Apple just slap themselve very hard today, isn't it. After years of bashing Microsoft and discrediting Microsoft's Surface line, Apple is finally ready to admit they were wrong all the time. Apple is essentially copying Microsoft.

For years, Apple and its fans discrediting Surface, claiming tablet and mouse does not work together and claming mouse input is necessary for tablet and iPad is meant for touch input. LOL, boys, they were wrong. Apple added mouse support on crappy iOS 13 (yes, I am refusing update to iOS 13 acrossing all my iPhone and iPad, with exception of one by mistake).

Today Apple created Magic keybaord case for the iPad. Apple is essentially creating their own copycat of Microsoft Surface. Boy, Microsoft was right for all the time.

Android has had mouse support for quite some time, likely before the Surface line of tablets even existed. Does that mean that Microsoft copied Android developers (or vice versa as the case may be)? Mouse support is something that is fairly commonplace now and I don't think that just because one company adds mouse support after another means they copied them.

I don't see how they're copying Microsoft.

Apple is essentially creating all in one hybrid devices, like Microsoft Surface Tablet line up. With the rumors that Apple is switching to ARM devices for their Mac line, Apple is going for Microsoft route.

First, Apple is discrediting Stylus, then Apple created Apple Pencil. Second, Apple is discrediting mouse input on touch devices, then Apple added mice input. For years, Apple discrediting Surface line as something half-assed product that is bad for everything. Now Apple is creating the same thing.

Apple fans has claiming iPad is designed for touch input and does not need mouse input. What made Apple changed their mind? The success of Microsoft Surface line made Apple rethink.

I think the iPad is starting an the opposite side of the spectrum. The Surface is a laptop trying to become a tablet and the IPP is a tablet trying to become a laptop.

I'm not sure I'd word it that strongly. Maybe they're trying to incorporate or even expand into the use/functionality of tablets/traditional computers.

Apple is copying themselves ...this ipadpro+magic keyboard is another clone to the macbook...just with an limited ipadOS instead of a macos
Instead of making the mac better, they spend the money just to make a macbook clone running ios

So we can compare the iPad now to all laptops and desktops!!! What fun. Go for it.

Regardless, me thinks sales may show improvement, eventually. Just a hunch.

ive been using this same argument since Apple first created the Apple Pencil and people have been saying how Steve and Apple hated the “stylus” and other input devices: the difference with Apple is that iPad OS still does not require these devices. The Apple Pencil adds function, but is not necessary to using an iPad. Same for the trackpad and keyboard. The iPad is 100% fully functional without them

even dating back to earlier tablets and other OS’s, these input method were required because the operating system was not fully formatted for touch input via a finger.
and even if you were to say “Microsoft was right all along” it’s still very clear that the iPad is the superior tablet.

Nope. You're not looking at it from Apple's perspective. They knew for a long time that they would get to where the Microsoft Surface was. They're doing it now rather than back then because it allowed them more opportunities to turn the handle crank on the money-making machine.

If the first iPad Pro were to match what the Surface is, then Apple has a harder time selling subsequent generations. By incrementally introducing elements and components over subsequent generations, they get people to buy more iPad Pros (upgrades for multiple sales per customer).

There's also the frog-in-boiling-water in effect as well. $300 for a keyboard folio wouldn't have been a seller when the Pro first came out. Now, there are people right here on MR defending the price even going as far as to say that it is a "bargain".

The industry moves forward, use cases change, consumer desires inform the market. It's a bit short sighted to make this some kind of right and wrong (or some kind of personal vendetta ...), they're making a strategic decision to move the iPad further into a different market segment.

Seems easy to understand.

*shrug*

A "bargain"? Gag, choke ...

Oh, so you can speak from personal experience?

I have had company issued Surface Pro and my personal iPad Pro. From usability and productivity stand point, Surface Pro is way batter than iPad Pro. I really failed to see why people hate Surface Pro so much, if I need full blown Windows environment, I can simply attach the Surface Keyboard and use it as full Windows PC. If I need tablet, I can still use it as tablet. It is fine tablet for watching videos, surfing internet.

I don't have the Surface Pro anymore, because i have left the company for parental leave. I am currently using my Windows laptop all the time and 3rd gen 12.9 iPad Pro is on my drawer for most of time. For me, at least, iPad Pro is still no match to Windows and all the Windows applications comes with it.

Not at all. The surface is an iteration of Windows tablets and it's classic Surface tabletop from 12+ years ago.

The iPad is evolving as the market is changing away from full blown desktops.

Your obvious desire to rag on Apple notwithstanding, this has nothing to do with Apple copying MS as much as you can accuse MS copying Apple with the current tablet form factor.

out of interest, what made you with a windows laptop vs a MacBook?

I am more custom to Windows and generally Windows laptop is more affordable. I have been using MacBook Pro for since 2008 and got an MacBook Air around 2013. 2008 MacBook Pro is very outdated and 2013 MacBook Air is getting slower. I would like a MacBook, but current MacBook Price is way out of my budgets.

I brought a Acer Nitro 5 with Core i5 9300H with Nvidia 1650 graphic card for 749 CAD (gaming and Windows) and one HP Ryzen 3 laptop for 349 dollars (some coding and Linux). The cheapest Apple laptop currently MacBook Air for 1299CAD. I can buy two laptops with this price.

Other reason is that I really never liked MacOS. I prefer Windows 10 and Pop!OS (Linux distro based on Ububtu).

Market is not changing away from full blown desktop at all. In fact PC shipment is starting growing again in 2019. Apple know well people are still prefer traditional keyboard and mouse paradigm, this is why Apple is adding mouse (or trackpad) support to iPads.

Full blown desktop will be there, now and in the future. Touch interface will never really replace accuracy of keyboard and mouse combination.

I don’t see it that way at all. Apple releases products when they are fully cooked. They don’t need to rush out anything like everyone else. Apple is BOSS.
