You may have just leftover Windows ESPs. Those are also critical, when it comes to unprotected UEFI Windows boots.

Such a boot loader can inject certificates, even when there is no Windows installation on same medium. As of a deleted, former Windows installation.

You should check your firmware for certificates, and use the [check ESPs for Microsoft certificates] tool of the Dumper package to scan your Mac for Windows boot loaders (ESPs).

Dumper link is in my signature.
Thanks!
Too bad I don't have macOS installed on my MacPro5,1 anymore. Was planning to move away from that computer since my son is using it mostly and mainly for gaming.

even for a Windows-only Mac Pro you should have a service disk with MacOs. For updating OpenCore, checking boot rom, maintenance...

A spare spinner is enough, just stick it in, when you need it.

I wonder, if there are other users out there with an RX580 in a 5,1 MacPro, on where videotoolbox does not work very well under Sonoma ?
It does work since the last few OCLP updates, which had a bug.
But still it's slow and performance is not so good, it's way better under Windows 10 Bootcamp.

for example using Topaz AI video render, under Windows I get about 50 fps, under MacOS Sonoma about 7-10 fps.

Those are very good numbers for a RX 580 in a 5,1 if you're benchmarking at 1080p or higher. Although I don't know why Windows would perform better?

OK thanks, this was done using SD video material, not with full hd video files.
What kind of performance are you getting with your RX580 if I may ask ?

Perhaps the Windows driver are better than macOS.. ?

Upscaling SD: 7 to 11fps benchmark but realtime speed is sometimes faster. 4K: 1-3fps depending on the original quality. The speed is really dependent on the original video quality. The lower the quality = lower the fps and the higher GPU %. For example: upscaling from 360p low quality to 1080p can spike the GPU to above 95% and drop the fps to .50fps to 2fps. I find it best when working with anything lower than 480p to not try to upscale too high at first. I start with 2x then run it a 2nd time at higher resolution. It's easier on the GPU and I can still multitask because the GPU is not spiking @ 99%. I recommend installing MacsFanControl and iStat Menus to monitor and cool things down. Video AI can kill a GPU if you don't keep it cool.

Topaz has a built-in benchmark app.
As I said, OCLP inject GPU modified kexts for RX´s after Monterey. In Sonoma, I could´t even run Geekbench. Mac Pro 5,1 hangs. In Monterey, here are the results for RX 570.

I don't believe the kexts are the problem. FlorisVN is clocking around the same speed in Topaz benchmarks as most other 5,1's with an RX 580. He or she is clocking around the same speeds as mine in Monterey with MLOC.
Flying along like blue dream in Monterey with my RX 580. :)

Hi all,

Any news about opencore 1.0.2 by Martin?

Thanks
I've been using OCLP for awhile now. The simplicity of the install.

Was thinking about using Martin's script, but I heard he's not doing anything past Monterey. I could be wrong?

What is exactly the gains from Martin's package versus OCLP?
I have the 5,1 as well.

Hi all,
I have installed Sequoia on my MP 5,1 (2010) with OCLP.
As an already known issue, I have the USB1.1 problem, fixed using a Hub on front USB ports.
But I don't have any fonctional Bluetooth :( (I replaced the original module by the famous one BCM943602CDP, perfectly working with Monterey 12.7.4)
Can anybody help me please ?
Thx

On the cMP you can't run anything past Monterey without dealing with the lack of AVX/AVX2 support in the processor. This means OpenCore alone is insufficient so Martin's package or the full manual method of configuring OC wont' work beyond Monterey

OCLP makes running beyond Monterey on the cMP possible by patching some of the kexts to replace kexts with version from Monterey that don't require AVX.

Understood, thanks.

Well for me and my studio Sonoma and Opencore are running flawlessly. Of course I'm only doing audio and not video.

Some are already on Sequoia, and when I get the next chance between sessions I will install Sequoia, but for now Sonoma is screaming.

I've created the beta package some time ago, but lack of feedback from the beta users. So, this is delayed to become official.
I usually download from a link on Facebook
I was late this time, the link doesn't work
but I can confirm that I have my version by cdf method and a slightly modified one using several ideas from your config works fine

Oh, I see. You wanna try this one?
Hey Martin. I have been using a mininimal DIY version based on @cdf's thread and some settings from you specific to my 5,1. As there wasn't any update on @cdf's thread is there anything in the new opencore I should be including or any real benefit to moving past 1.0.0? TIA

TBH, no, mainly OC and kext update. If there is no noticeable bug in your system that's mentioned by the change log, then most likely 1.0.2 is same as 1.0.0 for you.
