My god y’all spend way too much of your emotional energy in this company. Tbh I was hoping for a little more as well. Didn’t get it, it kinda sucks. I’m gonna move on with my life. Apple didn’t screw anyone, its not their fault you assumed they would add some unspecified software features to make it better. Good, you shouldn’t upgrade unless you see compelling reasons to.
Apple could have announced that it would be software only if they had any decency. No big deal if they made one small announcement so that Youtubers / customers and leakers could focus elsewhere. That would be the decent thing to do.

I had high hopes for WWDC21 - I'll admit not as high as LFC2020 but still. I have to say it's one of the most lackluster WWDCs for a long time for me. I like widgets on iPad and that's about it.. really.. nothing in WatchOS caught my attention, nothing mentioned for CarPlay (ok maps might improve).. can't think of anything in iOS. Spatial audio on tvOS looks good - but I don't have Apple tv.

I still don't understand why they would tell anyone about the ram in the new iPads - give an option and then not take full advantage. I genuinely (not trying to be provocative) do not know why they have offered a 16gb version?!?

When they were announced I thought to myself "I'd have to get the 16gb version as I'd not want to miss out" but now I'd struggle to justify it.

what made people think that apple was going to do something that only a small amount of people would benefit from?
Most people don't have the pros. We won't see real change Until low end models have m1 chip
Forgive us who thought they might bring a calculator app and weather app to iPad after ten years ,which millions would get use out of daily. But instead they ported over translate…….TRANSLATE!?!?

The point is that people are getting pissed at how apple is choosing to concentrate their energy in a way that doesn’t make a ton of sense.

OMG, i love the passion, but seriously come on… yes this years WWDC feels very incremental when we were ALL hoping for ”giant leap” but come on... it’s not the end of the world, it is still a top in class product from top to bottom. Apple doesn’t make or tell anyone they need to upgrade every year, they do a great job generating hype, they have products to sell. I am a consumer, I understand that, I love having the latest gadgets, I understand that, I pay for that pleasure… I have to say to those complaining and crying product returns, just need to settle down, if you don’t like the produce you are welcome to go else where.

Side note, there are always features and benefits they don’t “announce” during their “shows” - I’m really waiting to see what else comes out.

There, I’m done venting, thanks for sticking around :)

I have the first generation iPad Pro 12.9" and it has held up very nicely (wish I paid for more storage though!).
My 1st gen 12.9” developed the dreaded white spot issue on the display about 2” above the home button. Had that not happened, I would have kept it another year to let mini-LED/M1 mature even though it’s starting to struggle a bit (mostly in Safari).

Very pleased with my new 2021 12.9” and I have no regrets getting the 16GB model. It does what I want it to and I had zero expectations for the event, so I’m actually pleasantly surprised by some of the new stuff coming. The thing that bugs me the most is the lack of 3.5mm audio jack... lol

I think you might have to prepare yourself for teething pains with the Mini-LED display as well. We have no idea if it might also develop issues down the line.

Such a let down, my Apple devices were supposed to merge together and become a quantum computer. How dare Apple not make it so! /s
This next-level over exaggeration towards random events in life is exhausting, utilize that handy breathe app on the watch some. I would say it’s a generational except I’ve witnessed young and old alike doing it.

lol i honestly thought this was a sarcastic topic.

FWIW - Apple isn't making a big deal out of Ram. It's not anywhere on the order page. It's not on their marketing page. IT's not in the footnotes. It's only in the tech specs pages, which honestly, how many customers go to? More than that, it's not even in its own section it's lumped in with other M1 specs.

MacRumors is quite the echo chamber.

I thought only the 10.5inch iPad Pro had that issue. Must've been that whole generation that had some faulty screens then. I traded my 10.5 for the Galaxy Tab S7 plus just because I felt Apple wouldn't even give me any money for it with the white spot. I was tempted to get the M1 iPad and decided to hold off for WWDC. Guess I'll wait before I return back to iPadOS.

not a big deal.

2020 ipad pro costs the same as 2021 ipad pro but 2021 ipad pro has M1 chip and a lot more exra than 2020 one. to consumer, it is totally a big earning, as m1 chip can make 2021 lasts way way way longer than 2020 one.

Apple showed their true colours today, the M1 iPad was nothing more than a easy marketing cash grab.

They basically gave their customers the middle finger, never seen anything more lacklustre than iOS/iPadOS 15, all that hype about the M1 and extra ram was never going to benefit us in the end.

Love my apple products, but I won’t be upgrading as often as I have in the past, it’s time apple started earning our money, leave out new features and hardware that can easily be added to new products, you won’t be getting my money from now on.

Everyone true colours eventually come out, apple showed theirs today in a BIG way.
What happened today was not Apple's fault. They did not do anything wrong. You know why you are mad? You fell victim to the rumors and hype that was created out of thin air. Apple didn't create all of that. You and many others did. You became your own worst enemy with this, and now want to try and place blame on Apple for not meeting made up rumors and expectations.

I am not buying what you are selling here.

We have all said don’t make your buying decisions based on future non-promised software updates. You have to think about what happened in the last year - the pandemic surely affected Apple a lot both in hardware (chip supply) and software (productivity), so we can’t really expect anything special this year.

Don’t agree, apple is to blame, they shouldn’t of mislead people by releasing a iPad with 16gb ram when they dont Even intend on doing anything with all that power.

Cash grab plain and simple.

Apple didn't just start to show their colors today, but if you believe that then it doesn't appear that you have been paying attention to what Apple has been doing. They've been doing that for at least 5-6 years. I understand that "showing their true colors" is a subjective claim and others may think it is even earlier than that.

You say that "it's time apple started to earn our money". That's odd. It implies that they haven't had to earn your money in the past but you gave them money anyways.

If you love your Apple products then what's the problem? I'm having a difficult time understanding what your point is.

You bought the new iPad with expectations you created. You bought the new iPad expecting new features right away instead of buying for what is. You are mad at Apple for failing to keeping a promise to you and the other buyers. The problem with that thinking is a promise was never made. As I said, you and the others created the disappointment and anger not Apple.

So just watched the iPad section, glad i got the 12.9”.
Bigger widgets will be good.
Multitasking looks cool.
The notes changes look good might get a pencil.

Ladies and Germs, I now present to you the customer iPad OS was designed for. Now maybe next time their focus group will consist of more demanding prosumers.

Probs anyone that had a 2018/20 12.9” or 11” that sold it and got this years in the same size has some buyers remorse.
Hence all the blow ups lol.
I went from a 2018 11” 64gb to a M1 12.9” 256gb so was very happy from the day i got it, anything Apple throws at me from now on is a bonus.
