I have checked out the pad three times now, once with my neighbor's, twice at the Apple store. I really like it, typing seems easy. Want one but I just don't think I really need it as I am trying to cut down quite a bit on web time, never read books on a device, only in a book ( never will, some things are sacred ), never game, have a 13" Mac Book Pro with a ripping SSD and a 3G iPhone.

But, I do photography for a living and think it might be good down the road, especially for selling high end stock photos while traveling which I can already do on my iPhone.

So once and awhile, I check in to see how things are going with people using them. It's tough to gauge though because most of the people on these forums are super gear oriented, not in my line of work / lifestyle in being more active, professional outdoor types.

The thing is super slick and fast though, I would gladly take one if given to me, but I just don't think I really need it as much as want it.

Time will tell…..

I am a professional photographer, and I have integrated the iPad nicely into my sales routine. Nearly all my work is on location, not in a studio, and it is really nice to be able to show a prospective client examples of my work on the iPad. It has been much more effective for sales than the small screen of an iPhone (of which I have tried in the past). Some images just scream to be on a larger format, and while the iPad is still small, it is much larger than my other solution, an Epson P-3000 photo backup/viewer.

I am also eagerly awaiting the Square Credit Card reader to allow me to process payments and generate invoices and sell packages electronically on site, without the need to bring a computer, a mifi hotspot, etc.

I have also been able to easily put the ipad in my camera bag / case. I have plucked out the foam in my Pelican case for a nice, safe storage spot for the iPad, and it fits nicely in my Tamrac photo backpack in the document storage space.... My laptop wouldn't fit in either of these locations.

It is also nice to be able to bring up my website for clients to show them additional work, outside of the requirements of the current shoot.

Ouch, You spent that much on a 512gb ssd and you couldn't pull a 3G iPad?

Of course I could have gotten a 3G, but since I had no use for it I went with what works for me. Do you think we all have identical tech needs?

One other assumption you got wrong: I didn't spend a penny on my MacBook Pro. It was a gift.

But thanks for taking the time to criticize me without understanding the facts first.
