how is the 64gb working out? Would 16gb have been adequate?

(not referencing resale value)

wished for 3g?

Is there a Facebook app for iPad? I haven't seen one other than the chat app.

I know that anyone that hasn't touched one or doesn't own one will say anything just to trash talk it. I also know that it's a breakthrough, even if it doesn't have multitasking. With things like the iPad paving the way to the future, Apple truly continues to be the company for the rest of us.

:apple:

I don't use mine as much as I thought, but it is great for showing off photos and for casual web browsing. I didn't think I would be doing anything heavy with it so I bought the wifi-only 16GB model, which is perfectly adequate for my needs; anything else and I wold definitely feel that it was not worth the money for my usage. It will be great for those occasional trips out of town too. I occasionally use it for reading in short spurts, but for anything lengthy I much prefer my Kindle2; for this reason I have never bought anything in the iBookstore and don't expect that I ever will. I think the iPad is great if you have the right expectations, and is perfect for what I need it for. Just don't expect it to do things it was never meant to do.

I've had the 3G since friday. Since then, I've only used the PC to sink the ipad and stream hulu to my PS3 with playon.

To the OP: Glad you're impressed with the iPad. I don't have one yet, so I can't comment on how I find it, but I'm glad it has worked out well for you.

Had to mention one other thing: It's a portrait or landscape keyboard. Not a horizontal keyboard. It's always horizontal. I know everyone seems to be calling it the horizontal and vertical keyboard at the moment (on this forum at least), but it's just bad English. Sorry, pet peeve rant over. :D

lol, same for photography buffs :D

Well after 1 month of owning an iPad I've had to recharge my MBP because it's drained before I remember to shutdown (using the iPad more). Set up streaming from my Mini to the iPad to watch movies. Check email, RSS, Twitter, you name it. And have now swapped out from a WiFi iPad to a 3G iPad. It's a handy device and looking forward to traveling lighter with it.

What i know after a month of use:

7. Not having any mouse or cursor support makes real word processing useless for me.
8. Typing sucks for me. I type 70 words a minute with a keyboard and probably around 20 words a minute with the iPad.

Fixed that hyperbole for you. You're welcome.

I know, after having it for a month, it's already become a part of my regular day and I'd hate having to do without it.

I've found there are only a few things I need to do with my computers that can't be done on the iPad. For those things I have a desktop. My laptop hasn't been used since April 3rd.

I've even found myself moving from the desktop monitors to the iPad if I come across a long article online that I want to read.

64 is what I needed for my iTunes videos. So I am happy with my choice.

I've yet to take my iPad out of my house, so 3G is of no use to me. If I take it on my next vacation, I might miss it then, but it's an overseas trip and those plans are very expensive.

Point taken, and I thank you for noting this. You are correct.

8. Typing sucks no matter what anyone says. I type 70 words a minute with a keyboard and probably around 20 words a minute with the iPad.

What an attitude! lol

Yes, it sucks no matter what anyone else says. It doesn't matter if plenty of other people can type fine with it accurately and quickly... if you can't then nobody else can and they all must be lying. With 100% accuracy I'm 107wpm on a physical keyboard and 56wpm on the iPhone. Are you suggesting I'll type slower on the iPad than the iPhone?

If you can only hit 20wpm, that indicates your own lack of skill and lack of practice, nothing else. If EVERYONE was as slow as that, you may have a point. Fact is, I'm watching friends type much faster than that, easily and accurately, with the iPad. Stick with it, you will get better.

And please remember, the world doesn't revolve around you. You can say things but that doesn't make them true. Just because you can't type well, doesn't mean everyone else is lying.

You're entitled to your opinions, not your own facts.

real word processing is what i meant and i stick by it. Trying to edit a document on an iPad is an effort in futility.

Typing sucks, sorry if it hurts your feelings.

danny_w has it right, as long as you understand clearly what you are getting and with the iPad that really means what you are not getting, then it is a great device. With what it does well the iPad is fantastic.

The only places where it is disappointing is when I found out by experience that some things are not all perfect in the glorious iPad.

1. Don't plan on doing serious word processing, highlighting text, jumping pages, merging content, all just not optimal for this device.
2. Don't be surprised when you are surprised about how many sights actually use Flash
3. Don't hope to use it at your desk as a laptop/netbook by buying a keyboard and mouse.
4. Don't be grossed out by grease on your screen

Be aware of all those things before you make the purchase and you will be happy.

Every morning on the train I place my ipad on my lap and set my iPhone and cup of coffee on it.

It's been perfect, not a single spill.

Got my 3G pad on Friday and I'm loving it. I use it all the time, and have not touched my home computer since. Yes the keyboard can be hard to type on unless you lay it down and lack of flash is a bummer. Its a little heaver than I would like (under 1 pound would be ideal) Also I wish there was a better way to share files, like a universal documents folder and a SD slot with out needing an add on. I cant wait until iPhone OS 4 comes out for it, multitasking (even fast app switching) is going to be a really good improvement.

My Wife was like what do you need an iPad for? and now she's asking to use it to play scrabble.

I'd give it a 85 out of 100.

I love to hear this!! :D

Can't wait until they come to Canada!

People who say its just a big iPod Touch are starting to get on my nerves!

The fact that you seem to think that your personal failures with a new device holds true for all of the million or so people who are using it, doesn't hurt my feelings in the least. Why should the fact that you seem to think that if you can't do something, no one else can, possibly result in injured feelings for me?

Keep in mind that when apple started to really outdo microsoft in the marketplace, I started to see a coordinated attempt to place negative stories about Apple in the press. I think the "iPad is just a big iPod touch" meme was one of those stories that took off. When you have nothing to compete against the iPad, you place ideas in the market designed to reduce demand for the iPad.

For what it's worth, I've yet to hear an iPad owner think it's nothing more than a big iPod touch. We know better. As I said here a month ago (and then later saw it being used in the tech media), the iPad is like an iPhone the way a swimming pool is like a bathtub. They both hold water so that you can immerse your body, but there are many things that you can do in a pool that you just can't do in a tub.
