I am going to get it, just havnt yet. I have used Affinity Photo on my MBP since Nov 2015 and love it! I started using as a (Senior citizen too) as a beginner to both dslr photography and software editing, it has been very easy to use. The AP staff is very responsive to any questions you might have on the AP foum.

I have to say. I was skeptical about the app, especially for $20 but it truely is a Pro app for the iPad. By saving my RAW files on icloud from my MAC, I have instant access to them on the iPad and the app has really impressed me. Then again, I only do photography as a hobby and not professionally.

Superb App and a bargain price. Get it at this discounted price whilst you can.

Do you have access to the Raw files saved on the Mac using the ipad or are they jpeg? If you have access to Raw photos on the ipad, do you mind telling me the process you use?
I have an ipad pro 9.7" but have not bought the Affinity Photo For ipad yet because I am not sure how to get Raw photos imported into Affinity. I have been using AP on my mbp for so long now I'm sure I can figure out the editing part after I get them (raw photos) actually on my pad

Is this app like Photoshop? It looks pretty good.

It's meant to be a direct Photoshop competitor. Affinity also has Affinity Designer which is a direct competitor to Illlustrator. They're basically going after any designers who are turned off by Adobe's subscription based services.

They make good stuff and they're able to read Adobe file formats too so it really is suitable as Photoshop and Illustrator replacements unless you're working in a team and you rely on Adobe shared libraries and other team based functionality.

I import my photos off of my camera onto the Macbook and then move them into a folder on my iCloud drive where I keep most of my stuff anyway (and a backup copy on an external). Once it is uploaded which doesn't take much time, I have access to the RAW files on my iPad to use with affinity. Once a photo is done, I can export it out back onto the iCloud drive in any folder I choose or onto the iPad etc.

Also to help answer your question. When you open Affinity, it gives you the option to import from iCloud drive and various other sources. So thats how I access the RAW images.

The only reason i don't have photoshop is because of the monthly subscription i prefer to pay for my software outright.

I've been excited about the iPad version for over a year and I am not disappointed! Although they have a few issues to iron out right now.

I do a dance with Adobe every year. When my CC subscription is due for renewal, I cancel unless they give it to me for their introductory price again ($30/month). Usually this results in them refusing to do so and coming back with a "Come Back to Adobe" special offer a month later. In that month, if I need Photoshop or Illustrator, I use my Affinity programs.

Back when they sold owned licenses, I tended to upgrade every other edition or so. A $30/month rate pretty much puts me in line with the budget I've had for Adobe software for the past decade. I'm sticking to that budget, but getting my pricing is a really annoying back and forth ordeal every year. I might just quit entirely regardless of pricing this year. If Affinity can come up with an InDesign replacement, I'm done with Adobe for good.

I don't doubt the value of Adobe products. They are superior to Affinity's in most ways, but if you're not a designer, it's not really worth the subscription price. I do a bit of design for my work, but it's not my focus and so I don't live in Adobe apps all day long. $50/month for programs that get lightly used once or twice a week and heavily used a handful of times a year is ridiculous.

Anyone know how long the discount lasts? Reviews seem good and I only play around so I'm not interested in paying adobe prices.

I will kill to see Designer come to iPad. Then give me a good InDesign replacement and I can move almost my entire workload to the iPad.

Maybe a month? It was demoed at the keynote, and it was just released yesterday. Next week is when the iPad shipments come in, so it's wouldn't be good marketing for them to stop the promotion before the new iPad Pros are delivered.

This lucrative subscription model is probably why Adobe hasn't ported it's full CC programs to iOS.
can't really agree with that...it has to be something else. All they have to do is require an existing subscription, just like cable TV apps.
