in the Apple Store in Madison, WI yesterday. Didn't take more then 5 minutes, and even got my EDU discount.

That's strange and frustrating to hear, but since my husband was on the east side he did swing by and grab one for me yesterday. Maybe give another call and see if someone else has a better answer?

It's awfully surprising that this store would stock them rather than the larger U Village (which I tried first), unless the latter was answering incorrectly as well.

I was at the uvillage store earlier in the week and asked about the 4gb configs.. I was told they don't carry the 4gb models and I stated other stores in the area were getting them.. he looked at the computer and was surprised to see a 4gb model listed.. of course they were out of them by then.

That's the key -- get them to look it up in their internal ordering system. When I bought mine a couple of days ago the rep that I met in the store said the same thing. But, when she looked it up in the machine (to prove it to me), it was magically there. So, if you get someone, what I said was: "Sorry to be a pain in the ass, but would you mind if we looked it up in your internal ordering system?" - she had no problem and even noted that she didn't know about them.

The people on the phone don't know either. I called one store 3 times and got different answers. I think more stores have the configs and just don't know it.

My guess is that for the near future quantities of the ultimate configuration will be limited as the show up in stores.

When I called around trying to find one the salesperson at my local apple store was happy to hold it for me, which they did, and I picked up after work.

I don't know if the policy changes from store to store but it couldn't hurt to ask for them to hold it for you.

I hope that helps. No reason to drive across town only to be disappointed

Georgetown in DC had 11.6 4GB 1.6 128hds. It took awhile to convince them on the phone that they might have some and that they should check the system.

And then when I got there they told me they didn't exist in the stores. When I pressed about my call, they said the person i had talked to was mistaken. When they called down to the stock room, the person on the stock room instinctively said no, and I had to repeat the story (and sort of yell it so the person at the other end of the walkie talkie could hear it because the guy on the floor didn't believe me or just didn't want to explain it). Still no. So I said please actually check. And then -- surprise, surprise -- they had some.

At least the check out person was nice and competent.

just picked up an 11" ultimate in Raleigh NC (Crabtree Mall)

they now have prices for the ultimate configs right next to the demo units too so obviously they're officially stocking and advertising them in stores.

Purchased the 11.6"/1.6/4GB/128GB MBA at South Park Mall in Charlotte, NC this afternoon. I think they had just received the shipment today.

As a long time Apple laptop user, I've watched them lose millions & millions of dollars.

How ?

By not offering, or having in stock, or being able to build BTO models in a reasonable time frame. That's what happens when they're so fat & happy.

I bought a fully maxed out 13.3 from the Oakbrook IL store yesterday. They said they had only received 2 of these fully loaded. I'm glad I called around and found this, I would have regretted buying the stock model and not being able to upgrade at a later date.

It's slick!

You would know this because you are the CFO of Apple? You don't think people would order from online or just purchase the ones available at the store? Hyperbole much?

I picked up a 11" mba with 1.6 processor, 4gb ram, and 128gb hard drive at the Michigan Ave Apple store today. The guy said they were nearly out of them.

I checked earlier in the day at the Apple store in Lincoln Park in Chicago and they said they didn't carry the 4gb version in store...

Denver Store Employees Confused

I called the Flatirons store, and they said they had the 4GB/64GB in stock. I run down there only to have them tell me "oops, sorry, only have the 4GB/128GB in stock". Furious, I left. Called other stores in town and was generally met with confusion by the employees as to which model I was talking about. They all ended up telling me I would have to order online.

Got home, found a new one on ebay for $1000.00 with free overnight shipping. Saved about $187.

Purchased a fully maxed out 13" MBA at the 5th avenue store in NYC. When I called on the phone I was told they had received limited supplies of the ultimate configuration. When I got to the store, the girl thought they would be carrying both clock speeds with the 4gb option, but all they had in store at the moment was the maxed out model.

UWS store told me to order online, but I didn't press the issue.

This guy is zippy!
