iPad Pro After releasing the new M1 iPads and WWDC Apple is a spineless and gutless company who can take us for a ride whenever they want.

Apple showed their true colours today, the M1 iPad was nothing more than a easy marketing cash grab.

They basically gave their customers the middle finger, never seen anything more lacklustre than iOS/iPadOS 15, all that hype about the M1 and extra ram was never going to benefit us in the end.

Love my apple products, but I won’t be upgrading as often as I have in the past, it’s time apple started earning our money, leave out new features and hardware that can easily be added to new products, you won’t be getting my money from now on.

Everyone true colours eventually come out, apple showed theirs today in a BIG way.

At least Apple build their products to last for years - with support. Today's iPad Pros with the M1 and 8GB - 16GB RAM will be able to run for 5 years flawlessly. And for alot of consumers this is important as the investment is worth it and they aren't looking to upgrade every year.

I think the Pro's exist for creatives/artists and are unmatched even by the Surface Pro's in many ways. As the market leaders, Apple don't really need to do anymore than they are.

I assumed I'd get improved multitasking and greatly reduce reloads even on iPadOS 14 with 16GB RAM (I needed 1TB anyway). That assumption has proven true.

It isn't a matter of defending them.

It's stating an obvious fact that many others also did.

You do NOT purchase something NOW ( or when the new iPads were released ) on the promise of something they MAY do tomorrow. That is literally basic consumer advice.

If one raises their expectation on what WWDC MAY offer, without concrete information, they can't be disappointed because Apple didn't meet the expectations others set. Apple doesn't give an F' nor need to. They do what's best for Apple. Apple does appreciate you being an early buyer of the iPad though.

No actually, they're not. A trillion dollar personal computing company has no excuse not to push the boundaries of pro software. The way we work on our laptops, tablets, and phones are still fundamentally the same as they've been for years. macOS went from 10 to 11 and nothing fundamentally changed (And no, running iOS apps is not a paradigm shift whatsoever).

People will always buy Apple products no matter what they do. Like how they can sell phones without chargers.

If you didn't get what you were looking for, that's what return policies are for. If you bought on release and kept, thinking they were going to do something at WWDC, probably too far of a branch to go out on.

Having said that I’m disappointed in this keynote too, but this 11“ M1 I’m typing on is a good upgrade to my first gen 12.9” IPP and I will not go for the M1 12.9 cause the extra cash isn’t worth it for me. Life goes on, I’m not going to rant and rave about it.

Fact is, the M1 is the lowest entry level, low power SoC, for every device. It also happens to be more powerful than many Intel/AMD CPUs and is suitable as the 2020 iPad Pro processor successor. Why would anyone bother to design a different SoC for an iPad if you have something suitable and just need to put it in there? It only makes sense to use what they already have.

We will see more powerful SoCs in the future, they do need a Mac Pro chip in the end and that will show where the M1 is, at the bottom of the food chain where it belongs, with the least powerful devices and in iPads.

And again, you do not know if if apps won't utilize the RAM in the future. If anything, it might be a nice addition for multitasking which they've shown today.

What apps do you have issues with which could use more RAM? Or is this just a want-to-have-rant without any actual problem existing in the first place?

I can't imagine tying my happiness to the output of a company. Wow. I love Apple. But I don't love Apple THAT MUCH. lol.

That is why I waited for the WWDC before ordering one.

Now I know that the 16 GB RAM version is pointless, so I can save money by going for the 8 GB model.

This iPad will be fast enough for a decade.

I am afraid 90+% of us are the commoners who think the M1 is just better than the invention of sliced bread.

All my apps I use are more than adequate with the measly base memory in my A14 iPad, M1 iMac and M1 Mini.

Compared to the awful Mac Intel designs for the past 15 years with RAM hungry designs (more is better), high latencies, high energy waste (heat), high fan spins (noisy), wasted clock & instruction cycles - it feels good to dump Intel and go to a real computer

Guess, I will never have to worry about spending tens of thousands of dollars on "Pro" Macs at least for the foreseeable future.

Ill upgrade from my M1 in a few years long before it’s consiered obsolete. Happy it’s a future proof iPad, more future proof then it will be in the macs later down the road I’m guessing

I admit that I'm a bit flummoxed with no mention of higher power apps for the M1 IPP. I was truly expecting something to be at least mentioned. Having said that, I have at least a couple more weeks before my order ships and I may well decide to cancel it and stick with my 2018 until something more concrete comes along.

That tablet was so amazing. I even used it for an Ingress meet (tethered to my phone) - an all day event. LOL.
