Hi guys👋 Newbie here😊 also I got my airpods max now on it’s 2nd day. First thing I noticed when I wear it is the clamping on my lower ears but after a few hours my head and lower ears are good and well asjusted👍 Today I wear them again for longer hours eveywhere I go lol 😂 cleaning, eating etc. So far I’m happy with it, no sweat around my ears 👍 Happy with the quality x comfort x aesthetic x ecosystem and sound quality 🙌 🥷😉😊

I think this could be the first product by Apple I return. I had high hopes for this product but comfort has been my main complaint. The sound quality is very good. But I find the clamping force and the weight of the headphones to be very uncomfortable to me. I realize this might not be the case for everyone but I find my Bose headphones to be way more comfortable and I didn’t find the sound quality to be that much better.
The integration is nice and the Bluetooth range is incredible!
But if the headphones are not comfortable what’s the point of having them. I’m bummed as I had high hopes but overall disappointed. I think Apple missed on a lot of aspects to this product.

Apple TV+ shows are really the best showcase of the AirPods Max's ability. Spatial audio is phenomenal.

I wasn't too pleased either when i tested the Airpods Max from a friend. Got uncomfortable after a while and i think that comfort is really important in headphones, otherwise you can't use them for a long time. I have used headphones from Teufel (German manufacturer, just use google translate) for a long time now and i dont think i will switch anytime soon. They might not have the same sound quality, but at least i can use them a long time.

Good post. If the stuff isn’t comfortable, don’t waste any more time. To many people a lightweight headphone will be more comfortable than a heavier one.

Return it and pick something you can enjoy.

Is the feature only available on that app?
As far as I know the Apple TV+ app, Disney+, HBO support spatial audio (Dolby 5.1/7.1/atmos), but not Netflix (😓)

also, only iOS/iPadOS 14 devices support spatial audio, not Mac, not Apple TV. Weird.

Come on folks, while you are working out do some shoulder shrugs and neck curls. Or you must be wearing these wrong.

Lol, all kidding aside. If they ain’t comfortable then dump em. I did the same with the wireless Bowers and Wilkins P5 and P7 headphones regardless that they offered very good sound quality and NC. The clamping was ridiculous. Could have used those headphones for pressing grapes to make wine. Lol.

Unfortunately, after one day of use, I can't tolerate them anymore.

I think I developed tinnitus because of how strong it's clamping on my ears. (I have ANC off). It's just too tight around my head.
Whilst I appreciate that they may be uncomfortable for you and not to your liking, they cannot cause tinnitus via a clamping force. Don’t be so over-dramatic

Why are people still suggesting they should be cheaper? It's established their sound quality/profile is inline with ~500 dollar headphones. Combined with the tight integration in the E C O S Y S T E M 550 seems like a fair price

Totally agree, add in the incredible build quality and standard of fit and finish, I think the price is more than fair.

Without a doubt, well worth the money over the competition such as the Sony and Bose.

I question why people say the Apple are too expensive, yet think the Bose 700’s are a fair price but look so cheap and nasty and not worth the asking price to me.

One of the best products I’ve purchased from Apple, absolutely love them. Now just waiting for my WaterField case to be shipped and I’ll be really happy.

Sound preferences and expectations on audio pricing are very individual factors. What one person establishes as good for themselves may not work for someone else.

I very much doubt that the upper offerings from Sony or Bose get that much attention in the public. People will perceive their prices similarly as too high in many cases. The bread and butter mainstream is likely looking at the QC35 territory and expects pricing in that ballpark - that certainly attracts way more customers than the $500 bracket.

The ecosystem argument is laughable. Apple is making products that work with their devices and that's a justification for a higher price? How does that make any sense at all?

The APM doesn’t even work with their ecosystem. It is only limited to iOS devices.

Still cannot get spatial audio working with my Apple 4KTV or Mac’s.

I can’t recall where I heard it but one or two reviewers mentioned this as well saying that the iOS devices feature something in hardware that is required to make that feature work. Let’s hope it shows up on ATV soon.

Do you have a set of headphones that can switch from your phone to your computer or tablet with no interaction at all? That’s a feature regardless of how you personally feel about it...

Frankly that’s a way bigger selling point that whether it has a 3.5mm jack or not for the target audience 🤷‍♂️

Lol, yes I do. My B&O headphones switch from my iphone to my Mac without doing anything. And yes, its a feature, but its not one that justifies the higher price of a product. I don't understand anyone's logic in thinking this. One companies products should work seamlessly together. Paying a premium for that to occur is ludicrous.

Where did Apple come out and say “seamless switching is the reason we charge $500 for these”? Are you trying to make the claim that this one feature is why they cost what they cost? Where did you get that idea from?

Anyone having lower neck pain/strain from the APMs? They fit comfortably around my ears.. clamping force not an issue.
