Really useful pictures thanks 👍🏻.

I haven't been contacted by Waterfield (I'm on the ships by 19 March batch 14). If I'm honest I would prefer the metal zip pulls if I were contacted, but I hasten to add there is nothing wrong with the nylon zippers (it's just personal preference).

I see from your pictures that you can have the adjuster on the headphones let out a bit and they still fit in the case. That's really good to know as the current headphones and third party case I have currently, only allows me to fit them in the case if I fully close the adjuster.
The Geekria UltraShell Smart Case which I'm using now also allows me to store the headphones in the case with the adjuster extended fully.

I was about to order the Geekria case too but some Amazon reviews are complaining that the AirPods Max is held too close to the zipper and it might get scratched. Have you encountered this issue?
I’ve not had any issues. As long as you are careful when zipping the case up. I quite like the case to be honest and it has the magnets to put the headphones in standby

I totally agreed with Bazooka. I've been using this case for more than 2 months and the zipper never touches the Can and there are no scratches on the Max so far.

My WaterField case in chocolate leather came in today. Just what I was looking for.

I got this same color and nylon pulls too. They contacted me prior to shipment a week ago about the nylon pulls now, vs waiting till end of march for metal, and since we wanted it in time for my birthday yesterday we accepted the nylon pulls (got here last Friday). It's fine. I would have liked metal more, but not worth the extra 2 week or more wait.

PS: I prefer a case that can not only put the AirPods max to sleep with included magnet flap, but can also accept the AirPods max already in the Apple "purse" case, which means magnets that can lay flat like with the Waterfield case.

Looks like my waterfield case with metal pulls just shipped.

Were you contacted by Waterfield to ask if you wanted the nylon zip pulls?

Why I ask is, I was contacted by Waterfield last week to ask if I wanted the nylon zip pulls or wait till around 23 March for the metal zip pulls to arrive from the factory.

With yours shipping (with metal zip pulls) I just assumed they had arrived before the 23 March. I was in batch 14.

Yes I was contacted at the beginning of March and let them know I wanted metal pulls. I was initially in the batch 13 but because I wanted the metal pulls they let me know it would come later in the month.

Thanks for getting back to me.
It seems that Waterfield have got their metal pulls in a little earlier than the 23 March.

I've just literally came off the Waterfield website. Its now showing batch 13, 14 as "now shipping" (I know a few days ago both these batches were just showing "sold out"). So hopefully my order will ship a little earlier :)

Thanks again.

That look is the reason I dont buy that color. Looks old and worn out. I can't figure out how SF Bags convinced themselves and others it's a good look.

I just got notification that my Batch #14 APM Case from Waterfield Designs has shipped. I’m so glad I decided to wait until they got the metal pulls in stock.

I paid for FedEx 2Day shipping, so I should get the case by Tuesday, if not earlier. Not bad, since the original projection was week of 19 March, although it will miss my birthday by a few days—which I can live with.

Just got an email a couple of hours ago from Waterfield to say my black leather case has shipped today, and it will be here on 24 March. Wasn't expecting it this early, as they mentioned in the last email that the metal zip pulls would not be arriving till around the 23 March and from then, they would need to send them into production.

Very fast delivery service considering its having to come to the UK, can't wait to get it :)

It's what happens when a company buys the cheap leather stock that won't be touched by high end companies because it's far too scuffed and low grade. Then you make your cases out of them and convince customers that this is how good leather is supposed to look, and that they're paying for the best!

Not all of the leather products they sell has a worn look, like the chocolate case in question.
The reason for the worn look is its a distressed leather and this particular case colour has extra tanning oils in it to give it this look. All the other leather colours do not have this distressed look.

Some people actually prefer leather with a patina like this.

Got my Waterfield case today. LOVE IT!

I've got this exact case on route to me. Mine was due to be delivered 24 March, but it's failed to be delivered for some reason so I will contact Fedex to see what's the hold up. Can't wait to get it so that I can retire the included Apple one.

This is not a patina we're talking about. These are scuff marks that we're talking about.

A patina is a sheen that develops over time due to exposure to the elements and oils, and which can be accelerated by the leather maker. The sheen (or lack of it) is not what we're talking about.

The "distress look" which is basically scuff marks is a hallmark of reject quality leather stock that the better companies won't touch.

The companies that use such quality of leather tend to conflate scuffing with patina.

Regardless of that, this sort of look is popular with a lot of people. If people prefer this look, then why criticise people's choice for them choosing this look.

If the scuffs bother people that much, Gary (Waterfield) shows how to get rid of marks that come about with use, by applying a bit of heat with an hairdryer and rubbing the area with a finger to manipulate the tanning oils into the given area.

I have no problems with people liking that sort of look. I have no right to dictate what people should find attractive.

I do have an issue when people use the word "patina" to refer to the scuff marks on an inferior cut of leather. Words have meanings. It is disingenuous to conflate one with the other because it misleads uninformed people into thinking that this is what a patina is. Many people have heard of the word patina and know that it is a desirable finish, but don't really have an idea of what a patina really looks like. They get misled when they are told that these scuff marks are patina.

I feel potential purchasers will be drawn to the look of it, and I don't see how they would be misinformed by this as they know the look they are getting from the product pictures.
