Finally….🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾…After going down this road of getting OCLP to be stable with two 32” and one 24” display, my Mac Pro 5,1 with MacOS Mountain Lion, Mojave, and Monterey, each one now seems to be solid! This has been a painstaking 20 day venture! The problem was I wanted to run Sonoma and the other OS’s I mentioned but I could not keep multiple displays with Mountain Lion! Tried the following cards, EVGA NVIDIA’s GT G40 2gb and 4gb GPU’s didn’t function well with Sonoma or Ventura no matter what “spoof” I injected with OCLP graphics were slow, glitchy etc. purchased a new XVX Radeon RX 580 and things were good with the exception of losing multiple display’s capability with Mountain Lion. Then I hired @tsialex to do a Boot ROM restructuring and added Enable GOP functionality thinking that would get me multiple display’s in Mountain Lion, but that didn’t work. However, my graphics were great but only one display. But, Alex informed me that would happen unless I got a Mac Edition GPU that would function with Mountain Lion. So I purchased three used NVIDIA GTX 680’s and hired @tsialex to write the correct GPU Bios so I could safely use Nvflash on them and they worked great but I was still trying to use Sonoma and Ventura, things became unstable graphically after a day or so. I ignorantly missed a note that Alex warned me about Apples new AVX ect.. would be an issue with any OS past Monterey!!🫣 He was totally correct! So, I got another new SSD and installed OCLP and Monterey and I’m stable with multiple display’s on all of my systems. Did all this so I can run the newest Avid Pro Tools 2024 for my mastering rig in the studio for a training I’ll be starting soon from my recording studio. I’m a “techie” but computer detailed coding is not my forte! @tsialex is one of the best to do it! I totally appreciate him and all who reached out here on @MacRumors! This is an amazing community of brilliant people!🙏🏾

Per Alex, make sure you periodically keep your VVS storage in check. Especially if you jump around between the OS's.;)

does anybody have amd hardware acceleration for video de- and encoding running on Sonoma or Sequoia with a Vega 64 card?

EDIT: I got it. set spoofing in OCLP options to minimal and model to MP7,1 oder iMacPro1,1.

For me it's not working. OCLP Spoof to minimal and model to 7,1

Not working for me either, I tried MacPro 7,1 and IMacPro 1,1, neither resulted in hardware acceleration being turned on. Did you also check the box for "Allow spoofing native Macs"?

Shout out to Martin Lo. His last available OPLC bundle still works. I haven’t gotten as far as Ventura yet, but Monterey runs without a hitch in my cMP 4,1 -> 5,1.

FWIW, this system has an RX 570 Sapphire Pulse card that I bought used off eBay. It was sold to me as an RX580, but deeper investigation says it’s a 570. I assume it was a crypto miner, because I had to put it in a Windows machine and flash the stock VBIOS. Now its recognized as a Metal capable card by MacOS. I’ve done the Enable GOP flash to the Mac firmware and I have the Apple pre-boot picker displaying.

Getting over 33000 in the Geekbench 6 Metal benchmark.

On the cMP you can't run anything past Monterey without dealing with the lack of AVX/AVX2 support in the processor. This means OpenCore alone is insufficient so Martin's package or the full manual method of configuring OC wont' work beyond Monterey

OCLP makes running beyond Monterey on the cMP possible by patching some of the kexts to replace kexts with version from Monterey that don't require AVX.
I'm running behind here and reading posts that are months old ow.

I didn't get Monterey running on my cMP 4,1-5,1 until very recently, using Martin Lo's system. It's working fine.

But going to Ventura....or anything later....isn't practical?

I'm guessing that's the case, because Martin Lo didn't update his OCLP package.

Why not use OCLP.

You can update.
I tried to go to Sequoia using the latest OCLP.

It works fine on my Macbook Pro 15" 2015. (In fact, I have that laptop dual-booting to either Sequoia or Sonoma with OCLP.)

On the cMP 5,1 different story. I've tried using OCLP to build and install Sequoia and it failed.

I've tried numerous times and it gets to a certain point then errors out.

Since Monterey is running solid with Martin Lo's OCLP, I'm hesitant to move everything over to Ventura or higher, until I can figure out what is going on.
